Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1029: Abyssan
Chapter 1029: Abyssan
Sein had barely crossed into Purgatory’s borders when he suddenly felt something lifted from his body.
The force that had propelled his rapid flight earlier had vanished.
Yet, even without it, he dared not slow down.
The pursuers behind him had not ceased their relentless chase—how could he afford to slow down?
Yet, what truly made his scalp crawl was not just the enemies at his back.
It was the roaring legions of demons marching toward him from the front.
These demons had spotted the Justice League’s legions storming into Purgatory, so they began their own charge, steadily gaining momentum.
They were going to strike the forces of the Order alignment with their full might!
As for Sein, the demons had already identified him as their enemy—perhaps even the leader of the opposing forces.
The Purgatory demons had no hesitation in tearing apart anyone who was not one of their own.
Even an Epic Being like Sein would not survive the full-force onslaught of a hundred thousand demons, let alone a million.
The demon legions before him were the elite handpicked by the demon kings themselves. At least one-third were Transcendent Beings. There were also quite a few demon lords among them.
The demon kings assumed that the Order-aligned forces were restarting the Holy War—and in response, they mobilized their full strength.
The demons already assembled were just the vanguard.
Behind them, at least ten million more elite demons stood ready to reinforce.
To completely eradicate the Purgatory demons, the Order Camp would need to deploy at least two hundred million troops.
The Avatar Crisis had only just begun, and the deities’ power remained greatly suppressed. This was not yet the true war; it was merely a warm-up.
The fiercest battles of the Holy War typically erupted toward the end of the Avatar Crisis.
By then, the deities would have fully regained their strength, allowing them to fight without restraint.
The thunderous roars of the demons made Sein’s scalp crawl.
He realized that at least ten demon lords had already locked onto him, and among them, there were at least two demigod-level demons.
Without hesitation, Sein activated his Flame Demon form. His body swelled and contorted, transforming into a towering entity with a demonic visage.
Then, in a voice that resonated across the battlefield, he spoke in the guttural language of demons, declaring, “I am your ally!”
The demon tongue, known as “Abyssan” was harsh and alien in nature, yet it sounded powerful.
The sudden shift in Sein’s form and his unexpected fluency in Abyssan stunned the demon lords who had locked their sights on him.
As for the lesser demons that were charging toward him, some stumbled and fell.
Most of them instinctively veered away before reaching Sein—splitting like a raging current against a boulder.
They surged past Sein, continuing their charge toward the Justice League’s forces behind him.
Sein’s life level made him a demon lord, and the lesser demons knew better than to offend a being of such caliber.
The mere presence of a lord’s aura was enough to imprint fear deep within their souls.
How a “human” had suddenly transformed into a demon lord was beyond the limited intelligence of these lesser creatures.
But to them, it was not impossible—some powerful demons possessed the ability to undergo multiple transformations, and it was entirely plausible for a demon lord to disguise himself and walk among the Prime Materia Plane of Faeloria.
While the low-level demons dared not challenge Sein, a handful of demon lords cautiously approached, their expressions filled with suspicion.
At last, one of the demigod-level demons finally spoke, and there was even a faint hint of deference in its tone.
“Are you a pureblood from the third level of Purgatory? I am Darno Chasma, Skeleton Lord of Purgatory’s second level.”
The seven-meter-tall demon, clad in gray bone armor, spoke humbly.
It had to remain respectful because the language that Sein had just used was the most prestigious ancient demon tongue!
In Purgatory, only the pureblooded demons were permitted to learn and speak it. It was more than just a language; it held power.
For some of the formidable demons, their most destructive attacks used this ancient demon tongue, often known as the “Demonic Whisper”.
The reason pureblooded demons were stronger than the new generation of demons, born under Faeloria’s influence, lay in one fundamental difference—the purebloods could unleash their power to the fullest potential.
While demon lords like Danno Chasma possessed demigod-level strength, they were still inferior to demigod-level pureblood.
If the ancient demon tongue had served as a key to communicating with these demons—then the pure Flame Demon aura radiating from Sein’s body was unmistakable proof of his identity!
Due to Faeloria’s unique laws, the Flame Demons had long since gone extinct in the third layer of Purgatory.
This was why, as Sein surveyed the millions of demons before him, he had not seen a single other demon with an aura similar to his own.
Instead, he saw distant relatives of the Flame Demons—Baator Demons, Fire Molten Demons, and various other pyro elemental demons.
There were also new hybrids he did not recognize—evidence that the demons of Faeloria had evolved differently from those he had studied in Sky City.
Indeed, the Magus World’s bloodline research had far surpassed that of many races and civilizations across the Astral Realm.
At the very least, this demon lord standing before him was completely unaware of the Magus World human bloodline in Sein.
To Danno, Sein appeared to be nothing less than a Flame Demon.
Sein could not help but thank himself for his diligence in learning Abyssan during his time in Sky City.
And not just the demon tongue—he had also dabbled in draconic, devilish, and elven languages.
His motivation for studying these languages was not due to any natural talent for linguistics.
Rather, it was because each of these languages possessed unique properties that enhanced the flow of elemental energy.
For instance, Diablen, the language of the devils, was the most potent language for forging pacts and contracts.
Meanwhile, draconic and elven speech amplified elemental energy flow more effectively than the Magus World’s common language.
However, these languages were notoriously difficult to master.
Even many full-fledged mages lacked the patience or dedication to learn them.
After all, why struggle with a foreign language as complex as an advanced spell model when they could communicate via mental focus?
Sein was not sure how Abyssan had become known as the “ancient demon tongue” in Faeloria’s Purgatory.
But that did not matter.
What mattered was that he could sense the respect in the demon lords’ demeanors. That alone was enough to tell him he was safe.
Before he could come up with an excuse, a prompt from the Spider Queen came through the Silver Spider Ring.
Sein cleared his throat, then spoke in a deep, commanding voice.
“I want to see your king. Now.”
The demon lords exchanged glances and fell silent for a moment.
Finally, the demigod-level Skeleton Lord, Danno Chasma, nodded before leading Sein to the deepest ranks of their army.
Before leaving, Sein cast one last look behind him.
The Order-aligned forces had already clashed with the Purgatory demons.
Even though Sein had fought in many interplanar wars, the sheer scale and intensity of this battle of over a million made his skin crawl.
The demons’ overwhelming battle prowess left a deep impression on him.
He watched as a demon lord, wielding a massive chainsword, cleaved through an Epic-level templar of the Justice Temple, splitting both horse and rider clean in half.
It seemed like all powerful demons favored brutal, heavy weapons.
That demon lord proceeded to grab half of the templar’s corpse and sank his teeth into the flesh—savoring his meal with primal satisfaction.
Sein’s thoughts, in that moment, aligned with Spider Queen’s will.
These demons were indeed the perfect soldiers.
If he could bring them under his control... What a magnificent army of cannon fodder they would make!
