METROPOLIS -
The city of Metropolis was busy as usual. Cars honked in crowded intersections, families pushed strollers through sidewalks, food trucks lined up beside parks, and the air was filled with laughter, conversation, and the hum of a world unaware.
But then... shadows flickered.
And from an alleyway that had been empty only seconds before, the darkness twisted into a vortex and Arthur stepped through.
His boots clicked softly against the pavement. The shadows retreated back into his own form, and he stood tall among the living city, cloaked in black, his blue eyes scanning everything.
No one even noticed him.
To them, he was just another man in a coat. Maybe a little better dressed. Maybe a bit intense. But the veil of normalcy was thick in this city. more than it should be.
Arthur walked forward slowly, weaving through the sea of people. Something wasn't right. He could feel it in his bones a tension underneath the calm. The kind that whispers right before a storm.
His eyes narrowed as he tried to focus.
"There's magic here... faint. But deep."
His senses stretched through the concrete and steel, brushing against threads of energy subtle, buried far beneath the surface. Old and corrupted. He clenched his jaw.
'If that bastard hadn't destroyed my shadow soldier... it would've taken seconds to find it.'
A faint growl rumbled in his throat.
"Damn it..."
Just then, a soft buzz vibrated from his coat.
Arthur reached inside and tapped his comm device.
Robin's voice crackled through.
"Arthur, I've picked up something. There's a magical signal coming from Metropolis."
Arthur raised an eyebrow.
"That might just be me," he said dryly, glancing around. "I'm already here."
There was a short pause.
"No," Robin replied, his tone shifting, more serious. "This one's different. It's surrounded by multiple magical signatures, each one different, chaotic, and not passive. Something's beneath the surface."
Arthur stopped walking. His eyes widened slightly.
'Multiple?'
"I assume it might be the other Justice League members.., Flash did mention that he was heading somewhere here.." he muttered.
Robin continued.
"Constantine and Zatanna managed to help the corrupted Titans. They'll be joining us soon. I'm sending you the exact coordinates now."
A ping came through his device, flashing a red marker on his phone's screen.
"Try not to mess anything up, Arthur," Robin added, only half-joking. "We can handle this if we move carefully."
Arthur gave a low chuckle, shaking his head.
"Fear not. I've already 'saved' the Flash. I'm not looking to kill any Justice League members who aren't in their right minds."
"That's... good to hear," Robin replied, his tone more relaxed now. "See you there. Good luck."
The call ended.
Arthur looked down at the screen, the location now clear marked beneath the streets of Metropolis, in an older sector of the city. Forgotten tunnels. Perhaps even catacombs from the original foundations.
He tucked the device away and looked forward, his face now hardened with purpose.
"Seems about right. That's exactly where I sensed the faint magic."
"And it's definitely underground..."
The shadows around his feet twitched.
His next move wouldn't be subtle. But subtlety had never been his way.
"Time to dig," he said under his breath.

