Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]-Chapter 223 - Extreme Alpha
Chapter 223: Chapter 223 - Extreme Alpha
Shao walked down the dim hallway like a ghost with a pulse, the pillow clutched tightly to his chest as if letting go would unravel the tight knot in his chest.
He didn’t even care where he was headed anymore. All he wanted was to bury his flushed face into the bed, press it down into the pillow, and pray the raging thoughts inside him would go quiet.
The hallway ended. He stood in front of the room. His room. He reached for the door, planning to knock, maybe mumble an excuse, when—
The door creaked open halfway before he could touch it.
Yunfeng stood there.
His usually impassive face was now sharp with emotion. The shadows in the room behind him made his newly changed blue-green eyes burn like twin flames. They weren’t just glaring—they were challenging.
Shao blinked, startled. "Why aren’t you opening the door all the way?"
Yunfeng didn’t answer at first. Just stared at him in that eerily silent, smoldering way that made Shao’s skin itch with unease.
Yunfeng growled "Shift rooms. Send Jai and Kailun here."
The words slammed into Shao’s chest like a punch. He stiffened, brows knitting.
"What?" His voice was sharper than he intended. "Why should he come here?"
The rawness inside him—already frayed and exposed—began to burn.
It wasn’t just confusion.
It was possession. Jealousy.
That strange, boiling need to not let go.
His grip on the pillow tightened as he stepped forward, glaring down at the younger man.
"Why?" he demanded again, something close to a growl in his throat.
But Yunfeng didn’t move. He didn’t flinch. In fact, he closed the door further—just enough to leave one narrow crack. One eye visible. Cold. Gleaming.
"If you don’t want to die," Yunfeng said softly, "just shift rooms."
The air turned to ice.
Shao blinked, frozen—not because of the words, but because of the feeling in them. It wasn’t a threat from a child. It was something else. Something that scraped against the part of him that recognized danger, that ancient primal warning in the bones.
And then—SLAM.
The door slammed shut in his face. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Shao stood there in the hallway, stunned. The overhead lights flickered briefly, and he could hear the faint buzz of electric failure in the wires. But he didn’t move.

Inside the room, the silence was heavy until Muchen broke it with a stunned whisper, "You can’t talk to him like that, Yunfeng. He’s my best friend."
Yunfeng turned to him, still standing stiff near the door. The cold gleam hadn’t left his sharp, glinting eyes, and his expression didn’t soften even at the mention of their bond.
"So?" he said flatly, his tone brittle with restrained emotion.
Muchen’s brows drew together. He sat up, his voice rising with frustration, "So you’re not allowed to talk to him like that! Got it?"
Yunfeng didn’t answer as he sat down next to hom. Instead, he pouted, lip trembling ever so slightly, though his gaze remained hard. "Why do you stand up for him?" he asked, voice low, almost a whisper.
Muchen blinked at him. "If not me, then who will fight for my friend?" he asked softly, and before Yunfeng could retreat again, Muchen reached forward, pulling his hands into his own. "Tell me... What did Shao do to piss you off like that?"
Yunfeng looked betrayed. Offended, even. "You really don’t know?" His tone was sharp, almost wounded. "Can’t you smell it? That fucking— sorry... that man is emanating his scent like an animal everywhere. It’s too intense! I can’t even breathe!" He wiped at his nose roughly, as if trying to erase the scent from his skin.
Muchen blinked and tilted his head slightly. He inhaled through his nose, subtly. A faint whiff of warm agarwood and citrus lingered, pleasant and calming, like incense at a temple.
"It’s not that bad..." he murmured, genuinely confused.
Yunfeng gasped, scandalized.
"You’re attracted to his scent!"
Muchen rolled his eyes at the theatrics, tugging Yunfeng’s hand with an exasperated scoff. "It’s a nice scent, that’s all. What’s wrong with that?"
But Yunfeng didn’t answer right away. His eyes dropped to the floor his jaw clenched tight.
"You don’t understand..." he finally whispered, voice barely audible. "He... He doesn’t seem like a normal alpha. His scent is way too strong... It’s like—like those extreme alphas."
Muchen frowned, caught off guard by the term. "Extreme?"
Yunfeng nodded quickly, stepping even closer, lowering his voice as though afraid the walls could listen. "They exist. Not many. But those kinds of alphas... they have unhinged instincts. Their pheromones are so overpowering that even other alphas can’t resist reacting. I’ve heard horror stories."
He swallowed hard, visibly shaken.
"There was this one case... An extreme alpha tied his omega to the bed every day before going out. Just so no one else could see him." His hands trembled in Muchen’s. "The omega agency had to intervene, and when they took the omega away—" he choked a little, "—he went feral. He killed five alphas who got too close to his mate in a single night. Ripped through their throats like a wild animal."
A chill ran down Muchen’s spine.
"I-Is that... what you think Shao is?" he asked carefully.
Yunfeng looked up at him with haunted eyes. "I don’t think. I can feel it. His pheromones are off the charts. I’m a hybrid, remember? My senses are different from yours. Even if you think it’s just a pleasant smell, for people like me... it’s warning sirens going off."
Muchen was quiet.
Yunfeng clenched his fists again. "I don’t want to see anyone hurt, okay? Especially not you.
Muchen’s eyes softened.
His lover continued, "That alpha is teetering on the edge of something dangerous. And I’d rather you hate me for being rude... than regret not doing something when it’s too late."
To console him Muchen gently hugged him close.
Yunfeng was just beginning to relax in Muchen’s embrace when he felt the sudden shift.
Muchen suddenly grabbed him by his wrist.
Before Yunfeng could react, Muchen had turned, reached for the rumpled shirt tossed in the corner of the bed, and looped it deftly around Yunfeng’s wrists. With practiced strength, he pulled the ends tight and secured them to the bedpost behind.
"Wha—?" Yunfeng blinked rapidly, eyes wide with surprise as he tugged against the cloth binding his hands. "Muchen?" His voice was half confusion, half curiosity.
Then slowly, a smile spread across his face. Mischievous. Almost dangerous. His cheeks flushed a soft pink, and his lashes lowered just a bit as he tilted his head. "Why are you tying me up to the bed...?" he whispered, voice featherlight, teasing. "So that no one can see me?"
His eyes trailed shamelessly over Muchen’s naked chest and arms, lingering over the two pink dots that drove him crazy. "Are you that kind of omega as well?" he teased.
But Muchen didn’t smile.
"No," he said simply, his voice quiet but edged in steel. "I tied you up because I want answers."
Yunfeng froze. The smirk on his lips faltered.
Muchen moved closer, placing his hands on either side of Yunfeng’s bound form, his face mere inches away. "You know too much," he said, voice low, each word deliberate. "You knew about the infection before it could even happen. You knew that the city was going to be bombed...And now this—’extreme alphas,’ ’omega control cases,’—how do you know all these things?"
Yunfeng’s lips parted, but no words came.
Muchen’s eyes didn’t waver. "It’s like you’ve seen it all happen before. How do you know what will happen in the future?"
