Chapter 46 - 46: The Real Gift

That night, Caelen lay on his bed inside his house. The roof creaked softly in the breeze. His body was tired, but his mind was calm.

Then, a voice echoed in his head.

"How are you, Caelen?"

He sat up a little. "I'm good," he said quietly. He already knew who it was.

"You've lived one month in this world. You've done well. As a reward, I'll give you the real version of the Creation skill—not the test one. And a new power too: Transmute. It lets you shape and change things. Good luck, Caelen."

Before he could say anything, the voice faded. A soft warmth passed through his body.

Then he fell asleep.

The next morning, Caelen stepped outside. The sky was clear, and the sun was warm. He walked over to a pile of rocks near the blacksmith hut.

"Let's try this," he said.

He placed his hand on a rock. It suddenly felt soft, like clay. His fingers moved on their own. He shaped it into a clean square.

"Whoa..."

Dorgrim nearly dropped his mug. "That stone just turned into a block!"

Borin walked over, eyes wide. "He's shaping stone with his hands..."

Zira stepped closer with the kids. Garin and the elves joined them too.

Caelen kept going. He made a stair out of another rock. Then a round table. It was like drawing, but with stone.

Elira stared. "You're doing this with magic?"

"Yeah," Caelen said. "I just learned how."

With the new power, he had an idea.

He walked over to a small clearing. "We're building a house for the elves."

Everyone jumped in to help. Borin and Dorgrim checked the ground. Zira and Garin brought wood. The golems carried heavy logs. The kids carried small stones. Fen and Laen helped, too.

Caelen used Transmute to shape the stone base. He carved walls and steps like they were made of mud. With everyone working, the house was done in two hours.

It wasn't fancy, but it was warm, solid, and safe.

Elira stood in front of it, amazed.

"You made this... for us?"

"Yes," Caelen said.

She looked down. "We attacked you. We scared your friends. Why help us?"

Caelen looked away. "Because I want to."

Elira was quiet for a moment. Then she said, "Thank you."

That evening, the fire burned in the center of the village. Everyone sat nearby, eating and talking.

Zira handed the kids wooden sticks. "Let's train. Just like before."

Miko held his stick tight. "Okay!"

Rena smiled. "I want to be strong too."

Zira showed them how to swing and move their feet. The kids laughed and copied her moves.

Caelen sat with Garin, sharpening tools.

"You always help people," Garin said. "Even if they don't deserve it. Why?" freēwēbnovel.com

Caelen didn't look up. "Because someone has to."

Garin chuckled. "That's just like you."

Dorgrim leaned back on a log. "You're not normal, Caelen. But I think that's a good thing."

Borin raised his mug. "To the weird human who builds houses and makes stone dance."

Everyone laughed.

Elira sat beside her brothers, watching the others. For the first time in days, her face looked calm.

"This place," she whispered, "feels real. Like we can rest."

"You can," Caelen said. "As long as you help out."

"We will," Fen said. "We promise."

Caelen smiled. The fire crackled. The stars above were bright.

That night, as the village slowly fell quiet, Caelen looked around.

The golems stood still by the trees.

The kids were sleeping inside the house.

Zira sat nearby, holding a cup of warm tea.

Elves and dwarves. Humans and goblins. All together in one place.

Caelen didn't say anything.

But in his heart, he knew—

This was just the beginning.
