Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 71 - It’s Time to Go to My House
71: Chapter 71 It’s Time to Go to My House
71 -71 It’s Time to Go to My House
Facing the similarly-sized Blue Dragon and Red Dragon, fighting two against one wasn’t a good idea, and the Brass Dragon’s choice wasn’t to stand firm against Colorful Dragons and Metal Dragons as mortal enemies, but rather to spend money to avoid disaster.
After intimidating the Brass Dragon a bit, Leon still chose to accept the Brass Dragon’s proposal.
The Blue Dragon’s thought was that this place was, after all, the Brass Dragon’s lair, where the Brass Dragon had been operating for decades, perhaps centuries, gaining the home-ground advantage, as if with a wave of his hand he could close the great hall’s doors.
If a fight were really necessary, that timid dragon, once desperate, might fight to the death, resulting in a pyrrhic victory with no real winner.
In short, after some haggling, the Brass Dragon opened his treasury, which had a rather pitiful collection, and allowed Leon and Tassera to select treasures.
“Is this your only treasure hoard?” the Blue Dragon knew his opponent, the Brass Dragon, very well.
“How many treasure hoards do you have?” the Brass Dragon was unyielding until he was cornered, “Hurry up and choose, and then get out quickly.”
Tassera wrinkled her nose, sniffed, and walked to the front of a collapsed room.
“What are you trying to do?” the Brass Dragon’s eyelid twitched, “Don’t dig, there’s nothing there.”
“If there’s nothing, what’s this?” Blue Dragon was exceptionally good at digging, and Tassera moved so rapidly that she promptly cleared the rubble in front of the collapsed room, revealing a room filled with treasures, “Didn’t you say that you don’t have any hidden treasure hoards?”
The Brass Dragon looked eastward and westward to avoid the gaze of the Blue Dragon and said, “This, who has put so many treasures in my house.”
“Since it’s not your property, we will take it all away,” the Blue Dragon threatened.
“Mine, it’s mine, alright?” the Brass Dragon yelled out, resigning himself to his fate, “Robbers, you robbers, just take it all.”

Leon, who was originally strolling in the great hall, noticed that there was a spacious vertical shaft that led straight to the sky, wide enough for a giant dragon to come and go.
This meant that even if the doors of the great hall were closed, the Brass Dragon still had a chance to escape.
However, aside from dragons like him who were not that interested in gold and silver treasures, any other dragon would hardly abandon their lair unless it was a matter of life and death.
Suddenly hearing Tassera’s words, Leon immediately ran towards the newly discovered treasure hoard by the Blue Dragon, seeing that the treasure room was filled with many yellow, orange, and brown gemstones.
A bust of a beautiful young girl made of brass caught Leon’s eye, and he reached out to grab it and took it out.
“No!” the Brass Dragon watched Leon take out the bust and immediately cried out, lamenting, “You can’t take away my lover… my Alya, my soul, it’s you who have spent countless days and nights with me, you can’t leave me.”
Leon glanced at the Brass Dragon, then turned his gaze back to the bust in his hands, perfunctorily placed it aside, and sneered, “I don’t want your… such a creep.”
“Don’t tell me she is also your lover,” Leon said as he retrieved another statue of a female warrior.
“Lover and comrade-in-arms,” said the Brass Dragon, “Lilith, every time I want to give up, she sits beside me, pats my shoulder, tells me not to give up, to bravely stand up because the future will get better and better after the storm, and one day I’ll grow to be an Ancient Dragon and follow in Lord Bahamut’s retinue.”
Leon saw a heap of busts or statues made of marble or brass, all of women, and couldn’t help but mock, “Don’t tell me all these are your lovers.”
“It’s normal for a man to have three wives and four concubines,” the Brass Dragon said with a sly grin, “You’re a man too, you should understand.”
“Ridiculous!” Leon understood, but Tassera did not, and the Blue Dragon opened her mouth as if she would unleash Lightning Breath on the Brass Dragon’s collection.
“If you dare kill my lovers, I will definitely fight you to the death,” the Brass Dragon threw himself in front of his treasure hoard, his stance so desperate that he momentarily deterred the Blue Dragon.
“Just kidding,” said Tassera, heaven knows if she was just threatening the Brass Dragon, or if she was actually intimidated by the desperate Brass Dragon, “Destroying those would do me no good at all.”
