Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon's Might-Chapter 72 - You Should Settle Down
72: Chapter 72 You Should Settle Down
72 -72 You Should Settle Down
Leon knew that aside from having a store in Oasis City, Tassera also had a lair, built somewhere in the vast desert just like all Blue Dragons.
In their usual interactions, Tassera often mentioned her lair, but the conversation would end there, as if the lair of a giant dragon and a girl’s age were secrets of equal measure.
Leon didn’t know why the Blue Dragon was no longer secretive today, but he had no reason to refuse, especially after having just seen the Brass Dragon’s lair; he was quite curious to see what the Blue Dragon’s lair looked like.
“Let’s go, follow me and fly.”
Once Tassera received Leon’s affirmative answer, she spread her wings, kicked off with her legs, and took to the sky.
Leon glanced back at the Brass Dragon’s lair to see it poking its head out curiously, baring its teeth mischievously, which frightened the Brass Dragon into a hasty retreat, whereupon it flapped its wings to catch up with the Blue Dragon.
Leon did not keep track of how long he flew after the Blue Dragon, but it was quite a while before they landed atop the ruins of an ancient city swallowed by sand dunes.
As soon as the Blue Dragon landed, several Tlincalli emerged from various corners.
Those Tlincalli were large monsters, their bodies covered in carapaces, with human-like torsos above their waists and giant scorpion halves below, and long tails ending with venomous stingers.
Leon only took a brief look and was certain the Tlincalli’s Challenge Level wasn’t low, not any weaker than the Salamanders he had subdued after driving away the Efreeti.
Among the subordinates he had previously gathered, probably only the Orc Leader and the Hobgoblins Warlord could compete…
now he wondered how those he hadn’t seen for so long were faring.
“Stand down.” The Blue Dragon lifted a paw, and after the Tlincalli had disappeared, she turned to Leon, “These Tlincalli are my kin, they guard my lair when I am away…
Subduing them took quite some effort.”
Tlincalli were nomads of the desert.
A Tlincalli tribe only settled temporarily when nearby hunting was successful, and it was time to lay eggs and hatch their young, becoming permanent settlers only when they pledged allegiance to a powerful being.
However, with their prideful nature, not just anyone could gain their loyalty; Tlincalli feared neither battle nor death.
“Subduing the Salamanders was quite simple for me.” Leon laughed, unable to sympathize with the Blue Dragon.
“That’s because Salamanders are accustomed to submission, the long history of being enslaved by the Efreeti has influenced their culture,” Tassera commented without restraint.
Leon made no reply.
“Is that an Air Element?” Leon noticed a funnel-shaped spiraling cloud with an indistinct face, which whirled and lifted vast amounts of sand as it moved.
“That’s my Air Element Servant.” Tassera smiled, “I can’t rely solely on those Tlincalli, I need more security measures.”
“Needing so many guards, there must be many treasures inside your lair,” Leon said, “Look at the Brass Dragon’s lair, it has nothing, then again no treasuries either.”
“He just doesn’t like recruiting underlings,” Tassera explained.
Leon nodded; he knew the Brass Dragon liked to find intelligent beings that could converse with him as companions, but only enjoyed their company rather than employing followers.
Suddenly, Leon thought of his mother; he recalled she also had no kin and then quickly made a connection with her terrible character…
he still had no idea why Edwin had been attacked and had to run away.
“Let’s continue.”
Tassera led Leon onward, walking into the ruins of a castle, where they encountered a large hole in the floor of the great hall leading underground.
Descending into the hole, they found the walls of the large cavity had been turned into glass crystals by the Blue Dragon’s Lightning Breath, which was quite beautiful.
At the end of their path lay the Blue Dragon’s lair.
The Blue Dragon’s lair was underground but not dark.
Leon didn’t know how sunlight was brought in…
he could only surmise that the reflective and refractive properties of the ubiquitous glass played a significant role.
“This is where I move in my Dragon Form; beyond this point is where I move in human form,” the Blue Dragon said, transforming back into human form amidst a flash of white light.
“All these intricacies… your lair must have been operated for a long time,” Leon commented as he drew out his Dimension Bag and shifted into a human using his Transformation Skill.
After pulling out clothes from the Dimension Bag and getting dressed, he turned to see Tassera staring at him with wide eyes.
“What are you looking at?” Leon asked.
“Just looking doesn’t cost me a piece of flesh,” Tassera shrugged.
“This line’s for you,” Leon said, “A look won’t cost you any flesh off your bones.”
“Then where do you want to look?” Tassera flirtatiously blinked and pulled up the slit of her skirt to reveal her firm and slender thighs.
“Legs or bust?”
“Have I encountered a female hooligan?” Leon asked.
Tassera smiled; she was actually just saying it for the sake of conversation.
Apart from the shameworthy True Dragon, the White Dragon who mates merely for pleasure like beasts, the wisdom of most dragons taught them modesty.
Not to mention the Metal Dragons, just consider the Colorful Dragons: once a Green Dragon decides to mate, its law-abiding nature emerges, forming strong bonds.
A union between two Blue Dragons is even comparable to humans, involving exchanges of food and possessions, the Sect Master’s consent, and a public announcement to other Blue Dragons.
The older or, say, stronger Blue Dragon of the pair may have multiple partners, but infidelity is rare…
Isn’t there a contradiction here?
“This is my experimental workbench, this is my study and treasure vault…”
Following Tassera up to a platform, the first thing Leon saw was a huge workbench against the wall, adorned with colorful Magic Materials and an array of unrecognizable equipment and tools.
Then there were rows upon rows of tall shelves, either stacked with books and scrolls or filled with treasures…
“This glass clock can produce the sound of thunder when struck.”
“This is a Celestial Sphere, our planet is here…
yes, that’s the Sun, a giant fireball, not a Divine being.”
“An ancient water clock, which can tell time precisely.”
“The insect sealed in this amber is now extinct, it can no longer be found.”
“The things I’m most proud of are these books—Magic, astronomy, geography, history, mathematics…
I’ve collected every book available on the market.”
Leon casually pulled out a book to flip through before closing it, and when he looked up, he saw Tassera’s gaze, intense, fixed on him.
“How do you like my lair?” From the Blue Dragon’s expression, she was extremely pleased with her lair.
“It’s beautiful,” Leon said not merely out of politeness, but sincerely.
Tassera blinked and asked: “Do you like it?”
“I do, but you can’t give it to me,” Leon replied while picking up another book.
“It’s impossible to give to you, but if you like to read, you can stay here.”

“Are you trying to hire me as your security guard?”
“Can’t you think of something nice?” Tassera gestured, and a bottle of wine on the small round table flew up by itself and poured into two tall glasses.
Leon took the wine glass from the Blue Dragon’s hand, firm in his resolve not to be softened by hospitality: “But you are an Evil Dragon, aren’t you?”
Tassera sipped her wine and smiled, “You haven’t officially built your nest yet…
I was actually going to give you some guidance, but since you think that way of me, let’s forget it.”
“Sister, I was wrong,” Leon pleaded.
“Heh.”
“Why do you suddenly want me to build a nest?” Leon asked curiously.
Tassera looked at Leon seriously.
“I can’t rest easy if you don’t settle down.”
Hearing the Blue Dragon’s words, Leon’s heartbeat quickened involuntarily, wondering what was going on with this atmosphere?
