My Pet Beast is really not an Evil God-Chapter 53 - 50 Sacrifice (Seeking Recommendations, Monthly Tickets)

Chapter 53 -50: Sacrifice (Seeking Recommendations, Monthly Tickets)
Ten minutes ago, in the sky above the Abandoned City District.
A pale hand, as gargantuan as a giant’s, stretched out from the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud.
It seemed to want to touch the buildings in Abyss City, but as soon as it reached out, it was bounced off by the Starlight Barrier.
A vast number of cracks appeared on the arm, like shattered porcelain.
Very quickly it shattered with a crackling sound, the fragments in the air generating dozens of mini versions of the soul-stealing demons, covered in cracks, following behind.
Although it seemed to have no eyes, Gary Smith could sense that it was greedily looking at the living beings below.
Was it about to attack?
Gary found himself holding his breath, on the edge of his seat.
However, the next moment, the Soul-Stealing Demon Cloud did not continue to attack.
Instead, it changed direction, concealed itself, and returned to the Abandoned City District.
“It seems to be afraid of the power of the Alliance…”
Seeing this, Gary couldn’t help but exhale.
If a real battle were to break out, he wouldn’t be able to yell “stop fighting, stop fighting,” given that this creature could genuinely kill people.
Fortunately, the underlying strength of Abyss City was much stronger than he had imagined, the Soul-Stealing Demon Cloud not only posed no threat to Abyss City, but was directly rebounded and injured.
It was not evenly matched, but was at a lower level.
No wonder it had managed to stand firm in the borderlands for so many years.
Gary was pleasantly surprised.
After all, his status was a member of the Alliance, and roughly he could be considered the future successor of the Alliance.
Although he might not necessarily be the one to take over, at least when he couldn’t get by, he could go to the Gold and cling to their thigh.
“Mousie is almost suffocating!”
The hamster struggled to squeeze its fluffy head out of Gary’s hand, peering through the gap at the outside world.
Its tiny eyes gleamed with joy: “Phew…finally it’s over.
This big guy is coming out more and more frequently, I don’t know what it’s peeking at outside the city every day, does it want to go in and play like Mousie?”
Upon hearing that, Gary was shocked and asked, “Wait, you’re saying it’s not the first time it’s come close to the city?”
“Yep, this guy came with those black-clad fellas.
They come out every few days and make trouble, and every time they get a little closer to the city, it’s scary!
But the stuff they leave behind after their ceremonies is really tasty.
It even gave me the ability to manipulate shadows,” Mousie replied while wiping its saliva.
This response stunned Gary.
A lightbulb went off in his head, catching a clue, he hurriedly asked, “When did you become a super creature?”
“Based on your human time, I think it was about two and a half months ago…”
Mousie gave the answer without hesitation.
After all, lazing around every day could be stressful, so it remembered the time quite clearly.
As it spoke, it subconsciously twisted its body into a position for easier petting, but suddenly froze midway.
What’s happening!?
When did I become this perverted cultivator’s pet!?
Has this human used some sort of illusion to confuse my consciousness?
Or was it what I saw on the TV when I was at the house of my first little girl owner…
Under demonic influence?
Mousie’s eyes dimmed and it entered the mode of self-defeat.
Gary didn’t pay it much attention.
His eyes narrowed as he pinpointed an important clue he had overlooked:
‘Eye of Truth had reported that Mousie had mutated after sneaking a taste of the Evil God’s devotee’s blood after a sacrifice.’
Because the Alliance had openly announced that the Abandoned City District was abandoned due to the rust corruption of the battlefield where the Evil God’s Kindred had been killed, plus the quietude of the Abandoned City District for decades, he had not initially thought that there might be any sort of seal there.
Gary had thought that Mousie stole a taste elsewhere and then found refuge in the Abandoned City District, which was infested with demons.
But in fact, on closer consideration, problems emerge…
Although getting rid of rust is a nuisance, would the cost of that cleanup be higher than building a new city?
No way!
In this world where pet beasts have integrated into all walks of life, you could just let some rust-eating beasts clear it up.
But the Alliance did not do this, indicating that there was something unstable in the Abandoned City District which could possibly cause even greater damage.
But they didn’t move far away, they simply build New Town next door.
While it could be considered as a buffer zone, it feels more like they’re watching over something,
Such as an Evil God’s Kindred that was not killed decades ago, but instead sealed within.
New Town is close by and can observe the situation at any time.
If the other party breaks the seal, they can suppress it in the Hundred Beasts Tower immediately.
Then everything would make sense.
Based on the timeline the Shadow Rat had told him, he pieced together multiple clues within his mind:
About two and a half months ago, a mysterious individual arrived with the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud, located the spot where the Evil God’s Kindred was sealed, and conducted a ritual sacrifice.
However, they were unsuccessful in breaking the seal.
