Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 121: Second Soul Talent’s Power, Roping in Emperor Pets
Chapter 121: Second Soul Talent’s Power, Roping in Emperor Pets
1. [Piercing Brilliance]: Increases the target’s (object or living being) piercing power and speed by 100%, at the cost of 50% of your soul energy.
2. [Spatial Eye]: Allows you to conjure an eye that can see through objects and living beings up to several layers. Costs 30% of soul energy.
3. [Astral Phantom]: Projects a 3D illusion that 100% mimics the user’s aura and actions in real time. The phantom can be set to attack, flee, or mimic any movement. It can be exploded by the user or when its durability hits zero, releasing a disorienting space-light pulse that causes vertigo, daze, and disrupts energy flow briefly. The user can also switch places with the phantom. 50% of the soul energy cost to create an Astral Phantom.
John’s eyes glinted.
There wasn’t much to think about. Astral Phantom was hands down the best among the three.
John selected it without hesitation.
"Behold, my second soul talent," John said with a grin and moved two steps to the side, revealing another John with the same grin, appearance, and aura behind him.
Jibril and Azelis were startled.
"Clone-type soul talent?" Azelis was startled. "But this is so lifelike..."
"Wow, but is it just a clone, or does it have some effects?" Jibril asked.
"It has some effects," John said. "One thing I am discovering now is that I can share my senses with it. It’s like I have a screen in my head that relays to me everything it sees, hears, touches, and so on."
"As for the main effect," John grinned and snapped his finger.
Instantly, both John fickered slightly and so subtly that one would miss it easily.
Azelis blinked.
Jibril tilted her head.
"Did you just switch places with your clone?" Azelis was shocked. "That’s powerful!"
"Amazing..." Jibril was dazed. A clone that can be used to switch places was crazy useful!
"If you think that’s all there is, you’re both mistaken," John said with a chuckle. "This clone can also release projectile-type soul techniques and geno abilities, but they won’t have any substance to them as they are merely illusions, though they will look real. Another thing is that if it’s destroyed or if I want to destroy it, it will do this."
As he finished speaking, John snapped his finger again and the clone suddenly exploded in a strange wavy pulse of light within a 50-meter radius in an instant, like a flash of light, making Azelis and Jibril dizzy.
Jibril even threw up and almost fell to the side as John quickly held her while Azelis had to use her soul energy, which also became harder to control.
"What the..." Azelis wryly smiled as she rubbed her temple. "This effect is powerful. Your enemies are going to be ultra annoyed with this."
"It was so uncomfortable," Jibril weakly said as she let out a dry chuckle. "You’ve gotten more powerful now, John. Congrats."
"This soul talent fixed another issue. When I appear as my new identity, I can use this soul talent to make my true self appear alongside, as my new identity’s apprentice."
"What? New identity?" Jibril was confused.
"Oh yeah, Jibril isn’t aware of the plan yet." Azelis chuckled. "Well, for starters, I resigned from the Ouroboros Hall because of the incident."
"What?!" Jibril was shocked. "T-Then what about your progress and-"
"No worries." John laughed and said. "You should also forfeit your current Monster Geno Art and practice in a true way."
"Azelis, I’ll leave her to you. Explain the things she doesn’t know, and help her make her Spirit Physique. I’ll go and get ourselves some Emperor-rank Monsters."
John vanished from his spot and arrived before the prison cells.
Jason and Tavros were suffering from the volatile spikes pricking them, and blood was all over, but John threw ten leaves made from his first talent—Lifebloom Enchantment, inside each prison cell.
"Eat them before you bleed to death. A single leaf will heal you and also recover your stamina."
Tavros quickly ate a leaf while Jason also begrudgingly picked one and ate it as their wounds began healing.
Since these were normal wounds, and not the magic wounds inflicted from attributed skills, a single leaf healed everything.
"Now, Tavros. How about I let you summon your Pet Monsters?" John asked with a grin.
Tavros froze.
And then he jumped and grabbed the bars with his hands and legs, sticking to them despite the spikes from the bars piercing him as he began uttering gibberish with fervent expression!
"Wow, you really can’t control your expressions." John burst into laughter.
Tavros’s expression was shifting between pleading, gratefulness, and most of all, hatred towards John.
He wanted to release his Pets and command them to kill John, but he didn’t want to show that, so he was trying to appear grateful and pleading with him, yet he couldn’t mask his hatred.
In the end, John lets him summon his Pet Monsters.
Instantly, six gigantic and terrifying Monsters with powerful auras spreading all around appeared.
