Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 189: The Power Of Blood
Four humanoid figures walked through the wild plains of the pocket dimension, all of them were completely naked, all of them were of masculine features and all of them were exuding powerful auras.
The four were none other than Zed, Zod, Aeon, and Aeon's son.
In this pocket dimension where almost everyone was moving around in their true beastly forms, these four who walked in their humanoid were odd, but it was simply a testament to their confidence in their powers.
Zed and Zod both walked casually, their well-toned muscles and fine abs barely visible under the night sky.
It was amazing how similar they were to each other, both looking like the carbon copy of the other.
Apart from a few oddities that were now more visible, they would indeed be considered identical to each other.
In terms of facial appearance, they were completely similar with more than ninety-five percent similarity.
But apart from that, the first difference one would be able to notice would be their ankles and wrists.
Zed, the playful one among the two, had nothing on his ankles and wrists, making him look quite normal. There were just the occasional golden electric sparks that lit up his limbs once in a while.
Zod, the serious-looking one of the two, was quite different in this aspect.
For starters, his ankles were winged, literally. Zod had a pair of small yellow wings attached to each of his ankles.
From how he looked, the wings appeared to be a part of him. They were neat and smallish, adapting to the unlikely position of growing by his ankles.
As they were not used, the wings were folded and pressed to the sides of his lower calves. Each step he took caused the wings to shake ever so slightly like they would unfold and allow him to burst out with unimaginable speed.
This was also the case for his wrists. On both sides of his two wrists, a pair of small yellow wings rested, folded neatly so as not to hinder his movements.
Even as Zod walked casually, the four pairs of small wings gave him the appearance of an entity that had drowned himself in studying affinity with speed.
Aeon had been right, the sea truly had no way of hindering the brothers from going where they wanted to go. Zed on his own was fast enough to run on water, and Zod could just glide over the water even though he could still run fast enough to travel over the surface.
Aeon walked beside them with an amused smile as he observed his surroundings. His razor-sharp teeth were exposed to the world for all to see.
It was a wonder what such a brutal-looking and large man, standing nearly three meters, could possibly be thinking to keep smiling like that.
His son, Aaron, on the other hand, had a completely different disposition.
The dark grey skin allowed the shark men to blend in with the dark, but Aaron's body was covered in crimson blood, making it quite easy for him to be spotted on this night.
The thick smell of blood, lion blood, in particular, reeked and contaminated the air around them. The three other companions didn't bother about it though, this wasn't their first time smelling so much blood up close.
"Have you guys noticed how blood smells so much like some metals?" Aaron suddenly asked telepathically, breaking the deafening silence among them.
It wasn't intentional though, he was asking because he was genuinely curious about why blood and metal shared a distinct smell.
Zed shrugged his shoulders, "I remember Stella talked about it one time with Harath when Harath asked the same question."
"What did she say?" Aaron asked.
"Umm, she said something about blood containing some metal. Yeah, she said that a certain type of metal was one of the components that made up our blood." Zed said.
"Oh, I thought as much," Aaron nodded as if he was coming to a sudden path of enlightenment. This was truly helpful information for him.
"Wait, does that mean I can control blood?" Aaron asked as he realized the implications of such information. His pitch-black eyes continued to widen as he continued the possibility of his imagination.
If his guess was correct, wouldn't it mean that metal users were the most powerful entities in the whole world?
He could envision how it would play out on the battlefield, metal-using creatures would simply band together to control the blood within the bodies of their foes. A broken concept, that's what it would be.
Aaron was mostly thinking about himself though, he liked the idea of being able to control another person's blood from within their body. So effortless, so effective, so…bloody.
"Of course not, that's not really possible," Zod chimed in at this time, it was only now that Aeon was starting to pay attention.
"Why is that? It seems logical to me for metal users to be able to control blood," Aaron said with a frown, he wanted to desperately grab onto this concept and didn't like the idea of it not being possible.
"As if you know anything about being logical," Zed mocked with a playful smile.
Aaron sneered, revealing his row of triangular metallic teeth. In the end, he just ignored Zed, his attention was on Zod and what he had to say.
Zod didn't slow down but he spoke, "Blood and metal are two different concepts even though they share some things.
Think of blood as the bridge element between water and metal. Blood has components of metal and water in it, but that doesn't mean you can control it as a metal user or water wielder."
Zod spoke with a level of seriousness that made it hard for anyone to assume he was joking or didn't know what he was talking about.
"How do you know this, we haven't tried yet so no one can be sure," Aaron defended, even though he was just hearing about his topic for the first time.
Zod nodded, not disagreeing with the young shark, "Perhaps you're right, perhaps you're wrong.
When those flock of flamingos came to our settlement, I had some conversations with one of their leaders and he told me a lot about the places they visited during their travels.
He also told me about the strange creatures that he met along the way.
One of these creatures was a kind that was born naturally winged, yet they were not birds.
He called them bats, that was also what they called themselves. They lived in large numbers inside caves and mostly came out to hunt after the sun was beginning to set.
He said they loved to sleep upside down and make screeching noises rather than have a meaningful conversation telepathically.
Now, what was most interesting about these so-called bats was their power structure. They didn't have fire bats, water bats, earth bats, or the other usual powers that we are used to hearing.
The bats only had three power types, at least, that was all the flamingo leader had seen.
The void bats, the magus bats, and the blood bats…"
At this point, all three of the listeners were completely absorbed in Zod's words. Even though Zed had been present when that flamingo leader had told them about this, he liked hearing his brother's opinion on this type of topic.
"Blood bats?" Aaron questioned, faintly understanding what this meant.
"Yes," Zod nodded his head, "These blood bats were creatures that specifically had power over blood, not water, not metal, just blood.
The flamingo had described it as something new and interesting to study. The blood bats could move blood around like it was water and make it into red constructs with the hardness of metal, very fascinating. They also tend to throw around a term called 'vampire'.
The flamingo didn't know what it meant.
I personally would love to travel and explore all these creatures that we haven't heard of, the world is truly large and diverse.
But I digress.
As I said, blood is a separate power from metal, as we have seen from the case of these bats. My conclusion is that the best any of us can do is to try and gain this power for ourselves separately.
But that's most likely impossible, I haven't heard of any creature being able to control more than one power besides the spiders, and last I checked, we aren't spiders." Zod chuckled at his attempt to make a joke, even then, his face weirdly remained masked in seriousness.
Aeon spoke up at this time, "It makes sense. I mean, I'm a water shark, the typical type.
Everyone knows that you usually need water to form ice. Forming ice with pure ice energy alone can be very tasking.
Yet, even with this knowledge, I can't control ice at all, it's like there are rules set in place to stop me from doing so."
Zod nodded, if things were as Aaron hoped it would be, then Air creatures would be able to control lightning and Earth creatures would be able to control vegetation.
Mysterious laws were in place that prevented this from happening.
Meanwhile, Aaron remained silent, feeling down after his rising hope had been crushed. But he hadn't experimented just yet so he wasn't completely sad, not until he tested the theory out himself.
The four didn't know they were discussing a topic that usually led to a civilization's rapid advancement.
At the same time, unbeknownst to everyone, Kael and Chloe were not too far ahead. If all continued like this, the golden lion would eventually cross paths with the cheetah brothers and the shark duo.
