Chapter 61: Too fat!

[Ding! You have gained 10,000 experience points.]

[Ding! You have leveled up!]

The duo had big smiles as if cut from the same cloth. Uncle Al smiled because there was nothing he hated more than those horrendous monkeys, and Damon smiled because he knew what was coming next.

"Got any more of those?" Uncle Al asked, and Damon quickly took out another stack of monkey hide. All hail awesome repeatable quest!

Normally, this quest wasn’t worth it because the monkeys were a pain in the butt and the experience points reward wasn’t all that much. However, his new title ’Banana Reaper’ made a lot of difference.

"Got any more of those?" Uncle Al asked again. Thanks to the monkey hater, Damon was easily able to get 9 more levels after unloading all of his stacked hides. Unfortunately, Uncle Al did not discriminate between elite monkeys and normal monkeys, but Damon was fine with it.

He ended up gaining a total of 9 levels with Uncle Al repeating the quest. The last submission, however, only gave him 1000 experience points, and Damon did not bother continuing the quest any longer.

The zone event had given him 3 whole levels, even though the experience points were shared with two others. With this quest giving him 9 levels, his standing on the leaderboard instantly shot up, and he reached level 30, the first major checkpoint in the game.

A series of system-wide notifications immediately rang out. Naturally, a choice was given for Damon to remain anonymous, and he firmly rejected it as usual.

[Ding! World Announcement: Player "Blood God" has become the first player to reach level 30.]

[Ding! Blood God has received the special title: First Awakener.]

[Ding! Blood God has received a Class Advancement Token – Tier II.]

[Ding! Blood Good has received 100 gold coins as a reward.]

[Ding! Blood Good has earned 1000 fame as a reward.]

A flurry of notifications exploded across the game world. Every player, regardless of location or faction, saw the golden message flash across their interface.

The world trembled. Players stopped what they were doing and stared at the notification with one unified expression: disbelief.

"Blood God again?!"

"How is he always first?"

"Wait... doesn’t that mean he just gained, like, twelve levels in a day?!"

"Forget that—he got the First Awakener title! That’s gotta unlock something broken."

The forums exploded into chaos. Speculation. Conspiracy theories. Fan art. Assassination bounties. Every corner of Earth Online was suddenly flooded with one question: Who the hell is Blood God, and how the hell do we stop him?

The zone event from the previous day once again became a highlight and the glorious rewards of three rare chests and one legendary skill roll were talked about a lot with envy. Getting a legendary skill was not a simple matter.

Legendary skills were similar to legendary weapons in that they could redefine a build completely. A whole class could be build based off a single legendary skill and the person would instantly become a top player.

But unlike gear, which could be lost, broken, or stolen, legendary skills were bound to the soul. They couldn’t be traded, copied, or replicated. The players could only curse Blood God for obtaining such a good item.

The game clearly gave a lot of chances for many people to become overpowered. But what happens when a single players amasses many such chances?

The answer was simple: you got someone like Blood God. A walking glitch. A myth in the making. Not a player climbing the ranks, but a storm taking over the game.

The forums were ablaze with memes and outrage. Blood God became the final boss of the game everyone wanted to take down.

The truth was grimmer for many top guilds and solo elites. Earth Online was still new, still mysterious—but it was already clear that power snowballed. Hidden interactions between titles, bloodlines, quests, and unique class advancements meant that players who stacked early advantages could reach a point where catching up was no longer an option.

And Blood God?

Blood God wasn’t just stacking advantages. He was collecting exceptions.

The legendary skill scroll he obtained during the Stone-Skinned Monkey event—bound directly to his bloodline—was one such exception. And now, with the First Awakener title and a Tier II Class Advancement Token in hand, he stood at a crossroads few players would ever even glimpse.

The guy was becoming untouchable. Unassailable. Not a king on the leaderboard—but a legend etched into the game’s very foundation.

Outside Garth city, the Arcane Dawn’s players were still camping the trees, waiting for Blood God to show up. Their faces turned ashen when they saw the system messages. Their ambush, their plans, their pride—all of it shattered in a single golden flash.

"Level 30?!" Arvan’s voice cracked, disbelief morphing into panic. "How did he log in? We were right here! How did he get so many levels in such a short time? Wasn’t he only 22 a few minutes back?"

Lirael’s fingers tightened around her staff. Her jaw clenched. "He was under our noses the entire time?"

On the other side of Garth city, Blood Wraith let out an excited shout and Phoenix stood frozen in her tracks, her eyes wide. She had clearly seen that Blood God was the same level as her just a couple of minuted ago when they had met in person but now—now he had sprinted ahead, completely leaving her in the dust.

"Level 30..." Phoenix muttered. She gritted her teeth as a fiery aura erupted around her. Soon, she will overtake that asshole! She clenched her fists in determination.

Meanwhile, in Niera city. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"What? Blood God is not here anymore?" Aurora bit her lips in frustration. Her team had been hunting that ruffian non-stop for the special hidden quest, combing through the forests outside the Niera city but now it looked like all their effort was for naught.

With these many gold coins, he could practically be anywhere in this world!

She stabbed her staff into a python, the creature twisting and turning from the burst of divine energy before it turned into ashes. Was her hidden quest for a S-ranked legendary class going to be just a dream?

The quest was right there in her hands and yet it was slipping away like smoke.

Aurora stared at the fading ashes of the python, her heart hammering in her chest. Blood God... The name now felt like a chain around her progress. A curse. She will soon break this curse and come out victorious.

Another group in Niera city was equally unhappy. An underling of Daddy Brutal saw the system-wide announcement and cackled like a villain. "Boss, your strategy is working. Our little lamb Blood God is become fatter and fatter." He rubbed his hand in enthusiasm. "When will we slaughter the lamb, big boss? When will we? He He He. I am very excited."

Daddy Brutal turned to look at his subordinate, his face twitching in anger. "Fucking idiot. Shut the hell up!" The underling did not understand why their big boss was so upset. "Boss, what happened? Wasn’t the plan to let the lamb fatten up first?"

Daddy Brutal completely lost it. "He is becoming too fat, okay? Do you understand now? Does your tiny pea-sized brain, get it now? He is becoming too fucking fat!"
