Manaless Mage-Chapter 232: Final match!
Chapter 232: Final match!
She could still remember when she met him for the first time, he was just a stage one Elementalist. Nothing more, nothing less.
Never had it crossed her mind that he would be the one she would be facing in the finals.
The only reason she even decided to add him to her team, was just to fill up the numbers, and not for any reason in particular.
However, the more the event progressed, the more his strength shocked her.
Despite being a stage one Elementalist, he was incredibly powerful, even powerful enough to easily take down stage two Elementalist.
Such Elementalist strength and talent, she had never seen in before in her whole life.
Nonetheless, what bothered her the most was that look in his eyes. That calm, unshaken expression he had throughout all his fights in the competition, and even in the spar they had together.
She recognised that look very well, especially after being at both the ’giving’ and the receiving end of it.
That was the look of someone who wasn’t pouring out his all into a fight.
Perhaps it was because of how many Elementalist she had faced, but she could somehow tell if them were giving their all in a fight or not.
And from what she felt from Harry, she was sure he was greatly holding back in all his fights.
How much he was holding back... she wasn’t sure. The reason he was holding back, she didn’t know either.
Despite being in an higher mana core stage than he was, she had never been able to properly gauge his strength, and it greatly annoyed her.
Nonetheless, she was curious about his true strength, whether it was greater or lesser than hers.
No matter what, she would never lose.
’I’ll win tomorrow, as I’ve done so far.’ She thought, slowly gnashing her teeth.
’I’ll become not just the most talented Elementalist in the world, but also the most powerful.’ She thought, her brows furrowing in determination. ’Nothing would stop me, not him... not her.’

The next day,
Loud shouts and cheers echoed around the hall, as the crowd of students were unable to contain their excitement towards the last and final match of the ranking competition.
[I’m sure we’re all excited, cause the final round is finally here!!]
The commentator went on, speaking volumes about how far the competition had come and the thrilling fights they had witnessed so far.
The audience simply cheered in response, their excitement growing even more with the commentator’s words.
After a few minutes, the noise around the hall died down a little, and the commentator went on to introduce the two participants of this match.
[Facing each other in the final match, we have Susan Grey!!]
The ’curtains’ at the sides of the stage slowly slid open, revealing a beautiful girl with blonde hair and grey eyes.
Hanging by her side was a long sword, which was nested gently in its sheath.
She had an indifferent expression on her face, as she slowly climbed unto the stage.
The moment she stepped unto the stage, the hall immediately exploded in cheers and chants of praise, as her fans among the audience shouted with joy.
Nonetheless, none of that moved Susan and she simply took her position on the stage, with a weird glint flickering in her eyes.
[And Harry Ainsworth!!]
The curtains on the other end slowly opened up, and Harry gently stepped out of it.
The hall immediately went into another loud uproar, as the audience cheered excitedly for him.
’Finally.’ Harry thought, his lips curling into a slight smirk as he climbed unto the stage, standing opposite Susan.
[Since both participants are now ready, let’s begin the last and final fight of the ranking event!!]
[Begin!!]
The moment the commentator announced the start of the fight, Susan stretched her hand towards Harry, hurriedly casting a spell.
"Nova Beam!" She shouted, light rays rapidly gathering in front of her palm, converging into a medium sized ball of light.
Thwoom!!
A powerful beam suddenly blasted out from the middle of the ball, hurtling towards Harry at terrifying speed.
’Fast!’ Harry thought, hurriedly harnessing his energy through his legs.
Just as the beam was about to close in on him, he swiftly dashed to the side, propelling himself with a little energy.
Nonetheless, Susan didn’t give up, she swiftly stretched both of her hands once more, in preparation to cast another spell.
Whirrr!!
"Luminous shower." She mumbled, countless light rays rapidly gathering in the middle of her palms.
Although one might feel she didn’t need to go all out, since Harry was in a lower mana core stage than she was, she didn’t think of it that way.
Just the fact that he managed to stand in the finals against her was enough proof that he wasn’t just any Elementalist.
Besides, there was still that strange feeling she felt about him.
Meanwhile, Harry’s brows furrowed into a slight frown as he watched the strange spell activation.
’I thought she had displayed all her spells on the fight against Nathan, but I guess I was wrong.’ He mumbled inwardly, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Swiishh!!
All the light rays suddenly shot towards Harry, glittering beautifully in the air as they rapidly closed in on him from all sides.
However, despite their beauty, Harry didn’t plan on letting a single of the rays make contact with his body.
’I should probably take this a little more serious.’ He thought, a weird expression flashing through his eyes.
’Accelerate.’ He thought.
[+150 points temporarily allocated to agility]
[-50 Energy points]
In an instant, some system notifications flashed across his eyes, and his speed greatly increased.
’Now let’s see.’ He mumbled inwardly, his lips slowly curling into a smirk as he watched the light rays which had now slowed down greatly in his sight.
Without wasting any time, he swiftly dashed to the side, effortlessly escaping the few light rays which tried to latch onto his skin.
"Wind Slash." He muttered, unleashing a long, yet dangerously sharp slash wave of wind towards Susan.
Swoosh!!
The wind slash sliced through the air at tremendous speed, closing the gap between the Elementalist within seconds.
’What?!’ Susan eyes widened in shock, as she suddenly felt something approaching her at terrifying speed.
"Light Boots!!" Just as the wind slash was about to close in on her, she hurriedly conjured a pair of light boots over her legs, swiftly dashing to the side.
However, despite her casting the spell, she still wasn’t able to fully avoid the wind slash.
Spurt!
A small portion of the slash wave cut deeply into her arm as it flew past her, crashing into the barrier covering the stage.
"Argh..." Susan grunted, subconsciously gripping her left arm in pain.
’What was that...? He already casted a spell... when?’ She thought, her thoughts flying all over the place as she stared at the blood slowly dripping down her arm.
"I didn’t really expect you to react to that." Harry suddenly said, causing her eyes to widen slightly in surprise.
"But i guess it’s expected, since it’s you." He continued, flashing a light smirk towards her.
"You didn’t expect me to dodge your attack?" Susan mumbled, gritting her teeth in frustration.
For some reason, hearing those felt like he was mocking her. Like he was looking down on her... and she hated it.
Usually, she was the one in that position; looking down on opponents as they struggled in vain against her attacks.
But what she didn’t know was that Harry wasn’t trying to either mock or look down on her, he was just saying his honest opinion.
After all, he knew how fast that attack was. Although it wasn’t laced with his energy, it was still too fast for any Elementalist to react to, talk less or dodging.
"Don’t get so cocky." She muttered, raising her head towards him.
"Healing rays." She mumbled, gently placing her palm over the cut.
A couple of light rays rapidly materialized in front of her palm, gently sinking into the cut.
Within a few seconds, the cut completely closed up, and if not for a few blood stains around her arm, one wouldn’t know she had a wound just moments ago.
After healing her arm, she turned back to Harry, her expression twisted into a slight frown.
"I suggest you don’t hold back in this fight." She muttered, carefully placing on hand on the hilt of her sword.
"Ohh, and why’s that?" Harry asked sarcastically, staring at her with a calm expression on his face.
Swish!
"Because... you’ll regret it." Susan replied, suddenly drawing out her blade, pointing it towards him.
Harry’s eyes narrowed slightly at the silver blade in her hand, a little surprised she drew out her weapon this early in the fight.
’I thought she’ll wait... and test me a little. But I guess this is okay also.’ He thought, clenching his hands into a fist.
"From now on, I’ll be going all out." Susan mumbled, a large amount of mana abruptly bursting out of her body.