Arthur stepped into the older quarter of Metropolis an abandoned industrial district tucked away beneath the city's glittering skyline. The buildings were derelict, windows shattered, bricks cracked, vines and rust claiming what time had long forgotten. Even the air felt weird here, like the city itself was holding its breath.
Arthur came to a halt in the middle of a cracked lot, overgrown and silent. His eyes scanned the space, sharp and focused. Then he knelt, palm brushing the cold ground. There it was that same trace of magic. Stronger now. Almost pulsing.
He smirked.
"Yep. Down here."
Arthur rose to his feet, exhaling through his nose.
"I don't really have time to do it the nice way..."
The shadows beneath him rippled like disturbed water. They stretched twisting and swirling outward as if responding to a silent command. And from that abyssal darkness, Doom emerged.
The shadow of Doomsday towering, broad, a nightmare given form. Cragged bone spurs jutted from his limbs, and his massive shoulders cracked as he stood fully upright, glowing red eyes locked on his king.
Arthur looked up at him, expression cool, but with the faintest twitch of a grin at the corner of his lips.
"You know what to do."
Doom growled a low, rumbling snarl that sent shivers through the concrete itself.
Without another word, Doom slammed both fists into the ground.
The earth shattered.
Like a living drill, Doom began digging ripping through layers of rock and metal with terrifying strength and speed. Concrete exploded outward in chunks as the monster carved a path downward, his massive claws shredding through old pipes and forgotten ruins like paper.
Arthur casually stepped forward, leapt up, and landed on Doom's back with practiced ease. He balanced himself as the descent began to accelerate.
"Whoa, easy there," Arthur said, smiling. "We're going underground, not to the earth's core."
Doom let out another guttural snarl that felt more or less like a complaint, and he kept digging.
The wind tore past Arthur's cloak as the descent deepened. Dust and debris spiraled around them in a vortex of darkness and raw power. Every thundering blow from Doom carved them closer to their destination.
Arthur narrowed his eyes, focusing on the magical energy signature growing stronger by the second.
"Keep going, I'm calling back the other soldiers That I've sent.." he muttered under his breath. "Whatever I'm sensing right now... it's getting stronger and closer.."

THE ALTAR -
Dark stone pillars encircled the ancient dais, each etched with unholy markings, glowing faintly with crimson runes. the hidden underground chamber was long forgotten this place was untouched by light, steeped in shadows and dread.
Raven stood at the center, arms outstretched, the ends of her cloak flickering like smoke. Her hands pulsed with raw violet energy, the power of Azarath bending reality itself as she chanted the last verses of the incantation.
Around her, the possessed Justice League knelt in eerie silence guardians under Trigon's influence, their eyes glowing red, still, waiting.
"Make haste, daughter!"
Trigon's voice rumbled from the void, echoing in her mind like a thousand drums pounding at once.
"I can feel the chains breaking! The seal weakens! You are so close! Soon...soon, my body shall return to me!"
Raven clenched her fists mid-air, her jaw tight.
"You've waited for an eternity," she said coldly, her voice steady. "You can wait a few more seconds."
A guttural snarl echoed through her skull. Trigon didn't answer but she could feel his fury.
'Good,' she thought. 'Stay mad. I need you to think only about yourself like you always do, so you won't see anything coming3'
She inhaled slowly, steadying herself as the magic swirled violently. Her voice echoed louder, laced with power and purpose:
"Azarath... Metrion..."
Her violet aura erupted into a raging tempest.

Meanwhile... in the realm of Azarath -
Trigon's true form stood chained, massive and monstrous. Each limb bound by glowing, arcane chains of violet light. His six eyes burned with bloodlust, his skin steaming as he pulled against the bindings.
Suddenly one chain snapped.
Then another.
Crackling magical energy burst outward as his monstrous muscles flexed, ripping through the dimensional bindings. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"I AM... FINALLY..."
His voice roared like a hurricane across realms.
"FREE!!"
He laughed a deep, booming cackle that shook the void around him, and the final chains shattered into nothing.
Back at The Altar -
The seal exploded in a burst of raw magical force. The ancient structure cracked, and a massive crimson vortex tore open in the air behind Raven, spiraling outward like a storm birthed from hell itself.
A demonic wind screamed, ripping through the chamber. The possessed heroes stirred for the first time trembling in place. Their master was coming.
Raven stepped back from the altar, her boots grinding against the stone floor. Her hood blew back from the force, revealing her face, fierce and resolved.
Her eyes glowed, a blend of violet and red.
'Come on, Father,' she thought to herself, the voice inside her head filled with defiance. 'Let's finish this once and for all.'
The crimson portal twisted violently and from its depth, a towering red silhouette began to emerge. Horns. Clawed hands. Burning six eyes. Heat poured out of it, filled with hatred and rage.
The shadow of Trigon the Terrible began to rise, one hand already reaching forward through the veil.
