Chapter 99: WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS

SOHEE WAS relieved that Hong Sera wasn’t in grave danger.

Well, it was still bad that she fainted due to stress and anxiety.

But, at least, it’s not because of her previous liver disease.

"Yeah, Sera is fine. But, to be safe, we’ll bring her back to Seoul as soon as she wakes up."

Sohee turned to Kim Heedo.

Right now, his husband was talking to Yang Jaewon and Kwon Gaon via a group video call. Kim Heedo called the two after Hong Sera was brought to a private room to get more rest.

This hospital doesn’t have a VIP Room.

Han Raehyun was with Hong Sera at the moment.

On the other hand, Sohee and Kim Heedo were in the lobby of the hospital since his husband needed to make a phone call.

We left Cho Euntak and Baek Jeho at the villa.

Sohee hoped the two kids weren’t fighting.

He actually wanted to console Cho Euntak who obviously cried, but Hong Sera came first because she needed immediate care.

Wait for us, Euntak-ah.

"No need to hurry back, Gaon-ah. As I said earlier, Sera is fine. But Han Raehyun knows about her liver transplant now. Don’t curse, Jaewon-ah. I understand where you’re coming from, but Sera will only get more stressed if we antagonize Han Raehyun."

Sohee realized one thing.

Kim Heedo’s friend group is really tight.

And Kim Heedo was also close to Hong Sera’s family.

He called them while we were on the way to the hospital.

"Yeah, see you soon."

Sohee turned to Kim Heedo after the phone call. "It seems like Hong Sera wanted to keep her condition a secret from Han Raehyun. Won’t she get upset with you?"

"Oh, she’ll be upset, for sure," Kim Heedo said while nodding. "But it was an emergency. I had to provide her medical history so that the medical team could provide her the best care possible."

That made sense.

"I feel bad that I asked Hong Sera to drink with us a few times," Sohee said, sighing. "Had I known she was sick, I wouldn’t have invited her to drink."

"It wasn’t your fault, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, consoling him. "Sera rarely drinks after she got a liver transplant. But I guess she was stressed out these days. That’s why I let her drink in moderation. But, from now on, let’s stop her from drinking."

Sohee nodded in agreement. "You don’t have to answer me because I know it’s not your story to tell. But Hong Sera mentioned that something bad happened to Jin Minki before, and she caused it indirectly. Was the incident she mentioned that bad? It seems like that caused a rift between her and Han Raehyun."

Kim Heedo fell silent for a moment. "I think I have to tell you what happened, Hyung."

"Huh? Why? Will it be alright?"

"I know you can keep secrets."

"Yes, of course."

"When we were in high school, Sera was really clingy to Han Raehyun. There was a time she threw a tantrum because she thought Han Raehyun was spending too much time with Jin Minki. So, she made him choose. Of course, Han Raehyun chose her then," Kim Heedo said, pausing for a moment. "Han Raehyun left Jin Minki and asked him to go home alone. I don’t know what exactly happened, but Jin Minki was assaulted by a much older Alpha that day."

Sohee’s jaw almost dropped to the floor.

Okay, now I get why Hong Sera feels guilty.

However...

"I feel bad for Jin Minki, but what happened to him wasn’t Hong Sera’s fault," Sohee said carefully. "The only person we should curse was that scumbag Alpha. Having said that, I understand why Jin Minki and his family would blame Hong Sera. It’s not right, but I can see why."

Kim Heedo nodded in agreement. "There’s a reason why I’m telling you this, Hyung."

"Because you trust me?"

"That and because you know Jin Minki’s attacker."

"Huh? I do?"

"The scumbag who attacked Jin Minki was the teacher who also tried to rape you in middle school, Hyung."

Damn it.

Sohee clenched his hands tight until his nails dug deep into the skin of his palms. "Please tell me that bastard was punished properly this time."

"Of course," Kim Heedo said while nodding. "He’s still in jail, and we’ll make sure he’ll only come out once he’s dead."

That threat sounded too real.

Is this what Ahn Yujae meant when he told me that the scumbag teacher is living miserably? Because he’s rotting in jail now?

