It all started…with a soft swoosh.

BOOOOOOOOOMMMMM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM

And with five LOUD Concussive blasts, the battle began.

"SKRIEEE SKREEE!"

"BUZZZ BUZZZ SKREEE!"

"KANAKANNA!"

"SHAA SHAAA SHAA!"

In an instant, the Cavern became a deafening hellscape of sounds as the insects went ballistic, flailing around and rushing toward the cause of the explosions.

Unbeknownst to them, the threat had never been there to begin with, so when the first wave of bugs reached the shattered stalagmites and the single stalactite that had fallen from above, all they could do was attack the air mindlessly, thinking something was present, as it was where the noise originated.

Meanwhile, while the entire horde moved toward the western side of the Cavern, Nyria swiftly descended and placed Glacia down on the ground silently, like an experienced helicopter pilot dropping off soldiers, before flapping her wings and moving toward the lake.

At the same time, at the top of the Cavern overlooking the lake, Aoni burst into motion and, with a few perfectly placed steps, jumped toward the wall and started climbing.

Unlike his summons, he didn't have a small, agile body built for speed, so all he could think of was getting a height advantage over the enemy.

Within seconds, and without regard for the noise, Aoni scaled the rocky wall, pushed off toward a fairly large stalactite, and leaped, frogging across the ceiling one stone finger at a time.

The race against time was on, and each second wasted would be another potential moment in time that could result in either himself or Glacia being overwhelmed by enemies, so with that thought in mind, Aoni paused for a moment, extended his left hand, and fired off a quintuple shot down toward the swarm surrounding his previous rocky target.

Fwoosh X 5

With how densely packed together the bugs were, there was no need for accuracy or even aiming, and so long as he got the general direction right, he'd hit something.

Sure enough, a moment later, five splatters occurred, stirring the insectoids into a frenzy as they swarmed their own brethren and attacked the corpses.

Moving as she pleased, Glacia only spared a single glance toward the ceiling, where she saw Aoni taking potshots at the bugs on the opposite side of the Cavern.

'Points, points, points, brodder too many points,' frowning cutely, and knowing she was at a disadvantage due to a lack of ranged attacks, Glacia entered furry missile mode and launched herself at the nearest and slowest group of bugs she could find.

Given the size of the Cavern, it wasn't surprising that even after nearly a minute, not all the residents had cleared the distance; therefore, the ones she targeted had previously been on the ceiling or walls.

'One buggie,'

SLASH SLASH

Ripping through the thick carapace with ease using her front claws, Glacia dove into her opponent and, with two swift swipes, decapitated it before catching the head and placing it in her backpack pouch, a gift from Aoni for collecting resources.

Simpleminded as she may be, Glacia had quickly learned that the only way to prove her battle accolades was to bring back trophies, and since the gummy-like EC had been proven to be in the heads of these insects, that was what she gathered.

Staying on the move, attacking the next insect, Glacia continued counting each kill.

'boo, buggies,'

'free buggies,'

'poor buggies,'

'pive buggies,'

And within a few seconds, she'd already stored away the heads of five 1-Star insects before moving on to the next cluster.

While Glacia was on a rampage, Nyria gained some altitude as she followed the instructions given to her by Aoni and hovered directly over the center of the underground lake.

Below, she could see hundreds of insects clumsily kicking their legs and trying to get to the shore; however, in her eyes, they were merely a means to gain points.

The only question was, how could she possibly collect her kill trophies?

Just like Glacia, Nyria had a pack of her own, an upgraded version strapped to her chest, and during their twice-daily hunts, she, too, would collect the Energia Cells of her victims; however, things were a bit different this time.

She didn't receive the same kind of kill mission as her big sister; instead, she was tasked with freezing the lake, and that's when she realized something.

'If I freeze all the buggies, doesn't that count as a trophy cause they will be stuck there?' Tilting her head to the side while hovering a hundred feet in the air, Nyria thought.

{'hehe, bait buggies, bine buggies, FEN BUGGIES!'} While considering if a frozen insect counted as a point, Nyria heard her sister absentmindedly talking in the LoS and nearly fell out of the sky, not because she was rapidly gaining points, but because the numbers she was saying were TOTALLY WRONG!

{'Remember, it's Eight, Nine, and Ten Glacia, also Nyria, you can go ahead and attack now,'} Before Nyria could step in and correct her dum-dum sister, Aoni did it for her and even gave her the go-ahead to act.

{'Kayyy, charging now!'} Looking to her Lord and seeing he, too, was rapidly gaining points, Nyria didn't want to be left in the dust, so having been given the go-ahead to attack, she began inhaling deeply.

'More…' With each passing second, her chest broadened as her lungs drew in Energia Rich air, coating not only her throat but also stimulating her EC and thinking back to the day Aoni taught her about this attack.

'There are a few things you need to remember when using this technique; first, it requires a lot of air, so you'll need to take a deep breath, but that is only the beginning.'

'Deep inside your body is a small bean-like body part; this is what allows you to control your magic power or Energia. The goal is to gather as much Energia as possible in your lungs and let your Energia Cell transform it into something usable.

By the time you feel like you can't take in any more air and have cycled the Energia you drew in through your EC, you must —and I repeat —must protect your throat and beak. Do this by imagining a protective shield over here, *point at Nyria's neck*, and then, when you feel like it's going to burst out, you spit and scream as loud as you can!'
