My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Chapter 14
Hearing What Valentina just said.
Raymond’s lips curled into a small smile, his crimson eyes filled with amusement.
"My wife wouldn’t go for less," he said smoothly. "That’s why I brought you here."
Valentina, however, didn’t share his amusement. She shifted uncomfortably, her hands gripping the edges of her scarf. This wasn’t just about the price of the clothes—this was about their future. She wanted to protect Raymond in every way possible. He wasn’t from any of the top families she had known growing up, and she didn’t want him to spend money so carelessly, especially on things that weren’t necessary.
They had a future to build, a name to make.
She wanted them to be the ones people in the city talked about—not because of their wealth, but because of what they had accomplished together.
Taking a deep breath, she shook her head.
"Raymond," she said firmly, "let’s go somewhere else. Somewhere less expensive. I wasn’t looking for anything this luxurious."
However Raymond raised an eyebrow but remained silent as she continued.
"I know this place," she said, glancing at the elegant boutique. "The price of just one dress here could buy me ten good outfits somewhere else. It’s not practical."
Raymond exhaled softly, his smile never fading. She was always thinking ahead, always worrying about the long-term picture. He admired that about her.
He reached for her hand, his touch warm and firm.
"You don’t have to worry," he said gently. "I brought you here because I know you. I know you love good quality, and I know you don’t settle for less." His thumb traced soft circles on her palm.
"I also know you’re trying to be careful with me because you think I’m not used to this. That I don’t belongs within the top families in the country."
Valentina opened her mouth to argue, but before she could, Raymond tightened his grip slightly, his expression softening.
"This is just my own little way of apologizing," he murmured. "For keeping you waiting all those years."
Hearing Raymond’s words, Valentina felt a deep warmth in her chest, but she also couldn’t understand why he kept apologizing. She had already told him—he had done more than enough for her.
She sighed, shaking her head. "Raymond, you’ve already given me more than I could have ever asked for," she said softly.
"I don’t understand why you keep apologizing, when you haven’t offended me."
Raymond simply looked at her, his gaze unwavering, but before he could say anything, she continued.
"I’ll only go in there on one condition," she said firmly, crossing her arms. "When I start working again, I’m paying you back."
Raymond raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his crimson eyes.
He knew Valentina well enough to understand that once she set her mind on something, there was no changing it. She was stubborn, a woman of her word.
He exhaled softly, shaking his head with a small smirk.
"Fine," he said. "If that’s what it takes to get you inside."
Valentina smiled in victory as they stepped out of the car and made their way into Everything Luxury.
Once inside, they headed straight for the clothing department. The store was filled with elegant, high-end designs, and the soft scent of expensive perfumes lingered in the air.
Valentina walked past racks of clothing, scanning the selections carefully. As always, she was practical—her eyes immediately went to the simpler, less expensive options.
She started picking a few pieces that she thought were reasonably priced when Raymond spoke from beside her.
"Pick anything you like," he said casually. "I’ll be right back."
Valentina hesitated but nodded, watching as he walked away.
Left alone, she turned back to the clothes, trying to calculate the best way to economize. She didn’t want to spend too much—it wasn’t just about money, but about principles.
However, before she could finalize her choices, Raymond returned.
To her absolute shock, he was carrying a pile of clothes—far more than she could have ever picked herself. The sheer number of items made her blink in disbelief.
"Raymond—" she started, ready to protest, but then something stopped her.
She took a closer look.
Every single item was in one of her favorite colors. Soft, elegant hues that she had always preferred. And more than that, the styles were exactly what she liked—modest, refined, and smart.
Clothes that covered her well, without being overly revealing, yet still made her look graceful and confident.
At that moment her mouth opened slightly in surprise before she finally turned to Raymond.
"How did you know?" she asked, curiosity shining in her glowing blue eyes. "How did you know my favorite colors? And the type of clothes I like?"
Hearing Valentina’s question, Raymond knew he was going too far. His instincts, his desire to please her, to give her everything, were pushing him beyond what was normal. But he had to be careful—he couldn’t let her start suspecting anything.
So, he simply smiled.
"I saw some of the clothes you came with," he said smoothly. "That’s how I knew the colors you like. And as for the dresses..." He glanced at the neatly folded garments in his arms.
"I just felt they would look good on you."
Valentina studied him for a moment, her glowing blue eyes searching his face. Then, to his relief, she smiled. A genuine, warm smile.
"Well, you chose well," she admitted.
Deciding to test them out, Valentina took the clothes to the fitting room. One by one, she tried them on, and to her surprise, every single outfit fit perfectly. The colors, the cut, the fit—everything was exactly her size and style.
When she stepped out, she couldn’t stop smiling.
"I love them," she said softly, almost in disbelief.
Raymond smirked.
"Of course you do."
With that, the clothes were taken to the counter and paid for.
But when Valentina saw the total—one million dollars—her expression darkened.
"This is too much," she said immediately.
Raymond, however, remained unfazed.
"You deserve the best, Valentina," he said simply, signing the receipt without hesitation.
Even as they walked out of the store, Valentina was still trying to process the amount spent. She shook her head, sighing. "Raymond, this is beyond expensive..."
Raymond only chuckled. "You’re worth it."
Valentina exhaled, realizing she wasn’t going to win this argument.
As they made their way through the clothing department, she suddenly stopped.
"I need to use the restroom," she said.
Raymond immediately stepped forward.
"I’ll go with you."
Immediately Valentina raised an eyebrow, amused.
"Raymond, I’m not a child. I’m not going to get lost," she teased.
He frowned slightly but didn’t argue.
"Fine. But don’t take too long."
She smiled.
"I’ll be quick."
With that, she turned and walked away, disappearing into the restroom area.
Raymond sighed, standing near one of the boutique displays, waiting for her.
Then, from behind him, a voice cut through the air.
"Could it be I’m dreaming? Who is it I’m seeing here?"
