~~NEXT MORNING~~

Renan slowly opened his eyes as he felt something soft and warm pressing gently against his chest.

Still half-asleep and groggy, he turned his face down to inspect what was causing the pressure on him, and there he saw Elaris lying peacefully on his chest. Her hand was tucked under his body, hugging him tightly, as if afraid he might slip away or vanish at any moment.

"Hm," Renan murmured softly as his eyes opened fully, his lingering sleepiness washing away instantly the moment he saw Elaris’s serene face. His expression shifted into one filled with warmth and affection, his lips curling into a gentle smile.

He lay there for a while, simply watching her sleep, taking in every detail of her face—her long lashes, her even breathing, and the peaceful aura that surrounded her. His eyes, filled with quiet joy, lingered on her for what felt like forever.

After ten or fifteen minutes of silent watching, Renan finally decided that it was enough. As much as he wanted to keep lying there with her, he had a dungeon waiting to be cleared, a mission that couldn’t wait. ’I’ll have all the time in the world after I’m done with this dungeon, so I should finish it in minimum time,’ Renan thought, and moved his hand gently to wake Elaris up.

"Elaris, wake up, it’s already morning. We should get going," Renan said softly, nudging her shoulder gently.

"Um," Elaris moved slightly but, instead of getting up, she tightened her hug around Renan, pulling him even closer. "I don’t want to move. It’s comfortable like this," she mumbled sleepily, her eyes still closed.

"Ohh, I see," Renan said with a small laugh, nodding his head. Instead of insisting again, he adjusted his hold on her waist and, in the next second, he sat up and stood beside the bed while still holding Elaris so she wouldn’t fall.

Elaris, whose legs were now dangling in the air, instinctively moved them and wrapped them tightly around his waist, her arms still hugging his chest. Her long, pure white hair flowed down her back like a silky waterfall, cascading all the way to her hips, covering her back entirely. She clung to him like a little koala.

Renan chuckled at her antics and moved one of his hands from her waist—since she was clinging so tightly with her arms and legs, there was no risk of her falling. Then, with Elaris still holding on, he walked toward the bathroom to wash both of them up.

Luckily, the inn they stayed in was a famous and rather wealthy one, which meant it had a luxurious bathing area with a real bathtub. Before getting into the bath, Renan poured clean water over both himself and Elaris to wash away the scent of their activities from the night before. Once they were cleaned up, he stepped into the large bathtub, still holding Elaris who refused to let go.

As her soft body pressed against his, Renan felt a wave of relaxation wash over him.

"Huuu," he sighed in contentment as the warm water surrounded them.

They remained like that for five or ten peaceful minutes before Renan got out with Elaris. He had to get dressed, which he couldn’t do with Elaris clinging to him like this.

"Elaris, come on now. We need to go. You should transform," he said while patting her head gently.

"Uhm," she sounded reluctant but nodded her head eventually, transforming into a ring, which then hooked itself onto Renan’s ear without needing guidance.

After that, Renan got dressed and stepped out of the room. He noticed some other people exiting their rooms as well, but he didn’t pay much attention to them and instead made his way down to the inn’s dining area.

He soon reached the first floor, where he saw many people sitting at tables, enjoying their meals. One of the inn’s waiters, who had been standing near the staircase, quickly approached Renan and greeted him.

"Good morning, sir," the waiter said politely, looking at Renan with a professional smile.

Renan returned the greeting and asked the waiter to show him to an empty table where he could sit and order food.

After settling down and placing his order, Renan sat back and looked around, his eyes casually observing the room while waiting for his meal to arrive. At the same time, he began chatting with Elaris mentally through their connection.

Two or three minutes later, his breakfast was brought to him. It was nothing too extravagant—just a plate with a boiled egg, slices of bread, a portion of meat, a side of vegetables, and a glass of juice.

Renan began eating with evident satisfaction, and Elaris, observing him mentally, noticed the content expression on his face.

’You really like the food?’ she asked, curious. She didn’t eat, being a world spirit, but the expression on Renan’s face made her wonder how good it really was.

’Hmm, if you’re asking about the food—yeah, it’s good, but not that amazing,’ Renan replied, chewing thoughtfully. He continued as he understood what she really meant to ask, ’The reason I look happy isn’t just the food’s taste. It’s the experience. Filling your stomach with something tasty just feels good. It’s hard to explain, but it’s comforting.’

Elaris nodded in understanding, mentally taking note of his words.

"And," Renan continued, "if I were to rate this food compared to what I had at the castle, I’d give this three stars and the castle food five. Some meals back there were so good that I wished I had a bottomless pit of a stomach, so I could keep eating and never get full. But when I imagine that, I also scared—being hungry all the time wouldn’t be a great feeling, right?"

’Hmm, I see,’ Elaris replied, a little amused. ’So you really do love food.’

’Yeah, I do. But definitely not more than my sweet and beautiful wife. After all, if I ever don’t have food, I can just eat you—and I’m sure you taste better than even the best five-star dish,’ Renan said with a mischievous smirk.

Elaris, blushing slightly at his words, still replied with confidence, ’Of course. That’s a given.’

’Yes, yes, I know. Just saying,’ Renan said with a smirk as he left the inn and stepped onto the road, glancing around and continuing to talk to Elaris.

’So, where are we going now?’ Elaris asked, noticing that Renan was simply wandering.

’Well, I was thinking about heading straight to clear the dungeon, but I realized that once I do, it’ll cause a big commotion—like it did back at the dwarf dungeon. If that happens, I won’t be able to come back easily. So I thought I’d explore a bit before leaving. The Elf Empire’s capital which isn’t like the Dwarf City. There’s more to see, so I might find something interesting,’ Renan said, strolling casually through the streets of the Elf city.

*THUD*

Just as Renan was walking, someone bumped into him from behind.
