Chapter 59: Spirit Stone Mine

"Oh lord! Look at that beautiful woman!"

"Forget the woman, where’s that bald man who slew the Alpha Wyvern? He was so cool!"

"Yes, I don’t see the fallen Wyverns either. Did they established contracts with them already?"

Unbeknownst to them, Igaris had already dismissed Malthius for safety reasons. Letting others see him control an undead might bring trouble in Freedom Force, especially his contact with Drago’s group.

"If you’re all here just to spout nonsense, then it’d be better if you left," Igaris said coldly to the five Summoners.

His striking appearance, paired with a goddess-like companion, stirred envy among them. But after witnessing his overwhelming battle prowess, they knew they weren’t even close to his level—much less hers.

Silenced by his tone, the group exchanged brief glances before nodding among themselves, as if they had reached a consensus.

One of them stepped forward. He was a slender man in fitted armor. He bowed and spoke respectfully:

"Senior, please don’t be in such a rush to leave. We have a proposal that may greatly interest you."

Igaris narrowed his eyes, his tone wary. "What kind of proposal?"

The man smiled faintly and continued,

"We’re willing to share the location of a hidden Wyvern den... in exchange for just 5 babies from the Alpha’s nest."

Their eyes drifted toward the top of the nest, where the Mountain Golem who was retrieving the infant Wyverns.

Upon hearing the offer, Igaris didn’t even try to hide his disdain. He immediately labeled them greedy fools. freeweɓnøvel.com

"Just that? I’m sure I can find Wyverns scattered around if I search a bit. Your proposal is ridiculous. Five Wyvern babies for a piece of information? That’s outrageous," Igaris snapped, uncaring of their older age.

In this world, age meant nothing. Power alone dictated seniority—and they knew it too. None of them dared take offense.

But the slender man raised his hands calmly. "Please, Senior, hear me out. I wasn’t finished yet."

He leaned forward slightly, his voice lowering with importance.

"That Wyvern den we mentioned... it’s actually built on top of a Spirit Stone Mine. The Wyverns are guarding it. And you of all people should know how valuable Spirit Stones are."

"Spirit Stones? What are those?" Igaris couldn’t help but ask aloud. He had never heard of them until now.

"You don’t know what Spirit Stones are, Senior?" one of the Summoners asked, surprised. The others echoed similar disbelief.

Evernight stepped in, her voice patient and calm.

"My Liege, Spirit Stones are crystallized spiritual essence. They’re incredibly rare. When used, they can dramatically accelerate a Spirit Beast’s growth—and naturally, the Summoner grows stronger as a result."

The slender man nodded quickly. "Exactly. This beautiful lady speaks the truth. Most Summoners are lucky to come across a single shard in their lifetime. But we’re talking about a mine of them. If you claim it, the yield could be unimaginable."

Igaris narrowed his eyes. "I see... but that raises another question. Why tell me something so valuable? You’re all part of the Freedom Force, aren’t you? Shouldn’t you report this to your superiors first?"

The slender man hesitated, then exchanged glances with his companions. Finally, he replied honestly.

"Freedom Force would never let us touch something like this. Infant Wyverns, Spirit Mines—those are reserved for the children of high-ranking officials. Even if we made the discovery, we’d be ordered to step aside. That’s why we came to you. We hoped to offer the information in exchange for some Wyvern hatchlings. That way, we’d gain something for our efforts."

"Fufu... at least another one knows how the game is played," Evernight murmured under her breath, her tone amused.

Igaris turned to the slender man with a mild look of interest. "What’s your name?"

The man straightened slightly. "My name is Max. We swear on our Spirit Contracts that we won’t share this information with anyone else, so long as the deal is honored."

Just then, the Mountain King Golem lumbered toward them, its massive frame casting a long shadow. Perched carefully on its broad shoulder were 4 infant Wyverns, each no larger than a puppy, eyes still wild and scales glistening.

The moment Max and his group laid eyes on the infants, their gazes sharpened with greed barely hidden behind respectful expressions. Even if they didn’t have the right affinity to bond with them, they could be sold at an enormous profit through the black market.

Igaris noticed their greedy eyes, but he didn’t care. These infants weren’t his priority—Spirit Stones were. He shrugged.

"Alright... I accept the deal. But there’s a problem. There are only four infants. How exactly do you plan to divide them equally among five?"

Max laughed nervously, but quickly composed himself. "Ah, no issue, Senior. We’ve discussed it. One of us will step down from the claim and receive compensation later. We’re not foolish enough to quarrel over your generosity."

The other four nodded in unison, trying to appear as loyal and respectful as possible.

"Fine," Igaris said, motioning to the Golem. "Hand them over. One each."

Evernight leaned toward Igaris, whispering, "My Liege, they’re planning something. I can feel it. Shall I place a curse seal just in case?"

Igaris gave a subtle shake of his head. "Not yet. Let them lead us to the Spirit Mine. Once we have that, we’ll decide what to do with them?"

After receiving the infant Wyverns, they happily led Igaris toward the destination.

It took an hour and a half to arrive there on foot.

By then, the sun had risen in the east, signifying the start of a new day. Today was the day the Novices were scheduled to return to the Freedom Force’s hideout.

Igaris could now sense the invisible barrier that concealed the area from the Outcasts’ prying eyes in the sky. It seemed the Perfect Society had not yet caught wind of the impending invasion.

At least, that was his conjecture.

"That is the place, Senior," Max said, pointing to a specific location in the canyon below.

Igaris didn’t take their word for it immediately. Instead, he looked to Evernight for her judgment.