Sohee didn’t ask Ahn Yujae for details back then because he didn’t care anymore.

But I’m glad to know that the scumbag teacher is finally locked up.

"Hyung, can you handle another bad news?"

Sohee turned to Kim Heedo in disbelief. "There’s more bad news related to me?"

"Uhm, it’s about your half-brother," Kim Heedo said while scratching his cheek. "I know you said you don’t want to be involved in his life, but I still asked Ahjussi to keep an eye on him and your mother in case you change your mind. That’s how we found out about his predicament. Uhm, I’m sorry for doing something behind your back again."

"I’m more curious than pissed, so spill it already. What happened to my mother’s new son?"

"He’s involved in a drug scandal. Apparently, he distributes drugs to his schoolmates."

"What the fuck?"

"I’m not yet done, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, already rubbing Sohee’s back as if he was trying to make him relax. "Those drugs are, apparently, the "miracle pills" that can change Betas and turn them into Omegas."

That again?!

Sohee shut his eyes tight while pinching the bridge of his nose. "I thought I should quit for good, but I guess it’s time for me to smoke again."

***

KIM HEEDO returned to the floor where Hong Sera’s room was alone.

Park Sohee said he wanted to smoke alone, so he left his husband in the hospital’s smoking area.

Of course, Shin Kang was there to keep an eye on Park Sohee.

"What?" Heedo asked indifferently when he noticed Han Raehyun looking at him as if he wanted to say something. "Why did you leave Sera alone in the room?"

Han Raehyun was leaning against the wall next to the door, his hands in his pockets.

"Sera is already awake, and she said she didn’t want to see me in the meantime."

"Ah, okay," Heedo said, but when he held the doorknob, Han Raehyun grabbed his arm. So, he turned to the dude with knitted eyebrows. "What?"

"Did Sera really have a liver transplant during that time?"

I really don’t want to tattle, but...

"Sera wasn’t throwing a tantrum the day she insisted you come to her— she was actually in pain because of the liver disease that she didn’t know about yet at the time," Heedo said, sighing. "That’s all I can tell you. Ask Sera for the rest. You two need to talk about what really happened in the past instead of avoiding it."

Han Raehyun seemed to have lost strength because he let go of Heedo’s arm without saying anything.

Haaah.

Actually, Heedo wanted to say more.

But Sera is my friend and not Han Raehyun, so I’ll take Sera’s side— especially since I know Sera is innocent.

Hence, Heedo just patted Han Raehyun’s shoulder before going inside the room.

Just like what Han Raehyun said, Hong Sera was already awake.

Thank goodness her complexion is back to normal.

"Once you’re done with the IV drip, we’re flying back to Seoul," Heedo said, sitting on the chair next to the bed. "I already called your family. They insist that you should get a general check-up at your grandmother’s hospital."

Since it was an emergency, they would be using Hong Sera’s private plane to fly back to Seoul.

I’m sorry, Sohee Hyung— our lifestyle is, indeed, bad for Mother Earth.

"Can you book a flight for Han Raehyun?" Sera asked in a weak voice. "I don’t want to see him in the meantime."

"Han Raehyun is an adult— he can return to Seoul on his own."

"Please."

"Fine," Heedo said, sighing. "Uh, I’d like to apologize for revealing your medical history in front of Han Raehyun and Sohee Hyung."

"It’s alright. You had to do it because it was an emergency."

"I’m also sorry for telling Sohee Hyung about your involvement in what happened to Jin Minki in the past."

"I don’t mind since I trust Sohee Oppa," Hong Sera said, knitting her eyebrows. "But you must have a reason for telling Sohee Oppa about my past."

"Sohee Hyung was also attacked by the same person who attacked Jin Minki."

Of course, Heedo got Park Sohee’s permission to share that with Hong Sera.

Because Hyung wants me to tell Sera why I had to share her story with Hyung.

"That person is really evil," Hong Sera said bitterly. It was rare for her to say that kind of thing to other people, but that perverted teacher deserved that. "I’m glad he’s in jail now."

"I know, right?" Heedo nodded in agreement. "And I’ll make sure he’ll rot there."

I’ll make sure that bastard who hurt Sohee Hyung won’t make it out of prison alive.