But the moment they appeared, all six of his Pet Monsters vanished and appeared in six different prisons that were 20% smaller than each pet’s actual size.
All the monsters were squeezed into the prison cell, forcing them to turn into mini-form before they tried escaping through the gaps between the bars, but failed as a powerful shock rebounded them back like a bullet.
"Hello, cute babies." John arrived before them, grinning. The prison cells shrank further as he spoke.
"Fuck, why’d he do that!"
"Damn it. What our fucking stupid master did this time?"
"What’s going on?!"
"He commanded us to attack, but here we are..."
"Wait, why are we speaking like this?!"
John cleared his throat loudly.
The pets turned silent, and all of them collectively looked at John.
"Did you capture our master and do this to us?" Luxveil Mirage Stag asked.
Mawcaster Lavahart Serpent hissed and said, "Why did you do that?"
"Something like this was bound to happen, humph." Nexlock Glacient Lion snorted.
"I feel the same," Duskspire Ashveil Jaguar said with a nod.
"Roar!!" Gravemarch Ironcap Juggerbeast, a monster resembling a mix of Rhino and Elephant, roared before saying. "What are you going to do to us?!"
"Maybe, he plans to eat us..." Whispthorn Windveil Crow said with a dejected expression.
John laughed and said, "Chill. I am not going to do anything bad to you. In fact, I plan to evolve you."
"It’s better than I let fellow Monsters talk to you about my powers, so I’ll do just that."
John vanished and went to talk to his Pet Monsters, as well as Crocky, Sony, Merc, Cheron, and Ophis.
Afterward, he teleported the six prison cells to the Monster Hub area, where other Monsters interacted with each other.
As those six monsters suddenly found themselves in a large open area with thinly spread trees and small ponds occupied by various Monsters, a big board displaying contribution ranking, and other things, the six Emperor-rank Monsters were shocked.
The other Monsters were also startled.
"Woah, Master John seems to have captured the big shots."
"Damn, Emperor-rank Monsters?"
"Shit, they are going to take over the contribution leaderboard...."
"It’s been three days since we got new tasks. I want to eat the delicious meat dishes more..."
"We still get to eat one every day. Don’t be greedy."
Soon, the six Emperor-rank Monsters were approached by Alfred, Pymon, Rexion, Crocky, and others.
"Hello, my name is Alfred. I am John’s closest companion."
"...Bro, you don’t need to boast like that," Pymon speechlessly said.
"I am the strongest companion of Master John!" Rexion said while grinning.
"No, you’re not. Shut it," Merc said with a snort.
"We are here to show off the abilities of Master John, so let us stick to that," Ophis said in a calm tone as she approached the six Emperor-rank Monsters and continued.
"Listen, Master John has many powers. One is this whole world where he can create places that Monsters desire. You are free here, you can speak here, and there are many more things to be discovered."
From nearby, a Quad-Armed Steel Panda quipped in. "It’s heaven here, brothers and sisters!"
The six Emperor-rank Monsters still had dumbfounded expressions.
"Second thing. He has a 100% success rate in evolving Monsters, and he always evolves us to the highest potential rank. You can see that by checking the eight of us," Sony said as he hissed while grinning.
Looking at the Mawcaster Lavahart Serpant, Sony added. "As a fellow serpent, I can only say that if you miss out on this opportunity, you’re stupid."
"..."
"Because we have the potential to become dragons, and Master John can make it possible."
"He can make a hybrid dragon even if you don’t originally have the potential to become a dragon," Alfred calmly said. "That’s how his powers work. He can directly use genes of other Monsters to affect evolution, but once he unlocks one more power after breaking through to Gold-rank, he can do even better and more precise evolutions."
Suddenly, John arrived there and approached the prison cells while smiling. "Look all around you."
"This is a Monster Paradise that I just started building. What I have in vision is far grander and greater than what you can imagine."
"So, how about you abandon your shitty master, and join me?"
Nexlock Glacient Lion narrowed his eyes and said, "But we are contracted. If he dies, we die. We cannot be released from the contract unless he wills it and he won’t will it."
"And if he commands us while we are contract-bound, we have to obey him," Duskspire Ashveil Jaguar said.
"Don’t worry about that," John said as his eyes glinted, his smile sharper. "I am in the middle of working out how to break the contract without affecting the Pet Monsters."
"My aim is to create a new type of contract that doesn’t bind monsters’ life to the Tamers because that’s just shitty. I don’t like that. Though creating such a type contract is going to take a while, so for now, I am figuring out a method to break it."
John grinned. "And I am using your Master and another fellow as my experiment subjects. Wish me good luck, so you all can live a better life with me."
