Chapter 129: First Encounter

Jason and Juliet decided to meet on a later date with their lawyers to sign the official contract, and Jason left the restaurant after turning down another offer for a meal. Jason knew that Juliet was only trying to build their relationship, but he had to get back to Gina soon, so he really didn’t have time.

Jason had called Gina a few minutes ago, and she told him that she was waiting at a diner close to a realtor building, and Jason began to drive there. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Meanwhile, Gina was looking through social media while eating some fries from the diner. The owner of the diner was an old lady with a kind smile and a grandmotherly attitude, and she had given Gina some free fries when Gina told her that she was waiting there for her boyfriend. Apparently, the woman was a sucker for young love and she didn’t hesitate to give Gina free food after hearing some stories about Gina and Jason’s relationship.

Gina thanked the woman and relaxed at the seat by the window while eating, but she suddenly stopped when someone came to sit opposite her. Gina looked up from her phone at the man. He was a plain-looking person with black hair. He was wearing a full black suit and dark shades, and Gina felt slightly uncomfortable as she slowly put her phone away to give the man her full attention.

"Can I help you?"

The man was silent for a few seconds, and Gina debated on whether or not she should leave right then, but then the man reached into his suit and produced a single black card while speaking.

"My name and identity are unimportant, but recent activities by you and your boyfriend have placed you within the sights of the company I work for."

"And what company would that be?"

"That’s not important either. But for the sake of context, you may call us Gaia."

Gaia? Gina had never heard about such a company before, and she knew from the way the man was acting that they weren’t exactly a publicly known organization.

The man continued.

"It has come to our notice that you have come into contact with what we term an interworld traveler—a dangerous creature from another world. Please remain calm until the briefing is done. You really want to hear what I have to say."

Gina had already started to move when the man spoke up again, but when he told her to calm down and hear him out, she slowly sat back down. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, and she was already speed-dialing Jason from under the table so that he would get her quickly.

The other people sitting with them in the restaurant seemed completely oblivious to the man’s presence, and Gina was shocked when the old lady running the restaurant came over to the table and spoke.

"Are you still waiting on your boyfriend, dear? If the fries aren’t enough, then I can get you something else?"

The old woman smiled at Gina while completely ignoring the man, and Gina realized in shock that she was the only one who could see him. Was it some sort of Gift? Maybe something that reduced your presence and prevented others from noticing you?

Gina swallowed and shook her head at the woman with a smile.

"We—I mean, I’m fine. Thank you. He’ll be here soon, and then we’ll order together."

The old lady smiled before she turned and walked away like there was nothing wrong. Gina turned back to look at the man sitting opposite her with a heavy glare.

"You’re a superhuman."

"I can’t answer that."

"Then what the fuck do you want?"

The agent didn’t look bothered by Gina’s intensity. He had already read Gina’s files and knew what to expect, so he wasn’t surprised. Instead, he put the black card on the table and spoke in an official tone.

"It’s like I said, my organization discovered you came into contact with a dangerous interworld traveler. We know where she currently is, and we have the means to extract her, but we wish to give you a chance to avoid any major incidents. Relinquish her to Gaia, and we will be on our way."

Gina’s eyes narrowed as she looked outside to see if there were any other agents close by. She already speed-dialed Jason and knew that he could hear everything that was being said, so she was sure he would be here in no time.

She turned back to the agent and spoke calmly.

"If you already know where she is, why not just go in and take her? You said no one knows who you are, didn’t you? I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard for you to vanish immediately after taking her."

The agent narrowed his eyes behind his sunglasses and said nothing in response. Gina’s lips split into a mocking smile as she suddenly realized the reason.

"You’re afraid of him, aren’t you?"

"I can assure you of one thing. We fear nobody."

"Then why don’t you walk into his home and see what happens."

The agent said nothing, and Gina almost felt like laughing. She couldn’t believe she had been worried for a moment there!

"You’re scared of him. Of what he can do to you if you make him your enemy. That’s why you came to talk to me instead of going to threaten him. You want me to convince my boyfriend to give her to you. Haha~ You know, they always made secret agents look so tough in the movies, but in the real world, you’re just full of shit."

The agent’s hand squeezed into a fist even though his face remained perfectly calm. Gina was right about them not wanting to meet and antagonize Jason, but hearing her say that they were afraid of him irritated the agent! They didn’t fear anyone!

Vroom!

The sound of a bike pulling up to the diner echoed through the road, and all the patrons in the diner turned to watch Jason park his motorcycle in the lot. The agent turned to his right to see Jason glaring at him with blood-red eyes while getting off his bike! Jason calmly started to walk towards the door with an intense aura around him, and the agent realized it was time to go.

The agent slid the black card forward to Gina and looked into Gina’s glaring eyes calmly.

"I hope you’ll see reason in time. Until then, please tell the King that Gaia sends her regards."

Bzzt!

The space around the agent suddenly flickered with static as though he was releasing electricity from his body, and in the next moment, Gina watched in surprise as the agent vanished from right in front of her!

’What the hell? Was that another Gift? I thought his Gift prevented people from noticing him. Maybe there was someone else close by who used the second Gift?’

Gina tried to figure out what just happened. As far as she knew, every Superhuman could only use one Gift, so there was no way the agent would have both presence concealment and teleportation! But she wasn’t able to figure it out before Jason came around and put his hand on her shoulder while looking around.

"Gina, are you okay?"

Gina put her hand over Jason’s own and smiled up at him before nodding. Jason released a sigh of relief before he turned to glare at where the agent had just vanished from. Jason wasn’t able to see the agent with his normal eyes when he arrived, but when he turned on [Predator’s Gaze], the agent came into view as a red outline. That meant the agent had been using some sort of Gift to mask his presence from regular civilians.

’Who the fuck was that?’
