Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 190: Found It
Kale and Chloe walked side by side with Kael leading from slightly ahead.
Their shoulders rhythmed up and down as their limbs moved at the same pace. One large paw forward one after the other.
"These octopuses, do they know what they are even looking for?" Chloe asked as a scowl appeared on her face. Not too far from them was a group of multicolored octopuses, scouring the land with ferocious intensity.
"I doubt," Kael said as he flexed his large neck, causing his whole mane to tumble around his head majestically.
The octopuses ahead of them were in a mesmerized group with the members numbering up to eight.
Two of the octopuses were larger than the rest, it was clear that they were of a higher tier than the rest. The remaining six octopuses looked to be around the same level as tier 2 wolves, too weak for Kael to bother.
Octopuses didn't have very good eyesight in the first place and they seemed to be entirely focused on something else so they didn't notice Kael and Chloe following them from behind.
Unfortunately, the octopuses were slow on land. Although they moved, using their tentacles to crawl over the land, they were still slower than regular land dwellers.
If they wanted to be fast, they would have to spend extra energy, something which they were conserving very carefully.
Kael coated both his and Chloe's body in a shroud of spatial shrouds, effectively making them invisible to the naked eye.
Kael took two calculated teleportations with two steps, instantly bringing both of them very close to eight octopuses.
Chloe blinked in Surprise, Kael had just teleported her without her permission, she didn't even have the right energy or power level to resist. If Kael could do this, he could also shred her to pieces instantly if she wasn't careful around him.
As they steadily approached the octopus group, Kael started to sense the fluctuations of telepathic waves among them and knew that they were having a conversation with themselves.
Kael expanded his own telepathic wave like it was a net, stretching it for hundreds of meters around him.
"...the mysterious structure was found accidentally, we need to hurry, the leaders have called all of us to come quickly," One of the octopuses said while crawling on the ground with his bright pink tentacles.
"Those freaking squids, we found it first, yet they are fighting like it was theirs from the very beginning," Another one said.
"Squids don't play fair, that's why we too won't play fair," One of the bigger octopuses said as his large head -which also acted as his body- bounced around as he moved.
"That thing must be very big for the leaders to be calling all of us…"
Chloe looked at Kael to see that he was paying close attention to what they were saying. She couldn't hear what they were saying as she wasn't a powerful spirit lion who could hack into the private telepathic channel.
So she looked to Kael, hoping that he would share some of his findings with him. She also noticed how over time, she had gotten more comfortable around Kael.
At least, she was no longer thinking of running away or looking for a way out of the contract. Perhaps, it was because her mind was too preoccupied with other thoughts but she had noticed it nonetheless and it made her more wary.
Was it powerlessness that made her so complacent with her current condition or was it something else that was happening to her?
"They seem to have found something," Kael spoke up, feeling her eyes on him and guessing what she was waiting for.
"Really, is it the heavenly beacon?" She asked, somewhat excited. The faster they found the heavenly beacon, the faster she could plan what to do with the rest of her life as it was now.
"Well, we're about to find out," Kael said as he suddenly rushed forward with a ferocious expression on his face.
Before Chloe could react, Kael had already launched himself at the closest octopus, covering tens of meters in a single leap.
The octopuses were still having their discussion when an invisible entity clawed his way through two octopuses at once.
The two octopuses were divided into multiple segments as the claws separated them with the surgical sharpness of the void.
The others were just about to react when two vines burst out of the ground and wrapped around two other octopuses.
*SPLISH*
The vines tightened and squeezed without mercy, squashing the two octopuses into octopus meat dregs. Their heads/bodies splashed open from the squeezing force, a truly horrible way to die.
Within a few breaths, four were dead, only four were remaining and they still didn't know what had just attacked them.
Purple electric sparks appeared from nowhere and before they knew it, another strike had landed. This time, it was one of the bigger octopuses that received the attack.
The top half of his head/body was swiftly cut off. His big yellow eyes were wide and his bright red tentacles swerved around as though they had a mind of their own.
It was only at this time that Kael decided to show himself.
The remaining three octopuses alive stared in fright at the massive golden lion standing in front of them.
Majestic.
He was truly majestic. The atmosphere seemed to become more oppressive and the air became heavier all of a sudden to them.
Those golden eyes, they were beautiful to look at. But they were also frightening.
Kael was majestic, but he was also very scary. His presence alone made them feel like they were standing dangerously close to a death god.
"RUN!" The last biggest octopus shouted with his telepathic voice as he waved his dark brown tentacles and struck all eight of them against hard ground.
The two octopuses beside the big octopus reacted quickly, instantly activating their powers and pushing against the earth to run away. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Kael didn't react to the two octopuses running away, he wasn't bothered by such.
Rather he was very intrigued by this octopus's behavior. It was hard to see a creature like this in the wild who was willing to fight a powerful enemy so that his colleagues could escape.
'Friends? Is that what they were to each other?' Kael asked himself with amusement.
Jagged rocks shot out of the ground and assembled themselves to form eight earthen tendrils, each very similar to the big octopus's eight tentacles.
"Interesting," Kael said as one of the tentacles struck at him, only for it to shatter against a shimmering blue magic barrier.
'This octopus just sacrificed itself just so that his friends could escape, this is a rare character,' Kael thought. It was very hard to find such a person in the wild where the standard rule was survival of the fittest.
Perhaps, good could always exist anywhere if it was given the chance. It was a nice thing to know that people like this still existed.
Kael smiled, and then he slashed out, sending three spatial claw slashes that traveled blindingly fast. The earthen tendrils were shattered and the big king octopus was instantly split into three parts.
He was dead before he even knew it.
Kael didn't have pity, not a single bit, just because this octopus had shown a rare act of kindness.
The two smaller octopuses that had run away didn't even turn back to check how their companion who stayed back so that they could run was doing. They were too scared to even think of turning back, all they wanted was to create as much distance.
However, they didn't get far before a large black lioness pounced on one of them from above. Her claws sank into the octopus who instinctively started pouring ink all over the ground to protect itself.
"Stop," Kael commanded with his vast spiritual energy slamming into the mind of the last octopus.
The octopus stopped on the spot, not moving a single inch further. Luckily, it wasn't able to see how Chloe ripped his companion to shreds.
Kael appeared beside Chloe and the last remaining octopus after he teleported. He didn't say anything but used his overwhelming spiritual power to invade the struggling mind of the octopus.
The result was immediate, recent memories flowed into Kael's mind like water that had been released from a dam.
All the information, from the sudden appearance of Kael to him rushing into the portal to enter this dimension, was all transferred into Kael's mind.
Yes, transferred.
Kael wasn't copying the memories or simply glancing at them, he was transferring everything from the mind of the octopus to his mind.
This was completely different from just reading their surface thoughts or controlling their minds. It was also why Kael always showed restraint when he was about to use it.
It was a method that left the victim in a state worse than death. All those who had been truthful to him had escaped a very sorry fate and they didn't know it.
And this technique was known to him thanks to Priya, the supposed passive among his lionesses.
Just when Kael was about to process the new memories he had gotten, the sound of something rushing over the ground from the distance entered his ears.
Extremely rapid footsteps, followed by golden lightning flashes.
"I thought I felt something, so it was you," Zed said as a devious smile stretched across his face
