Chapter 37: Magic Class Part 2

"Like the Knight System, we also have four stages. Who can name them?" Melinda asked, prompting the cadets to raise their hands. She selected Khione.

The ice queen stood up and answered calmly, "Low, Intermediate, High, and lastly, the Apex level. Each of these levels has a name."

"Indeed. Can you enlighten your classmates?" Melinda requested.

At her teacher’s prompting, Khione nodded and continued, "Apprentice, Adept, Master, and finally Grandmaster, also known as Archmage." She sat back down as soon as she finished her explanation.

"Good answer. As Khione mentioned, in our Magic System, a low-level Mage is referred to as an Apprentice Mage, an Intermediate level is called an Adept Mage, while a High level is known as a Master Mage. The final stage, the Apex level, is called Grandmaster, or Archmage. Reaching this level should be your ultimate goal. I won’t lie; not everyone here can attain that level, but by aiming high, you can achieve commendable results. My goal is to help you," Melinda explained, her students nodding with determination in their eyes. Indeed, while not everyone present could reach the Archmage level, that didn’t mean they shouldn’t try; at best, they could aspire to become Master Mages. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"What is primordial energy?" Melinda asked suddenly. Khione was the first cadet to raise her hand. Though her face was devoid of any expression, it couldn’t mask her thirst for knowledge. A true bookworm at heart, she was eager to learn more and share what she knew whenever possible. After all, knowledge is a powerful weapon, setting humanity apart from animals and mindless monsters.

Seeing her expressionless student eager to share her knowledge, Melinda beamed inwardly and naturally chose her.

"Primordial energy comes from life itself. It flows through every living thing, but unfortunately, that doesn’t mean everyone can use it."

It was a simple yet concise explanation. Melinda nodded, pleased with Khione’s answer, and continued, adding a bit more information.

"As your classmate mentioned, Primordial energy is life itself; think of it like the ambient air—extremely vital to any living being because we couldn’t breathe without it. Not everyone can harness this primordial energy, which is also known as Prana. This energy has existed since the beginning of the universe and was used to create our world, shaping it into what it is today. Initially, we couldn’t access this energy, but through trial and error, and with the help of the creator gods, we became able to wield it."

"What is it that Prana provides?" Melinda asked, prompting everyone to raise their hands. Khione was the quickest to respond again, but this time, Melinda chose to give others a chance. It was important to ensure fairness; otherwise, it might seem as though she was showing preferential treatment to Khione, which was not her intent.

This time, Melinda selected Lux, who stood up to provide his answer.

"Prana is the fuel that enables us to utilize the laws. Just as a car won’t function without fuel, primordial energy is what allows us to harness our respective laws to their fullest potential. Thanks to Prana, we can wield our laws effectively."

"Indeed, as Lux mentioned, Prana is what enables us to utilize the laws. It’s like a key that grants us access to a house, with the house representing the Law; we can use this house whenever we want." Melinda used this analogy to further clarify the relationship between primordial energy and law.

"Prana allows us to wield a Law to perform wonders and create magic. The laws are also referred to as elements. As you know, there are different types of Laws—seven main ones—but originally, there were nine. For some reason, the other two have vanished from history and have not reappeared since the Primordial Era. Perhaps it’s simply because the various races created by the gods are unable to use those two laws; they may be incompatible with us. There are many theories, but no one knows the true reason for our inability to access them. Maybe in the future, someone will discover a way to use them, restoring the nine laws instead of the seven we currently have."

The cadets listened intently, eager to absorb any new information like sponges. As Melinda wrapped up her lesson, they recalled what their main teacher had mentioned earlier.

"Who can tell me the names of the two laws lost to history?"

Knowing the answer, they all raised their hands. Melinda chose a girl with drill-like blonde hair and a round face, who went by the name of Francesca.

"Go ahead, Francesca." After receiving her teacher’s approval, she smiled eagerly, casting a subtle glance in Lux’s direction. Every girl dreamed of having a man like Lux—extremely good-looking, with a powerful background and a good character; in short, the ultimate husband material. Coming from a minor family, Francesca had clawed her way into the Elite classroom, and she dreamed of making this exceptional young man hers. Doing so would greatly elevate her family’s status, propelling them from the bottom to the top.

Confident in her looks, Francesca believed that while she might not be on the same level as Khione, Azalea or the princess, no one else could surpass her beauty after them. She saw this as an opportunity to get closer to Lux, slowly winning him over, and why not start by demonstrating her diligence?

"The two lost laws are the Law of Time and the Law of Space."

"Good answer. Indeed, those are the two laws. From their names, you can tell they are immensely powerful. Among the laws, the Law of Fire is known to be the strongest and most devastating, but I can confidently say that the Law of Time and, especially, the Law of Space are even more powerful and destructive. Just imagine being able to control time itself at your will—you could accelerate time, go back, or even stop it completely, allowing you to calmly manage your energy. With the Law of Space, you could travel anywhere you desire and obliterate your enemies using the very fabric of space."

The cadets’ eyes sparkled with excitement, their breathing quickening as they imagined this power.

Suddenly, the bell rang, signaling the end of today’s lesson.

"Let’s pause for today; we will continue later. Next time, we’ll discuss the necessity of a Mage possessing a powerful physique."

The cadets nodded in agreement before packing their belongings and leaving the classroom, heading to the cafeteria.
