Supernatural Insight Eyes-Chapter 18 Suspect 00!
18: Suspect 0018!
18: Suspect 0018!
After a drive of more than ten minutes, the group arrived at their destination.
Inside a small room, with dim lighting, Ye Qiu was held for questioning alone.
Glancing at the enclosed space, Ye Qiu sat in a chair, legs crossed, feeling utterly bored.
Before long, the door opened, and Lin Qiao’er walked in.
“Name!” Lin Qiao’er took out a notepad, sat across from Ye Qiu, and asked without looking up.
“Guess?” Ye Qiu said with a smile.
Lin Qiao’er frowned and said, “Be serious.
Fill out this form yourself.”
Lin Qiao’er pushed the paper and pen on her hands towards Ye Qiu, signaling him to do it himself.
Ye Qiu’s gaze returned, he picked up the pen and gave it a little twirl before carelessly writing down two characters, Ye Qiu!
After waiting a while, Ye Qiu slid the form back to Lin Qiao’er.
Lin Qiao’er scanned the form and burst into a rage, “Ye Qiu, be serious.
What do you mean by writing only a name?”
Ye Qiu ignored Lin Qiao’er’s angry look and said indifferently, “I don’t even know why I was brought here.
You start by making me fill out a form; how would I know what you’ll do after I’ve completed it!”
“You…” Lin Qiao’er, taken aback by such a question from Ye Qiu, was so angry she was at a loss for words, stuttering, “Alright…
alright…”
“What do you want to know?”
“May I ask the young lady’s name?”
“Lin Qiao’er.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-two.”
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
“No.”
“Huh?
You…” Ye Qiu asked a series of questions, and Lin Qiao’er answered two before suddenly realizing something was off.
The guy in front of her wasn’t behaving properly; he was actually teasing her, fishing for her information!
Bang!
Lin Qiao’er, infuriated, slapped the table and said, “Get serious.
This isn’t a place for you to mess around.
Don’t try your tricks on me.
If you dare to act rashly again, I’ll have you locked up here for a few days.”
“No, it was just a joke, calm down, please!” Ye Qiu immediately put on a smile, hurriedly apologizing, knowing he shouldn’t push it too far.
“Fine then, back to the main point.
Why exactly did you bring me here?” At this point, Ye Qiu became more serious, no longer grinning, and dropped his flippant demeanor.
Lin Qiao’er cleared her throat, her mood somewhat settled, glanced at Ye Qiu, and said, “Two days ago, a dead body was found in the woods next to your school.
You’re aware of that, right?”
Ye Qiu shook his head.
Lin Qiao’er frowned, “Lying to me could lead to punishment depending on the situation.
Someone said they saw you enter the woods that day.”
“Oh…
oh, now I remember.” Ye Qiu slapped his thigh, pretending to recall something, and continued, “I did go there that day.
However, I went because I found a classmate unconscious in the woods and carried her out.
You’re not suspecting me of murder, are you?” Ye Qiu widened his eyes and dropped his jaw, a picture of innocence.
Lin Qiao’er stared intently at Ye Qiu’s facial expression, scrutinizing for a while before saying, “You committing murder?
Definitely unlikely.
A student like you couldn’t pull off something like that.
However, we can’t rule out the possibility that it was you.
As for your claim about entering the woods to carry out an unconscious classmate, I’ll verify that.
Alright, we’ll stop here for today, but I’ll be looking for you later on.”
Lin Qiao’er waved her hand, signaling Ye Qiu that he could leave.
When Ye Qiu came out of the interrogation room, Shen Mengchen was already impatient.
“Why did it take so long?
What were you doing in there?”
“Want to know?” Ye Qiu flashed his white teeth.
Shen Mengchen nodded.
“Inside, of course we were interrogating…
Of course, there was also…”
“Also what?” Shen Mengchen asked curiously.
At this point, Ye Qiu looked around to see if anyone was listening, then whispered to Shen Mengchen, “Also…
you guess!”
“You’re teasing me!” Shen Mengchen huffed.
“You must have a record; otherwise, why would they let you come back for the investigation?”
“So you really hope I get locked up, huh?” Ye Qiu glared at Shen Mengchen.
“Miss, if I get detained here and you get kidnapped again on your way back, which situation do you think is best for you?”
Shen Mengchen suddenly fell silent, unable to counter.
“Let’s go, don’t come here if it’s not necessary; it’s not a good place,” Ye Qiu didn’t want to stay any longer, promptly taking Shen Mengchen with him to leave.
During Lin Qiao’er’s interrogation, Ye Qiu had always played dumb, putting on a devil-may-care attitude, all to lull Lin Qiao’er, trying to prevent her from suspecting him.
On the way back, Ye Qiu was also pondering who might have mentioned that he went into the woods—could it be Chu Yao?
Would that girl reveal he had been in the woods?
If it wasn’t Chu Yao, who else could it be?
Remembering how Chu Yao looked hesitant to speak that afternoon, Ye Qiu wondered if she wanted to tell him that she had divulged his trip to the woods.
Ye Qiu was now somewhat uncertain.
After speculating for a while, he became too lazy to think about it anymore; after all, they had no evidence.
His methods had been clean and neat, without leaving a trace, except for the unconscious Chu Yao at the time, which was a loophole, but it wasn’t a big deal.
Even if someone else had seen him enter the woods and figured out he was a bodyguard, it wouldn’t matter.
As long as there was no evidence, no one could do anything to him.
Ye Qiu didn’t take the matter to heart, letting Lin Qiao’er investigate as much as she liked.
If she could trace it back to him, then Lin Qiao’er would indeed be impressive.
…
“Boss, all the recordings are here, should I hand them all over?” A disc was handed to Lin Qiao’er.
“Of course.”
“And, thoroughly investigate this Ye Qiu guy.
I feel he’s highly suspicious, at least until we find a second suspect; he is the most likely,” Lin Qiao’er’s gaze held a different expression.
Of course, there was another point that could serve as evidence to verify whether Ye Qiu was the murderer, and that was to put his fighting skills to the test.
If Ye Qiu’s skills were exceptional, then the suspicion would undoubtedly be greater.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t yet found a legitimate reason to suddenly test Ye Qiu’s hands.
“I wonder if this guy’s carefree performance is an act or his real side.
If it’s an act, that’s just terrifying!” Lin Qiao’er was slightly lost in thought, always feeling Ye Qiu was somewhat elusive.
Ye Qiu’s behavior was much like a typical student, but Lin Qiao’er had a feeling that this version might not be the real Ye Qiu.
However, she had no proof.
Still, Lin Qiao’er was not discouraged.
In her view, if he was a fox, he would eventually show his tail.
If the incident was truly Ye Qiu’s doing, she would eventually find evidence to prove it.
“I hope I don’t find out it was you, otherwise, I’ll definitely be the first to catch you!” Lin Qiao’er let out a breath, muttering to herself with a determined look in her eyes.
