Married For Now-Chapter 128: CONNECTIONS
Chapter 128: CONNECTIONS
"ARE YOU really going to help my son?"
Sohee was forced to face his mother after talking to Go Gunjoon.
Unfortunately, this time, he had to do it without Kim Heedo by his side.
My husband is introducing the bodyguards he assigned to Go Gunjoon.
Sohee was buying drinks in the vending machine (with Shin Kang behind him, of course) when his mother approached him.
She must really be worried about her son.
"Yes, everything has been discussed already, ma’am," Sohee answered politely after composing himself. "You just have to attend the meeting that the school summoned you to this coming Friday. And, if you can, please act like you’ve given up already. It will help us a lot if you pretend like you’re signing Go Gunjoon’s expulsion papers."
It was all to make the school and everyone involved to lower their guards.
We can’t underestimate the enemies since a mayor is backing them up.
"Can I really trust you?"
"Ma’am, if you think I’m going to mess with your new family because of "revenge," then you’re wrong," Sohee said bluntly. He could tell that his mother was being wary of him, especially after their not-so-nice conversation earlier. "I may feel a bit bitter towards you because of how you see me as an Omega, but I’m not resentful for you abandoning me. Not anymore, at least. After all, you just made me realize that you’re not the mother I deserve."
Of course, he would lie if he said he didn’t feel sad when he saw how differently his mother treated Go Gunjoon compared to how she treated him.
But he had already gotten over it.
It’s not like I actively looked for my mother. Maybe, in the bottom of my heart, I know that my mother and I are nothing but strangers now. The only difference is I’ve confirmed it today— and I was totally fine with it. Well, I did cry a little. But that’s it.
"I just don’t understand why you’re helping us."
Oh, right.
Kim Heedo said a little lie earlier, so might as well play along. Nothing good will happen if I admitted that I’m curious about my half-brother.
"Like what my husband said earlier, we’re investigating a case similar to the drug scandal that Go Gunjoon got involved with," Sohee lied with a straight face, and then he sprinkled that lie with a bit of truth. "And what’s wrong with helping my half-brother? He doesn’t even know about my existence until recently, so I have no reason to resent him. It’s not his fault that his mother is a good person to him while awful to her firstborn."
His mother looked shocked by Sohee’s direct insult.
Even Shin Kang coughed as if he was trying to hold back his laughter.
Ah, it looks like Mr. Shin also enjoys drama.
"Ma’am, I know you’re not interested, but I still want you to know that my father is already paying for everything he did via hard labor. Half of his salary goes to me, but I haven’t touched a single won yet," Sohee said. Actually, he didn’t know why he suddenly brought that up. Perhaps, despite everything he told himself, he still wanted to console his mother from her awful first marriage. "Your marriage with my father ended almost two decades ago, but I just want to assure that he can never hurt you again. If you want compensation from him, I can send you the money that I get from him twice a month."
His mother paused for a moment, and then she shook her head. "That won’t be necessary. You can keep the money and use it for yourself. Don’t just save that money— go and splurge using that bastard’s hard work. He should have given you a good life in the first place."
It was funny to use that kind of advice from his mother, but Sohee was already tired of feeling bitter and angry.
Hence, he just nodded politely.
"Ah, my grandfather passed away a little after you abandoned us."
This time, his mother flinched.
And then the coldness on her face slightly "melted" as her eyes turned a little warm as if she was reminiscing good memories.
"Your grandfather was good to me," his mother said softly. "He was the one who helped me divorce your father, and he even gave me money before I left the family. If I didn’t leave, he would have returned to his old hometown. But he decided to stay to look after you. He told me that he would raise you, so I shouldn’t look back."
That sounded like what his grandfather would do.
Even so...
"My grandfather would be disappointed that you rejected me for my Secondary Gender," Sohee said. Dammit, maybe he was still bitter? He didn’t want to keep shading his mother, so he quickly took it back. "I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. Anyway, I’m sure Grandfather will forgive you. After all, I met my husband and his family because of my misfortune."
Oops.
Sohee really sounded bitter.
Thankfully, it looked like his mother didn’t mind.
"Is your husband good to you?"
"Not in the beginning of our marriage, but thankfully, he has come around and become the best husband I could ever wish for," Sohee said, pausing for a moment. Talking about how good Kim Heedo to him was reminded him of the people who were good to him from the very start. "My husband’s family is also good to me, especially my mother-in-law. I actually liked them first before I liked my husband."
