Manaless Mage-Chapter 235: Fall of the rank one
Chapter 235: Fall of the rank one
Meanwhile, Harry stared at the roughened figure of Susan, with a strange glint flashing across his eyes.
[+6000EXP]
A system notification flashed across how eyes, however, he simply ignored it, as his mind was currently focused on something else.
’I wondered how she was able to dodge my attack the last time, but to think she only predicted it.’ He thought, letting out a light scoff.
All throughout the fight, and even in his previous fight, he constantly punched his opponents on their abdomen, something which the Elementalist picked up on.
So whenever he charged at her, it was quite easy for her to dodge, since she already knew where he would attack.
’It’s quite embarrassing... to think I was so predictable.’ He mumbled inwardly, his face cringing slightly in embarrassment.
He could have punched her anywhere else, but since she was a girl, it felt wrong to punch her in her chest, mainly due to the two mounds occupying her chest.
It was why he only targeted his attacks at her abdomen, which felt more ’normal’.
However, since attacking the same place was getting too predictable, he came up with a better way to unleash his attacks.
He would simply overwhelm her with his skills, and if he wanted to steal her mana, he would do it by going after other parts of her body.
’Hmm... somehow that sounds kind of wrong...’ Harry mumbled inwardly, lightly rubbing his chin.
’Whatever though.’ He thought, simply brushing the thought off his mind.
"Don’t take your eyes away... focus on the opponent in front of you!" Susan’s voice suddenly reverberated across the stage, jolting him out of his thoughts.
"I’m not done yet." The clipped edges of her wings rapidly started regenerating as she spoke, returning back to their former glory within a few seconds.
Another shroud of light warmly enveloped her, speedily healing the wounds she sustained from both Harry’s attacks and the fall.
By the time the light finally dimmed, her body had fully returned to its former appearance, with the light wings on her back shining even brighter.
Nonetheless, her breathing was still heavy, and her face was slightly pale in complexion.
Although she was trying hard to hide it, her mana was already running low.
Those injuries had greatly affected her body, mainly the lightning shock which made sure to roast her from the inside out.
Healing them alone consumed a considerable amount of mana, coupled with the one that was already being drained by her blessing.
Besides, there was also something that was bugging her.
’My mana... it’s draining faster than I expected...’ She mumbled inwardly, while panting heavily.
Although she already knew her blessing would consume numerous amounts of mana, this was still a little out of her expectations.
Unbeknownst to her, Harry had already stolen a considerable chunk of her mana back when he touched her wrist.
After all, he would never waste a chance to get more EXP.
’I need to end this... and fast.’ She thought, gripping the hilt of her sword even tighter.
Harry’s eyes narrowed at the Elementalist, and his lips slowly curled into a slight smirk.
"Yeah... sorry about that." He said, swinging his right arm to the side. "I’ll end this now."
Whoosh!
Suddenly, he dashed towards Susan, rapidly closing in on her.
’Here he comes again!!’ Susan thought, her eyes widening slightly in shock as Harry vanished from her sight.
"Shattering rocks." Harry muttered, swiftly blasting three rocks at her.
Swoosh!!
Swoosh!!
The rocks shot through the air at insane speed, rapidly breaking into smaller rocks, with the rocks flying through the air at even greater speed.
"Luminous Wall!" However, just as they were about to hit Susan, the Elementalist hurriedly erected a thick wall of light in front of her, shielding herself from the barrage of rocks.
Swiish!
Swiish!!
Swiishh!
The rocks struck the light wall with full force, sending a small tremour across its surface, before vanishing into thin air.
However, Harry swiftly appeared behind Susan in the next second, stretching his hand towards her shoulder.
Whirr!!
A small ball of light rapidly started building up in the middle of her wings, with radiant rays of light speedily gathering towards it.
Nonetheless, Harry didn’t panic, since he already knew there was no way for the attack to get him.
’Mana steal.’ He mumbled inwardly, gently placing his hand on her shoulder. "Lightning Stun."
Blitzz!!
Lightning swiftly started crackling around his hand, mercilessly wracking through the Elementalist’s body.
