Standing Next To You-Chapter 395: Wish
Chapter 395: Wish
"Since we took a one-week break, we should spend it studying. You still have a lot to catch up on." Fei Chuan added.
Bei Sangyun’s smile faltered. "...I actually looked into alternative ways to enter university without taking the entrance exam."
"That won’t do. You still need to take the entrance exam. Even if there are other options, it will be better for your reputation to gain admission to your desired university on your own merits."
Bei Sangyun: "...."
Damn. She had brought up this topic to suggest to Fei Chuan that he didn’t need to go out or attend school, as it would be safer for him to stay inside while the issues with the Fei family remained unresolved.
After all, the Fei family was desperately searching for him because of the secrets he had exposed that day.
However, it had backfired on her.
"...A-all right." Bei Sangyun slumped her shoulders. She could start a business from scratch, but going back to studying from the beginning was much harder.
Why hadn’t her high school memories been reborn with her?
Fei Chuan suddenly patted her head gently. "If you manage to get a passing score on the mock exam, I’ll grant you a wish."
Bei Sangyun stiffened and looked up at him, stunned.
This was the first time Fei Chuan had patted her head. It felt unusual; a younger person comforting her in this way should have been somewhat awkward. Yet, with Fei Chuan, it felt unexpectedly...nice.
Bei Sangyun tilted her head to make it easier for Fei Chuan to continue patting her.
Her action made Fei Chuan pause for a moment, which was followed by a helpless sigh. The smile in his eyes grew warmer.
"Anything I want?" Bei Sangyun asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Yes, anything you want."
"What if I asked you to marry me?"
Fei Chuan pretended to think. "Hmm... that might be a bit difficult."
Bei Sangyun paused and sighed inwardly. Of course, Fei Chuan was barely twenty; marriage wasn’t on his mind yet.
"How about... I ask you to continue being a couple?" She looked at him with hopeful eyes. freёwebnoѵel.com
Fei Chuan met her gaze, not answering immediately, simply staring at her.
His sudden silence made Bei Sangyun’s heart jump. Was she being too forward again? Was this too much to ask right now?
Maybe this wasn’t the right time to ask about becoming an official couple—
Her thoughts abruptly ceased when Fei Chuan lowered his head and kissed her.
In that instant, the world seemed to stop. Everything behind them blurred.
Bei Sangyun’s eyes widened. The kiss lasted only two seconds—a brief, gentle touch of lips—but it felt as though two hours had passed.
Fei Chuan pulled away, and upon seeing the shocked look on her face, he smiled, revealing his rarely seen dimples. He closed the distance again and kissed her a second time.
Bei Sangyun snapped out of her daze, but the kiss had already ended. Fei Chuan, still smiling, "I’m glad my fever is gone. I’ve been wanting to do that. Anyway, you should change your wish, since we’re already a couple. Didn’t I hint at that earlier?"
The heart that had momentarily stopped sprang back to life, beating rapidly. Bei Sangyun blinked, feeling as though her heart might escape from her chest. Her blood raced, and all she could focus on was his warm smile and the affectionate gaze in his beautiful eyes.
Suddenly, Bei Sangyun wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, much deeper this time.
What else could she wish for?
Grandma Bei was safe and healthy, her taste had returned, and she was no longer ill. Most importantly, Fei Chuan was by her side.
Everything she had wished for was fulfilled.

Epilogue:
Fei Chuan woke up to find that the persistent headache and the uncomfortable hot-and-cold sensations had vanished. Although his throat was still parched, he felt much better compared to yesterday.
What time is it?
He groggily glanced at the window and saw that it was already dark. He had apparently fallen asleep while waiting for Bei Sangyun.
As he was about to sit up, he felt something holding his hand.
He looked down and saw Bei Sangyun sitting on the floor, her head resting on the edge of the bed, her hand tightly clasped around his.
Fei Chuan slowly sat up, careful not to wake her. He used his free hand to brush the hair away from the side of her face.
On her beautiful face, there were noticeable dark circles under her eyes.
Fei Chuan felt a pang of guilt, yet his heart was also warmed. He gently touched her eyes, realizing how hard she must have been working to protect and look after him.
There was a soft knock on the door, and Maid Yan entered, carrying a glass of water and some fruit.
Seeing him awake, her face brightened. "Young Master, you’re awake—"
"Shhh." Fei Chuan gestured for her to be quiet. "She’s sleeping," he whispered.
Maid Yan nodded. She tiptoed and put the tray on the bedside table.
"The Young Miss has been staying with you since she arrived. She must have been worried." She whispered to Fei Chuan.
Fei Chuan felt a pang of sorrow. He gently stroked Bei Sangyun’s hair, his eyes filled with warmth.
"...Can you bring me my laptop?"
He had been drifting in and out of consciousness all day. Since he was too ill to handle things himself, all the troubles had been left to Bei Sangyun.
But now that he felt better, he should start addressing the issue himself, as it was his problem to begin with.
Maneuvering the laptop with one hand was a bit difficult, but he managed to find the information he needed.
Seeing the rumors circulating in high society, all ridiculing and blaming Bei Sangyun, Fei Chuan could hardly contain his anger.
This must be the work of the Fei family and the other members of the Lin family.
With a furious gaze, he began mercilessly exposing the secrets of those involved, starting with the Fei family.
When he was done, he nodded in satisfaction and looked at Bei Sangyun’s sleeping face.
He knew that a time would come when he would have to face the Fei family. He expected it to be a lonely and exhausting battle, as he would be confronting the entire family alone.
But with Bei Sangyun by his side, what he thought would be difficult to overcome was resolved in an instant.
She got angry on his behalf, stood up for him, protected him, and scolded those who had wronged him until they were filled with shame.
He thought he would never be moved by anything, but Bei Sangyun touched his heart time and time again.
How could he not fall for someone like her?
Fei Chuan lay back on the bed, bringing his face close to hers. With their hands intertwined, he kissed her forehead.
"Thank you... for coming to me again, Bei Sangyun."