I suddenly miss the other Kims.
"I’m glad to hear that then," Sohee’s mother said. She didn’t smile, but she sounded warm when she said that. "You grew up well even without a proper guidance, Park Sohee."

IT WAS a long day for Sohee and Kim Heedo.
No wonder they both crashed on the bed after taking a shower. They already had dinner before they went home, so they took a bath as soon as they got home.
Separately since the sex ban is still in effect.
Sohee wasn’t sure he could resist Kim Heedo’s seduction if they took a bath together, so he kicked his husband out of the shower earlier when he tried to join him.
However, right now...
"Kim Heedo, why are you sleeping on my bed again?" Sohee complained lightly. Of course, he didn’t sound convincing since he didn’t really mind cuddling with his husband on bed. Especially after shower since Kim Heedo smelled so damn good. "You have your own room."
"Hyung, do you want a bigger bed with a frame made of gold?" Kim Heedo asked, lifting his head while giving Park Sohee his signature puppy dog eyes. "I can’t sleep without you by my side anymore, especially at night."
’Especially at night.’
This brat is getting better at seducing me!
Sohee avoided Kim Heedo’s gaze, and then he changed the topic. "What’s our plan this Friday, Heedo-ya? Do we just show up with your legal representatives? Will exposing your identity as the grandson of Ilsung Group suffice?"
"Are you worried because the kid who bullied your half-brother is the son of a mayor?"
"Yes. I’ve been married to you long enough to know that politicians could be a thorn in a chaebol’s throat. Especially since Mayor Kang is married to a chaebol, too. Won’t that create a conflict?"
Kim Heedo would avoid a fight against a fellow chaebol if he could.
That was why he didn’t punish Lim Jinwook thoroughly, and why he’s still being polite to Song Sihyuk even though he clearly doesn’t like the man.
"It’s true that it’s a hassle to fight a mayor backed up by his chaebol in-laws, but that’s not case with Mayor Kang since Jang Aejung-ssi has already abandoned him," Kim Heedo said, smirking. "And Kang Woong isn’t Jang Aejung-ssi’s son. He’s the son of Mayor Kang from his first marriage."
"Even so, that chaebol auntie is still Kang Woong’s stepmother."
"Don’t worry, Hyung. I’ll meet up with Jang Aejung-ssi tomorrow night."
"Can I tag along?"
"You can, but I’d prefer it if you don’t."
"Why not?"
"Jang Aejung-ssi is a bit strange," Kim Heedo explained awkwardly. "Plus, I think you’ll get along well with her, so I’d like to delay your meeting."
"Why do you say that we’ll get along well if this auntie chaebol is strange?"
"Uhm, Jang Aejung-ssi likes extreme sports like skydiving and bungee jumping. Even her recent goal is scary— to climb the top of Mount Everest."
"Huh?"
Kim Heedo pouted again. "Both of you are adrenaline junkies, Hyung. What if Jang Aejung-ssi finds out that you like extreme activities as well and ask you to climb Mount Everest with her? I have a feeling that Hyung will agree..."
"You—" Sohee wanted to pretend to be mad, but he couldn’t help but laugh softly. So, he just playfully pulled Kim Heedo’s hair. "I’m not that much of an adrenaline junkie, okay?"

"IT’S BEEN a while, Young Lady."
Hmm?
Hong Sera was surprised when she was greeted by an unexpected person instead of Hong Seojun— her oldest brother.
She went to her oppa’s study to ask him a favor.
But she didn’t know her older brother had a guest since nobody told her.
"It’s been a while, Shaman Crystal."
Yes, the woman with an English name was the shaman that Daesung Group— Hong Sera’s family’s company— trusted the most.
Shaman Crystal is what is Shaman Jung to Ilsung Group to our Daesung Group.
Yes, even their company had a shaman that their family relied on.
Most chaebol families in the country had someone like that.
I know Shaman Crystal helped solve some of our company’s crises through her ’Celestial Eyes’ in the past, but I still can’t bring myself to like this person...
"Young Lady, can I give you a piece of advice?"
Hong Sera smiled politely and shook her head. "Thank you for the offer, but I don’t really need it—"
"Don’t meddle," Shaman Crystal said, cutting off Hong Sera’s words with a smile. "Don’t meddle if you don’t want Ilsung Group’s misfortune to befall on you and the Daesung Group."