Anyway, now that they were talking about the past...

"Hong Sera, something else happened before that tragic day, right?" Heedo asked bluntly. "If I remember correctly, you had a big argument with Jin Minki then. Han Raehyun doesn’t know about that, but I do. I didn’t hear your conversation since I was a bit far from you, but I saw Jin Minki crying and begging on his knees—"

"Heedo-ya, please stop."

"Why are you protecting Jin Minki?" Heedo asked, frustrated. "I feel bad for Jin Minki, yes. But just because he’s a victim doesn’t give him the right to hurt other people."

"Kim Heedo."

Haaah.

"Fine. I won’t force you to talk if you don’t want to," Heedo said, shaking his head. "But if you need help, tell me."

Hong Sera just nodded, and then she quickly changed the topic. "Where is Sohee Hyung? Did you leave him at the villa?"

"Hyung is here," Heedo said. "He’s just having a smoke break."

After all, he dropped several pieces of bad news on his husband.

I yapped too much today, huh?

Heedo left out one thing, though.

Should I tell Sohee Hyung about the little experiment I’m conducting with Kyungmin Hyung?

***

BLERGH.

Lee Junsu threw up again.

He knew that taking those ’miracle pills’ would leave him in that state, but he didn’t know it would hurt like hell.

I feel like I’ve already thrown up even my organs.

Lee Junsu had been stuck in his fancy apartment for days because he was sick.

And yet...

"What do you mean just taking the miracle pills alone won’t turn me into an Omega?" Lee Junsu asked after washing his mouth. "What else do I need? Those fucking pills are expensive as hell."

Even for a rich and successful idol like him, the miracle pills were still on the expensive side for him.

I’m not a chaebol, after all.

Sangwoo, his "manager," lifted his head and smiled at Lee Junsu. "We just need a Hyper-Dominant Alpha’s pheromones to complete your transition, Junsu-ya."

"Hyper-Dominant Alphas? Do they really exist?"

"Yes, but they’re rarer and fewer than Dominant Alphas."

"If they’re rare, how can we find one?"

"We already found him."

"Huh?"

"Several years ago, a Hyper-Dominant Alpha appeared in the Black Market to buy the miracle pills," Sangwoo said, leaning against the backseat of his chair. "At the time, the miracle pills were just used to scam Betas desperate to become Omegas. But that Hyper-Dominant Alpha changed the game when he completed the missing "ingredient" to make the miracle pills work."

"Did he succeed?"

"He turned his Beta lover into an Omega. They’re married now and have a son."

"You talk as if you know this person well."

"According to my informant, the Hyper-Dominant Alpha who made the miracle pills work was none other than Song Sihyuk— the future chairman of the SG Group."

To say that Lee Junsu was shocked would be an understatement.

But then again, he shouldn’t have been surprised.

In this country, chaebols get away with everything.

"Song Sihyuk is a chaebol known for being ruthless. Apparently, he acts like a thug despite being born with a diamond spoon in his mouth..." Lee Junsu paused for a moment when he realized something important. "Wait. I heard from our CEO that my direct sunbae-nim— Lim Garam Sunbae-nim— married the heir of SG Group recently."

"They only got married recently, but they already have a child in daycare."

"Then it must be true. Lim Garam Sunbae-nim was a Beta back when he was still active as an idol. So, Song Sihyuk turned him into an Omega?"

Sangwoo nodded in agreement. "Then Song Sihyuk used his money to hide that he’s the Hyper-Dominant Alpha who practically created the complete miracle pills."

"Are you sure that the information you got is real?"

"Our informant has "celestial eyes," so we can trust them."

It sounded ridiculous.

But Lee Junsu had already met a shaman that made him believe in the supernatural.

I wouldn’t be here if not for that shaman, after all.

"Let’s say that Song Sihyuk is really the Hyper-Dominant Alpha we need to complete my miracle pills," Lee Junsu said, raising an eyebrow. "How do we convince him to help us?"

"Song Sihyuk has a child he treasures as much as he loves his husband," Sangwoo said, smiling. "If we kidnap the child, won’t Song Sihyuk give us whatever we want?"
