SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 104: The snake lies waiting
Chapter 104: The snake lies waiting
Meanwhile, minutes before the server shut down, a group of players emerged from the dungeon portal. They were all wearing Azure Serpents guild tabards, but they were not part of the main roster.
"What happened?" One of the guys waiting outside asked.
"Full wipe."
The two quickly became quiet as the last man of the raid party emerged from the dungeon. Thorne’s face looked extremely unsightly. His health was barely there, and he was injured in multiple places.
"Tell the rest of the team to get back here fast. We are running this damn dungeon again. If we were wiped out, then there is no way those three managed to complete the run. We just have to try it a couple more times, and we should get it." He silently muttered. "Is Bertram here yet?"
"No, guild leader. He is not here yet."
"Tell him to get his ass over here fast. When those three get out, I want eyes on them immediately. No excuses," Thorne growled, spitting blood to the side. "That fucking Blood God is done today. Fuck the dungeon. As long as we take him down, it should be more than enough. How many men do we have here?"
"About 50. But I can call for more. The game shutdown is in 5 minutes. I don’t think they will be out of the dungeon before then."
Thorne shook his head. "Don’t underestimate Blood God. He is a conniving bastard. He will do everything to save his hide."
"But guild leader, what about the wager?"
"Heh." Thorne laughed. "What do you think is going on here? Why would any of us care about some petty wager? Did you see me publicize this wager? That bastard has a legendary item. Obviously, he is going to clear the dungeon a lot faster than we are. What is there to wager about in this?"
The guild member looked shocked.
"The real challenge is for him to escape from here. I don’t know why that bastard came out in the open even after seeing us, but there is no way he walking out of here alive. He dared to underestimate us, and now he has to pay the price."
Seeing the vein on Thorne’s forehead seethe in anger, the guild member hurriedly nodded his head.
"Everyone is hunting for him right now, and we are the ones to find him. We should not miss this opportunity. Go. Go. Get started with the preparations. He could be here any second now. I want that fucker trapped today like the bloody rat he is."
"And tell Bertram to get his ass over here right this second!"
Thus, the next few minutes became extremely hectic as the entire guild started assembling around the dungeon portal. In the span of a few minutes, about a hundred players arrived at the spot, fully surrounding the area.
The Azure Serpent guild was in full attendance.
The entire guild was decked in items from top to bottom, most of them rare-grade level 20 items. These drops needed to be farmed in dungeons or tough quests.
Even if they were purchased from an auction house, several thousand gold coins would have gone into building such a force. This wasn’t a casual hunting party. It was a military blockade. Thorne wasn’t taking chances anymore.
Spellcasters stood at the rear with charged AoEs, flanked by archers whose arrows shimmered with elemental tips. Warriors and tanks closed the circle, forming solid barricades with raised shields and ready skills, their health bars already buffed to max.
If the Blood God logged out inside the dungeon, fine. But if he so much as set foot out here...
He was going to be torn to shreds.
And sooner or later, he had to come out of the dungeon. Thorne stood in the center, arms folded, his cold gaze locked onto the still-glowing portal. Every few seconds, a low growl escaped his throat. "Blood God..." he muttered again, grinding his teeth.
Time ticked by slowly, and the last few minutes might as well have been hours. Everyone waited with bated breath. In the end, the game shut down prompt flashed in front of him, and there was still no sign of Blood God or the two others with him.
"He logged out from inside the dungeon?" Thorne’s voice dripped with disbelief, then fury. His clenched fist trembled at his side as the shutdown screen overtook his interface. "Fine. It’s tomorrow, then. Let me see how long you are staying inside that damned dungeon!"
However, right as the logout commenced, a new mail arrived in his inbox.
Thorne managed to get a glimpse of the mail. His eyes instantly widened in shock and disbelief, but as he appeared in the real world, his lips curled up into a maniacal smile.
"Blood God. You are dead. You are fucking dead."
Meanwhile...
Achooo! Damon sneezed loudly, startling Kate, who had just opened her eyes. He then followed it up with another few sneezes.
"What the hell, Damon? Is someone thinking about you or what?" Kate rubbed her temples as she groaned and moaned, trying to stand up.
"I think that’s what they say for hiccups." Damon randomly blurted, rushing forward to support her. "You are awake. You are actually awake! Damn it, you numbskull. You scared us both. Do you know?"
Kate blinked slowly, still groggy from the disorientation of logging out after such an intense run. Her muscles ached, her back hurt, and her brain felt like someone had sat on it for a long time.
But Damon did not care. He pulled the woman into a bear hug and held her firmly there. "I am sorry. I am so sorry."
In his last life, Damon thought that this idiot had abandoned him, but in the end, it was he who had abandoned her. He was so immersed in his self-pity that he had no idea that she had gone through something so horrible.
Just thinking about all that made his emotions all messy. He hugged her even tighter when Kate wheezed dramatically into his shoulder. "...are you trying to break my ribs, you crazy dude!"
Damon chuckled, but he didn’t loosen his grip.
