Reincarnated in a Eroge Game With a SSS-Rank Taming System-Chapter 13: Step - Hoping for a Miracle
Chapter 13 - Step 13 - Hoping for a Miracle
The eyes of every noble inside the venue were slowly turning in my direction, as they all most likely had the same thoughts; I could clearly read it from the gaze each of them held.
If I just did nothing, there was little doubt that I would be able to stay inside the Banquet, especially when the main reason everyone here had gathered was asking for me to be kicked out at once.
I gulped.
I tried to think.
But nothing came to mind in that short lapse of time.
No matter what I would say, my words were useless, especially compared to those of the Princess. There was no doubt that she was far superior to me in basically everything remotely possible.
I only had one way out of this situation, and I was currently locking arms with her: it was Morgana. If there was one person who could keep me inside the Banquet as her escort, it was definitely her. However, the chances of her defending me were definitely low, given the damage it might do to her reputation.
"Why are you still here? Leave, you useless commoner!" Lysia added, pure spite in her voice.
The King and Queen didn't look surprised; they now stayed quiet, no longer trying to intervene.
I could also feel Morgana's muscles tense as those words continued to come out of her mouth.
She had been extremely nervous, and now that the Royal Princess had made a scene because of me, there was a chance that she might even pass the blame onto me.
"Please stop speaking so loudly, Princess," Morgana suddenly said in a low voice, trying her best to respect the Royal Family, even if it was getting harder by the minute. "You are disturbing the guests."
"It's not my fault that you're lonely and pathetic to the point where you have to bring your servant as your escort to my Banquet. You're pathetic," she said, almost spitting on her.
At that very moment, I felt Morgana's entire vibe flip in the blink of an eye.
She had tried to be respectful to the Princess. She really had, but those last words directed at me were too much for her to handle, and she completely lost her composure.
"Do you know in what estate you're currently in?" Morgana said in an icy, cold tone.
The tone she used seemed to surprise the Princess, as she stopped moving for a moment, freezing in place.
She was the Royal Princess. There was no doubt that she would always get what she wanted from her servant.
"You do not know what I have gone through, and if you speak another word about me or my servant, you will be the one facing the consequences."
Morgana didn't care that she was in front of the Royal Family.
"You dare insult my dead husband and son. How dare you! You're lucky that you aren't the one being banished from my estate at this very moment."
I could feel the tension coursing through her body as I subtly held her back from moving forward toward the Princess, letting only the words do the work. It seemed to have worked almost perfectly, as the Princess's jaw practically dropped, her body freezing, shocked that someone had talked to her in such a way.
Even the nobles standing nearby couldn't believe what they had just heard come out of Morgana's mouth.
Most of them began to whisper.
"Has she lost her mind?"
"Speaking to a member of the Royal Family. It's as if she's asking for death..."
But the King and Queen were in a similar position to their daughter, both in shock until they realized what was happening. They locked eyes with Morgana, and I hoped deep down that she wouldn't be penalized in any way, as it would make this whole situation even worse than it already was.
"I..." The King even tried to speak, but his words were simply stuck in his throat. "...sorry. We will make sure that such a thing never happens again."
I was honestly surprised that the King had backed off so easily. Usually, royal beings have huge egos like Lysia. However, the King and even Nickolas's personalities were unlike anything I had expected. They were level-headed and had even treated me almost as an equal, which was definitely strange.
They slowly began moving away from us. However, my original plan of getting closer to Lysia had miserably failed as she got further away from me. I received yet another notice from the system. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
[Princess Lysia has lost another Affection Heart for you.]
[Affection: ♡♡♡♡♡ (-2/5)]
Instead of getting closer to my goal, the opposite had actually happened.
It was better to laugh it off. However, it was clear that there would be a lot of work required to "tame" Lysia. After all, she was pretty much known as the final boss, the heroine who was the hardest to charm.
Nevertheless, the good news about this whole thing was that I hadn't been kicked out of the banquet and was still inside it.
For the following hours, no one really dared to approach us because of the scene we had just caused. It made me talk with Morgana a lot more, even slightly teasing her while in the middle of the banquet, causing her to blush.
"You know, you were really hot when facing them."
Morgana, as usual, didn't reply to my advances. But I had a strong feeling that would suddenly change once she reached her fourth Affection Heart.
I couldn't wait to see just how powerful the effects would be.
Another few hours passed where not a single noble dared to approach us, and the banquet was finally over as nobles began leaving, and so did the Royal Family after some time, apologizing once more to Morgana, which was behavior that even now I struggled to understand since it was the complete opposite of known clichés.
But as soon as they left, I was met with a message from the system that made me grin like never before.