"Argh!" Susan let out a loud grunt, her body convulsing continuously from the electric shocks wracking through her body.
Due to the pain, she eventually lost control of the spell that was building up behind her, and the light ball rapidly dimmed, until it disappeared.
After pumping enough lightning into her body, Harry swiftly leapt backwards, stretching his hand at her again.
"Earth hold." He mumbled, swiftly snapping his fingers.
Kroom!!
Two thick lumps of earth suddenly popped up from beneath Susan’s feet, tightly clamping on her legs, pinning her to the ground.
Susan couldn’t even resist against it, as her body kept convulsing in shock.
She tried desperately to fight back the lightning coursing through her body, but none of what she did work.
She couldn’t even cast any spell, due to her body being in a state of electrocution.
’And now... for the final attack.’ Harry thought, his lips slowly curling into a smirk.
"Lightning Ball." He said, stretching his hand upwards.
Blitzzz!!
A large ball of lightning rapidly materialised above Susan, with blue electricity cracking ferociously around it.
Susan’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the large ball of lightning hovering dangerously above her.
’N-no... not like this. I have to move... I can’t let that hit me!’ She thought, gnashing her teeth in frustration.
However—
Zap!!
Boom!!
The lightning ball abruptly descended down on her, going off in a powerful explosion of electricity.
Blitzzz!!
A powerful wave of blue lightning immediately swept across the stage, causing the eyes to the audience to widen in shock.
After a few seconds, the electricity crackling around the stage slowly dimmed, revealing what was going on in the stage.
Szzz!
Susan’s body was completely charred from the attack, with smoke slowly rising up from her body.
The wings on her back, and the gauntlets around her arms were rapidly breaking apart, dissolving into thin air.
Thud!
"I lost... again..." She mumbled, her body slowly falling to the ground with a loud thud.
The second she dropped to the ground, the whole event hall suddenly went silent.
The audience were too stunned to speak, and all they did was watch as the rank one student of the academy dropped to the ground.
Without any one telling them, they knew... she was unconscious.
Harry had really taken down the top Elementalist in the academy, and with such an astonishing display of power also.
[T-the winner... Harry Ainsworth!!!]
The commentator suddenly announced, breaking the solemn atmosphere hanging in the event hall.
A couple of instructors immediately rushed unto the stage, rapidly healing the injured Susan before escorting her out of the stage.
She had sustained a lot of injuries ever since the beginning of the match, especially from that lightning explosion.
Compared to her, Harry didn’t have a single injury, and looked just as fresh as he did before the fight.
For a few more seconds, silence still reigned in the hall, as the students were still struggling to process what just happened.
Murmuring slowly sprouted from the crowd, and before long, the whole hall was noisy with different shouts and murmurs.
Some cheered for Harry, inspired at the stunning fight he had put up against Susan, while some jeered him, feeling that he won by using some sort of cheap trick.
Nonetheless, Harry didn’t care about what any of them thought.
His lips slowly curled into a slight smirk, as he stared at the set of tabs floating in front of him.
[Quest completed!]

Just before the fight started, a quest popped up in front of it, however, he ignored it then, pushing it to the back of his mind.
The notifications didn’t end there though, and within seconds, load of notifications started flashing across his eyes.

’Nice.’ Harry thought, lightly clenching his fist as he felt a slight increase in his power.
Once again, he had gotten a little stronger... something which made him happy.
[Finally, the ranking event is over, and we have our new rank one Elementalist!!]
[Harry Ainsworth!!]
The commentator’s voice rung through the stage, and the audience immediately exploded in a loud round of cheers and shouts.
There were some jeering and insults mixed within, but there were rapidly drowned out by the loud cheers of joy coming from the others.
An instructor approached Harry, asking him if he wouid like to consume a healing or mana-replenishing potion.
However, he declined, claiming he was perfectly fine. He didn’t see any reason to take a potion, since his wounds had already healed on their own, and he didn’t use mana to begin with.
As he finished discussing with the instructor, a notification suddenly appeared in front of him, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