The Brass Dragon had several treasuries, each containing different items, but perhaps because it couldn’t bring itself to enslave workers as a good dragon, or perhaps because it didn’t go about plundering, with its wit, it certainly had no means of running any kind of operation…
Leon found that the Brass Dragon’s treasury wasn’t as rich as the Efreeti’s.
“Are you perhaps a bit too poor?” Leon noted after inspecting the Brass Dragon’s treasury.
There was indeed no shortage of coins, a heap of assorted busts and sculptures, with paintings and tapestries merely serving as decorations; however, the magic items he anticipated were almost nonexistent, countable on one’s fingers.
“Yes, I am indeed that poor.” The Brass Dragon hung its head, still having some brains, knowing well that it ought to plead poverty rather than flaunt wealth when evil guests arrive.
In the end, Leon did find something of interest—an empty brass oil lamp, set apart from other items and placed in a corner.
“What is this?” Leon pointed to the brass oil lamp and asked.
Tassera glanced at the oil lamp, “A Magic Oil Lamp, after being polished can summon a Djinni capable of granting three wishes, although other things might happen instead, such as being attacked… Sadly, it has lost its magic power now; the Djinni that used to reside within has left, leaving it empty.”
Leon nodded thoughtfully, “Can it be used to contain an Efreeti?”
“Are you still thinking about the Efreeti that ran away?” Tassera said, “It is possible, indeed.”
“Good, I’ll take it,” Leon said, pondering that a Magic Oil Lamp still containing magic power is not so easily obtained; even one that has lost its magic could be of great use in the future.
“This is an extremely precious magic prop; if you take it, you won’t be able to take anything else,” the Brass Dragon interjected.
“When it had magic power, you could claim it to be extremely rare, but it has lost its power now…
Do you think I’m easy to bully?
Have I been too amiable, giving you the wrong impression?” Leon roared at the Brass Dragon, “Fine, as long as you agree to one more of my requests, I’ll only take this empty lamp.”
“What request?” The Brass Dragon asked.
“I find that you have quite the skill in sculpting, I need your help to craft some items.” Leon still remembered Blue Dragon’s promise to help him make Stone Magic Statues.
He believed that if the Brass Dragon took charge of the sculpting and the Blue Dragon imbued it with magic power, they could definitely create an amazing Stone Magic Statue.
“Just that?” The sigh of relief from the Brass Dragon could be heard upon Leon’s request, “No problem.”
And so, Leon took the Brass Dragon’s Empty Magic Oil Lamp, and Blue Dragon took all the antiques that the Brass Dragon had acquired from who knows where, especially those bearing inscriptions that could be studied, leaving the money and gemstones almost untouched…
Anyway, the Brass Dragon dared not speak up, fearing that the two dragons would recall the idea.
At this moment, the two dragons stood outside of the Brass Dragon’s den.
“You actually only took that one empty oil lamp,” Tassera remarked, disregarding the fact that the Brass Dragon still had to do something for Leon, “A greedy Red Dragon being satisfied so easily, this world is truly wondrous.”
“Aren’t Blue Dragons and Brass Dragons mortal enemies?” Leon remarked, “Yet you let him go just like that, I thought you were going to kill him.”
“If I were to kill him, would you help me?” Tassera retorted.
“Our agreement is a defensive alliance; it’s only valid if you are attacked.
Conversely, if you attack someone else, I have the right to refuse.” Leon certainly wouldn’t sign a military alliance with an Evil Dragon, “I can only assure that I absolutely won’t let him kill you.”
The Brass Dragon was not an enemy, and even before this, everyone had traveled together for a while, fighting side by side against mummies for two days, forming a bit of friendship.
The Brass Dragon wanted to bring them back to its den for a chat, which wasn’t very upright; taking his treasures was punishment enough.
Killing a good dragon for no good reason, Leon truly couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“He can’t beat me,” Tassera declared confidently, pausing before adding, “Do you want to have a look at my den?”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll get greedy seeing your treasures?”
“You didn’t strip the Brass Dragon’s treasury bare, I trust you won’t lay a hand on my treasury either.” Blue Dragon ground her teeth, today’s events giving her a deeper impression of the Red Dragon, “Besides, as a Storage Dragon, my most important treasures are in my head.”
