19: 0019 Shocking Retreat!

Ye Qiu and Shen Mengchen left the police station and walked down the street toward their residence.

Along the way, Shen Mengchen kept indirectly probing into Ye Qiu’s past, but Ye Qiu deflected all such inquiries, which made Shen Mengchen even more curious about him.

As they approached the Goddess Villa, a trace of suspicion appeared in Ye Qiu’s expression.

Although he was walking behind Shen Mengchen, his keen senses told him that a pair of eyes was watching him from behind.

Furthermore, ever since Ye Qiu and Shen Mengchen had left the police station, the owner of these eyes had been hiding in the shadows, observing them.

What surprised Ye Qiu the most was that the observer in the shadows was extremely skilled at hiding; even though Ye Qiu was aware of their presence, he still couldn’t pinpoint their exact location.

An absolute master!

Only such a figure could accomplish this, and Ye Qiu realized the gravity of the situation.

“Miss, keep smiling, don’t turn around,” Ye Qiu’s voice suddenly reached Shen Mengchen’s ears.

She was taken aback, almost ready to flare up, but she promptly noticed that there was something unusual about Ye Qiu’s gaze.

“What’s wrong, did something happen, Ye Qiu?” Shen Mengchen obediently refrained from making any extraneous movements, yet she asked.

“It’s nothing, no one will harm you as long as I’m here,” Ye Qiu smiled, which greatly eased the tense atmosphere.

He patted Shen Mengchen’s shoulder to keep her from getting too anxious.

Ye Qiu stayed close by Shen Mengchen, and about twenty minutes later, they finally arrived at the Goddess Villa.

Ye Qiu breathed a sigh of relief and seriously said, “Don’t go wandering outside the house, I’m going out for a bit.”

Shen Mengchen felt there was something off about Ye Qiu, as if something was happening.

She asked, “Ye Qiu, tell me the truth, is there a bad person around?”

Seeing Shen Mengchen’s anxious appearance, Ye Qiu couldn’t help but smile, his face exuding strong confidence, “Don’t worry, even if there are bad people, I will handle them.

Just stay at home and don’t go anywhere until I return.”

As Shen Mengchen watched Ye Qiu walk out the door, she whispered, “Be careful, and come back quickly.”

Regrettably, Ye Qiu didn’t hear any of her concerned words.

After stepping out of the Goddess Villa, Ye Qiu knew that the master of the hidden eyes had not immediately retreated.

Such a skilled master would not easily give up.

To avoid putting Shen Mengchen in danger and to free himself from worry, Ye Qiu quickly escorted Shen Mengchen back to the Goddess Villa and made sure she was safe before he could confidently confront his opponent.

The straight driveway was bustling with vehicles, the willow trees on either side casting unusual shadows under the light.

From leaving school to entering the police station and then walking back to the villa, it was already late.

And such darkness was the perfect opportunity for an assassin to strike.

After scanning around, Ye Qiu’s gaze suddenly shot towards a willow tree, and immediately, a dark figure burst out from it.

“Trying to escape?”

Seeing the dark figure dash into the park by the side of the road, Ye Qiu immediately set off in pursuit.

This significant threat could not be ignored; he couldn’t let the person just leave.

The figure moved swiftly, resembling a bat, disappearing into the night after a streak.

When Ye Qiu arrived at a clump of bushes, he stopped because he knew the person was right there.

“Come out,” Ye Qiu’s voice echoed through the bushes.

This secluded area of the park was quite quiet, rarely visited by anyone.

“Who exactly are you, that you could detect me observing you?

Throughout the years, no more than three people have managed to do so.” A faint voice came from all around the forest.

Ye Qiu smiled from the corner of his mouth, “An assassin who can be detected by me, yet whose real body cannot be located, also would not exceed three.”

“So, are we like the needle to the wheat?

” The voice suddenly let out a laugh, carrying a hint of retort.