The abandoned city district, allowing demons to occupy it without worrying about the seal being destroyed, is likely because the core of the seal is located in the heart of Abyss City, with the most significant probability being the Star Cluster Beast Tower, which stands there like a guardian deity.
Hence, they could only hide in the abandoned city district, looking for an opportunity to destroy the Star Cluster Beast Tower.
But due to the powerful Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud requiring a large quantity of souls to feed on periodically, it often comes hunting.
The corpses which had their souls eaten by it inevitably fall prey to other demons, their vast spiritual power prompting the demons to evolve.
For instance, a particular individual being restrained within the Mad Blood Hyena might have restrained its madness to evolve into a Bloodthirsty Hyena.
After gaining intelligence, it became aware of the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud’s existence.
Due to fear, it moved towards the fringes of the abandoned city district where fewer demons reside, in order to avoid being hunted.
However, unfortunately, the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud does not feed solely based on instinct; it’s controlled by a person.
Thus, its feeding path would come closer and closer to the outskirts of Abyss City, probing the power of the Hundred Beasts Tower.
Every visit would alert the Mad Blood Hyenas, naturally keen on instinct and further enhanced by the tentacles, to the danger.
Madness doesn’t imply mindlessly walking towards death.
Fear could trigger rationality.
Faced with the suppression of higher demons, they instinctively flee in the opposite direction, attacking the rune iron net at the border.
This deduction wasn’t Gary Smith’s wild guess, but because he had previously seen the rune iron net.
Although it had been attacked, the attacks were mostly disorganized, with every location being different, resembling the frantic scratches left in a state of terror by the Mad Blood Hyenas.
Upon discovery by the homeowners of the Emerald Community, they were thrown into panic, collectively issuing a mission – exterminate the Mad Blood Hyenas.
But even so, after the general public completes the mission and witnesses the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud, at most, they would think a terrifying demon has moved into the abandoned city district.
Even the officials are not clear about their specific purpose.
They can only assume that, like other Cults of the Evil God, they want to attack the city and sacrifice the human species.
But Gary Smith, through the clues provided by the Eye of Truth, linked all these fragmented events together.
He discovered that this Cult of Evil God is different from previous small-scale occurrences.
They are not only aware of the existence of the seal but have also collected some of the Blood of Followers.
They are also using the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud to probe the Tower’s operation mechanism to destruct it, attempting to release the sealed Evil God’s Kindred.
If successful, millions of people in Abyss City could potentially be sacrificed, turning into fodder for the evil god.
“Why does it feel like I’ve become the protagonist investigator in a detective novel who has accidentally landed in the middle of an evil organization’s scheme…”
Gary Smith complained, wondering why his luck had been so poor ever since his transmigration.
Were all good-looking people targeted?
If they were, then it was even worse.
But it made the trials worth the handsome face!
But connected to that, he was reminded of another problem.
If these mysterious devotees of the Evil God arrived two and a half months ago, including the preparation for the ritual as well as mining the Blood of Followers, it coincided with the time his parents had an accident, and the time he awakened the Eye of Truth.
Was this truly just a coincidence?
Regrettably, the Eye of Truth isn’t an all-knowing eye.
The information gathered is still limited, unable to delve into the adversary’s origin or their next steps.
But even if he has gained the knowledge, he wouldn’t be like a protagonist in a detective novel. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Full of fervor, he wouldn’t rashly intervene in such a grand plan.
In reality, there’s no plot armor to protect him.
With a hint of carelessness, he might end up sacrificing himself.
What he can do is…
Call the police!
He can use the Fog Crow to send an anonymous letter to the alliance, mentioning some intelligence to increase its credibility, and to let them understand that the seal is being tampered with.
Ultimate force has to be used against this Cult of Evil God.
This is his strategy of using one enemy to devour another.
Even if they can’t be wiped out, at least it will pressure them to shrink back, unable to carry out their plan.
Thus, buying him more time to improve his strength safely.
“I’m still too weak, missing out on such good opportunities.”
Gary Smith sighed.
If he had strength beyond that of the Morning Star, he could definitely extract the Soul-Devouring Demon Cloud, even the Evil God’s Kindred in the seal, as materials.
To a capitalist, not earning is equivalent to losing,
Have they left?
After a wait, he looked up at the sky and discovered that while the Soul- Devouring Demon Cloud had flown far away, some of its smaller bodies which had broken off and split after its pale arm shattered, didn’t return.
Instead, they descended upon the earth, indiscriminately attacking the demons.
“Gurgling…”
With their special soul interference magnetic fields, it was a dimensional strike on ordinary demons.
After frightening them, they directly encircled their heads with tentacles and slurped up their souls.
As one demon after another fell, the cracks on their bodies started repairing gradually.
Looking at these horrifying smaller bodies, Gary Smith didn’t feel any fear.
Instead, an audacious idea floated in his mind…
