Chapter 39: A FRIENDLY WARNING

SOHEE already expected that people would talk when Kim Heedo volunteered to walk him to his lecture hall.

But he didn’t expect people to be loud and shameless.

"I just noticed that they’re wearing matching diamond stud earrings..."

"Diamonds... I’m so jealous..."

"They must really be married, then..."

"Why would they lie about that? No wonder I don’t see Heedo Sunbae-nim at parties anymore..."

"Now that I’m looking at them together, I realized that they actually look like a classic Alpha-Omega pair..."

Aigoo.

What does a "classic Alpha-Omega pair" even mean?

Was it their physique?

Because Kim Heedo was handsome, big, and toned?

While Sohee was pretty and slim?

That’s a harmful stereotype.

"Heedo-ya, don’t listen to them," Sohee whispered to Kim Heedo. "They’re just talking nonsense."

"I know, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, gently patting Sohee’s back. "Don’t worry about me."

He was relieved that Kim Heedo wasn’t aggravated by the murmurs around them.

Heedo hates it when people say Alphas only belong to Omegas. After all, that’s exactly why his Beta ex dumped him.

"What are you doing here, Heedo Sunbae?"

Hmm?

Sohee recognized the young man who approached Kim Heedo as Cho Euntak’s friend.

Is it Baek Jeho or something?

"You’re in this class, Baek Jeho?"

Oh, I’m right— it’s Baek Jeho, indeed.

"I’m taking this elective class with my friend," Baek Jeho said, pulling Cho Euntak— who was hiding behind Baek Jeho— to his side. "Sunbae, you owe my friend an apology. You scared this kid, you know?"

Kim Heedo just remained poker-faced— obviously unapologetic.

"I-It’s alright," Cho Euntak said while waving his hands frantically. "Heedo Sunbae-nim doesn’t need to apologize to me."

"No, that’s not right, Euntak-ah," Sohee said, causing Baek Jeho to raise an eyebrow at him. But he just ignored Baek Jeho as he turned to Kim Heedo. "What did you do to Cho Euntak that his friend is demanding an apology from you?"

Kim Heedo sighed before he confessed. "I grabbed the kid’s collar and intimidated him with my pheromones."

"Why would you do that?"

"He was covered with your pheromones, so I thought he did something bad to you."

Oh.

Sohee suddenly put two and two together.

Ah!

It must be when Cho Euntak volunteered to fetch Kim Heedo for me.

"Yah. I appreciate that you were concerned about me, but how could you grab a hoobae by the collar without asking him what happened first?" Sohee scolded Kim Heedo, gently smacking Kim Heedo on the shoulder. "Don’t let your temper get the better of you, dude."

"I couldn’t help it, Hyung," Kim Heedo said defensively. "Every Alpha will agree with me when I say we lose our reasoning when we think our Omega is in danger. And since Hyung is my Omega, isn’t it normal for me to react that way after smelling your pheromones all over another guy?"

Aigoo.

Sohee knew that Alphas were naturally possessive of the Omegas they slept with— regardless of their relationship status.

I know that, but...

But hearing Kim Heedo claim him as his Omega in front of other people did something strange to him.

It kind of made Sohee’s heart skip a beat.

Fuuuck.

***

KIM HEEDO actually didn’t have any class that day, and that was why he went drinking with his friends last night. But he walked Park Sohee to his lecture hall on purpose to make everyone know that Park Sohee was his Omega.

I also showered Hyung with my pheromones before I left.

It was normal for an Alpha to do that to the Omega he was sleeping with— whether they were dating or not.

But, of course, I didn’t do that to my previous hook-ups.

After all, those hook-ups were just one-night stands.

"Heedo-ya, we’re here."

Heedo saw his friends at the corner of the coffee shop.

Yang Jaewon, Hong Sera, and Kwon Gaon occupied the long table.

And the ’guest’ was already there, too.

We chose a public space on purpose because we want Lim Jinwook to hear that we’re meeting Ho Changmin.

"Heedo-ya," Ho Changmin greeted him nervously. "It’s been a while."

"Yes, it’s been a while," Heedo said, sitting across from Ho Changmin. Since he didn’t want to have that conversation longer than needed, he immediately went straight to the point. "You probably already know why we called you here."

Ho Changmin nodded, and he suddenly looked as pale as a ghost.

He must be scared.

"Why didn’t you tell us that it was Lim Jinwook who beat you up?"

"I’m sorry," Ho Changmin said, lowering his head while hugging himself when his body started to tremble. "I was so scared of Jinwook-ah that I wasn’t able to speak up."

That was an admission, right?

Heedo had practically confirmed that it was Lim Jinwook who attacked his former hook-ups, but he felt like they were missing something important.

Is this really over?

"SOHEE-SSI, do you think the luck that you found recently will be yours forever?"

Aigoo.

When Sohee received a text message from Shaman Jung, he quickly went and met the man in a diner that served delicious tteokbokki.

But, as soon as he sat down, the shaman asked him that ominous question.

And here I am, appreciating the fact that Shaman Jung looks like a handsome ordinary office worker in his neat black suit.

Shaman Jung was a man in his forties who looked good and fit for his age.

No wonder the women— and even some men— kept glancing their way.

Come to think of it, I can’t tell Shaman Jung-nim’s Secondary Gender, and I’m not sure if it would be polite to ask.

Well, whatever.

The shaman’s Secondary Gender was the least of his concerns.

"You’re making me nervous, Jung-nim," Sohee said while checking the food on the table. The shaman had already ordered for the two of them, and he liked every single dish there. "Isn’t my luck the gift given to me by my grandfather?"

"Yes, but your grandfather’s luck was originally stolen from him by Chairman Kim," Shaman Jung reminded him. "What made you think that your luck couldn’t be stolen?"

"Is my luck going to be stolen?"

"If I said you were right, then how do you think your luck would be stolen?"

"Well, Chairman Kim stole my grandfather’s luck by stealing the winning lottery ticket," Sohee said, tilting his head to one side. "Does it mean my luck would be stolen from me if someone else stole my golden goose?"

Shaman Jung chuckled when he realized that the ’golden goose’ Sohee mentioned was Kim Heedo. "I like how quick-witted you are, kid."

Oh, Sohee was actually correct?

So, if I divorced Kim Heedo and the kid ends up with another person, I might go bankrupt again— even though I’m supposed to receive alimony from his family???
