Tangled Hearts - The Alpha's Baby Mama-Chapter 27: Will you marry me?
Chapter 27: Will you marry me?
Selene POV
"Thank you, Lucius," I said with a quiet as I collected the girls from him.
I could feel his ardent gaze on my body, but I avoided looking at him. I wasn’t in the mood to talk about how I felt.
"Are you alright?" he murmured under his breath, looking at the girls. "Is something wrong?"
"I’m fine, Lucius," I gave him another bright smile. "I’m just trying to pack. We’re leaving with Noah at first light tomorrow,".
"You’re leaving?" Lucius’s eyes widened with surprise. "Why? You only just got here and..." he trailed off when he saw the girls staring at him eagerly.
"They know, Lucius," I sighed. "They know Xavier is their father, but I’ve realized this is not where I want to be. What if he changes and goes back to who he used to be?".
"He’s a changed person now, Selene. I swear on everything I hold dear and he’s already getting attracted to you. It’s a good sign if you ask me,".
"That’s because he doesn’t know who I am." I gave him a wistful smile. "If he knows who I truly am, he’ll change in a split of seconds. I don’t want to take chances,".
"How about us, mom?" Maeve chirped in. "What about our feelings?"
I turned, giving her a stern gaze. "I’m the adult here, Maeve. Until you start feeding and taking care of yourself, you have to depend on me to make decisions for you,".
"What if you’re making a wrong decision?" she challenged, staring at me defiantly.
Anger burned in my heart as I stared at my daughter, wondering where I had gone wrong. Why would she take her father’s side suddenly after I’ve cared for and nurtured her for three years?
"That’s it, young lady, go kneel in a corner and stay there until I ask you to leave,". I said in a steely voice.
She looked at me with teary eyes and stomped into the room.
"Aren’t you being a little too..." Lucius started saying but stopped when he saw the sharp look directed at him.
"Thank you for bringing the girls back to me," I said coldly and slammed the door, hating how angry I was at that moment.
"Mommy," Vina came close to me, "Please forgive Maeve. She didn’t mean it,".
"She can’t keep getting away with speaking whatever way she wants to me. I am your mother and, more than anyone, I have your best interests in my heart. How dare she question my authority? Does she have the slightest idea of how much I had to go through?"
"But Mom..." Vina whined.
"That’s enough!" I yelled, hating the fear that flickered in her eyes.
I hated I was doing this, but I couldn’t stop myself. Vina scurried away to the bed where she lay. Trying not to think too much of my last conversation with Xavier, I dragged out our boxes from the wardrobes and started stuffing clothes into them.

A while later, after I finished packing and the girls fell asleep, I slipped out of the room to look for Noah.
I checked the guest bedroom, but it was empty. Wondering where he could be, I decided to check Xavier’s office. As I neared his office, instead of Noah’s scent and Xavier’s, I picked up Belinda’s scent. She was around.
Tiptoeing, I went closer to the door and leaned against it, straining my ears to pick up what they were saying.
"Isn’t time for you to make me your, Luna, Xavier?" Belinda cried bitterly. "How much more do I have to wait, Xavier? It’s been three years since Selene died,".
"Leave her out of this," Xavier growled "I didn’t promise you marriage, Belinda. I simply said that we could work things out, and I’ve told you several times to move on with someone more deserving of you, Belinda. You know the situation of things and how I cannot be with—"
"But you didn’t think of that when you were fucking me," she screamed, hurling something to the wall.
I jerked in surprise as it crashed loudly.
"You didn’t think of that when I had to endure many torturous processes just to be with your child." When I had to take care of you for three years and all it took was some bitch to drag you to her bed and you went willingly".
"Belinda, if you won’t talk to me civilly, you might as well leave. I’m not going to put up with your stupid tantrums," Xavier roared.
"Or else what?" Belinda fired back. "You’ll ask the guards to throw me out just like the other time. I’m going to give you until the next full moon, Xavier. If I don’t get a proposal, then you’d leave me with no choice,".
As she said that, I heard angry footsteps coming towards the door and I quickly jumped back, trying to move away when I bumped into someone. When I turned, it was Noah.
"Hey," I gave him a bright smile.
Immediately, the door opened, and a tear-stained Belinda rushed out. Puzzled, Noah turned to me and mouthed.
"What was that about?"
"No idea," I shrugged, and we burst into laughter.
Stealthily, we traced our way back and ended up in Noah’s bedroom. As soon as we were alone, he pulled me into his arms, exhaling in relish as he pressed me against himself.
"Noah?" I called out in alarm.
"Just let me hold you, Olivia. I’ve missed you so much," he murmured against my head.
"I’ve been here, dear," I chuckled, pressing closer to him.
"But you’ve been so taken with Xavier Steele... you’ve chosen him over me, Olivia," his voice was filled with sadness. "I know he’s your children’s father, but I too deserve a chance,".
"I’m sorry for being distant," I sighed "A lot has happened but as soon as we leave and return to Moon Whisper, everything will go back to normal,".
He pulled away from me, holding me at arm’s length as he gazed at me anxiously. "You’ve decided to come home with me?"
"Yes," I nodded, "Moon Whisper would always be home to me and I want to keep it that way. When the girls grow, if they’re interested in coming back here, they’re free to,".
"Oh, Olivia," he scooped me into his arms and twirled me around, "You don’t know how happy that makes me feel. Thank you," he said when he dropped me back down. "How about Maeve? She won’t like this?"
"She’ll come around, eventually." I gave him a reassuring smile. "I can’t believe I’m already dealing with rebellious toddlers,"
"Don’t worry, everything will be alright, I promise and for the record," Noah sighed, staring at me tenderly "Nothing happened. I just want us to go home and be happy like we used to,".
"Yeah," I nodded.
Then I watched as he leaned in for a kiss... Panic surged through me, but I just stood there, watching helplessly. Our lips were mere inches apart when the door suddenly flung open with a loud creak.
Startled, we pulled away. At the door was Xavier. His expression was blank as his gaze flickered to me before resting on Noah.
"They’re here," he announced and left immediately/.
As he left, I watched as Noah, frustrated and amused, shot an exasperated look at Xavier’s retreating while I stifled a laugh.
"That was close," I chuckled.
"Yeah," he sighed and reached for my hand "I know this is so sudden and all but..." he paused and slipped his hands into his jacket producing a diamond studded jewellery box. When he opened it, there was an engagement ring inside with the largest pink diamond I’ve ever seen.
"I’ve wanted to ask you to marry me for the longest time, and I was going to do it after you return home but I feel so sure about you that every moment without making you mine feels like someone will snatch you away from me in the next instant,".
"Noah!" My heart was pounding with both excitement and anxiety.
He went down on his knees ...
"Will you marry me?"