“For masters like us, attempting to assassinate each other is almost bound to fail, so why not show yourself and battle it out face-to-face!” Ye Qiu replied mildly.

The owner of the voice fell silent for a moment, because Ye Qiu’s words were quite reasonable.

Once an assassin could no longer hide their existence in front of their opponent, it meant that the assassination had already half failed.

What follows then relies solely on their respective skills.

“Face you in direct combat?

Heh, today I merely intended to observe you, I didn’t expect to encounter a master.

No wonder that person enlisted my services.”

“I know you are difficult to handle, and even possibly as strong as me, but I won’t give up.

The stronger you are, the more I want to kill you.”

“Next time we meet, I will certainly kill you with one strike.” The voice grew more and more distant and eventually faded away completely.

Ye Qiu understood that the other party had left, silently withdrawing, causing Ye Qiu to furrow his brows even deeper.

Although he had retired from the world of assassins for many years now, based on his instinct, this assassin who came to kill him was no ordinary character.

“Interesting, interesting.

I haven’t exercised my muscles in so many years, I feel like I’m about to rust.

It’s rare to have something that excites me this much.” Ye Qiu turned around and slowly walked out of the forest, his laughter echoing through the woods until his figure had disappeared.

A while later, a figure crawled out from behind a tree.

This man was the concealed assassin.

In fact, he had not truly left.

“Who exactly is he?

Why haven’t I ever heard of such a person in the assassin world!” pondered the hidden assassin.

He had sensed that Ye Qiu was extraordinary, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so cautious.

He could detect an assassin’s aura on Ye Qiu, though it was faint and subtle—not something he could have discerned without years of experience.

All in all, Ye Qiu gave him a very tough impression.

Taking down this hard nut wouldn’t be easy.

The assassin’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

Encountering an unknown master excited and thrilled him.

Nothing was more exhilarating than clashing with a strong opponent, a sensation of hovering on the edge of death that very few could make him experience again.

If anyone knew the Grim Reaper of the assassin realm held such regard, even fear, for a person, many would be astonished.

What kind of individual could make this lunatic so excited!

This was a man who had made a name for himself by assassinating other assassins, a lunatic in his own right; anyone he targeted was in for a rough time.

Yet here was this lunatic, taking the task of killing Ye Qiu as his most coveted goal.

Ye Qiu didn’t dwell on the assassin’s matters any longer, knowing that the other would eventually reappear.

Once he did, Ye Qiu certainly would not let him leave again.

In fact, not many things could intrigue Ye Qiu these days, but this sudden appearance of a lurking assassin had rekindled the long-dormant blood in his veins.

He was eagerly awaiting an opponent to help break his shackles and ascend to a new level.

Ye Qiu strolled by the road, dismissing thoughts of the assassin from his mind, his eyes occasionally glancing at the beautiful women passing by.

“So many sleepless beauties in such a long night!” Watching the beautiful girls coming and going on the street, a unique expression reappeared on Ye Qiu’s face, displaying his carefree demeanor.

With the moonlight and beautiful women to admire, Ye Qiu felt this life was much more thrilling than life in the great mountains.

For a moment, his mind wandered to the dull nights of the mountains.

Just as Ye Qiu was walking, he suddenly paused, then took a few steps back.

Staring at the face on the other side of the window, Ye Qiu exclaimed, “Shangguan Hong?

What is she doing here?”

It was then that Ye Qiu noticed, Shangguan Hong was not alone; across from her sat a man who appeared somewhat effeminate, with narrow eyes half-closed, idly swirling his wine glass, looking content.

In contrast, Shangguan Hong’s expression seemed somewhat impatient, Ye Qiu observed for a while, feeling that she was not very enthusiastic about the man, as if merely putting up with him.

Thinking this, Ye Qiu’s interest was piqued, knowing that it was rare to see the mature and elegant Shangguan Hong reveal such an aspect in the villa.

Without delay, Ye Qiu turned and entered the Western restaurant.
