The CEO's Substitute Wife Is A Genius-Chapter 368: Bao Qingtian is Not a Coroner
Chapter 368: Chapter 368: Bao Qingtian is Not a Coroner
He sounded very excited.
Jiang Man was speechless, "Do you think this is a game?"
"Man, I find it entertaining, but you don’t. Don’t you want to be the real-life Bao Qingtian?"
"Bao Qingtian wasn’t a coroner; he didn’t conduct autopsies."
"So what? Coroners are great; they make corpses speak, they vindicate the dead, without them, who would seek justice for the victims?"
Wu Yingfan made a compelling point that Jiang Man couldn’t distinguish whether he was just morbidly curious or genuinely compassionate.
"The third murder case has happened, Man. If you don’t act, more people will die!"
"I can’t believe you!" Jiang Man rose swiftly from the couch like a carp leaping out of water.
"You’re so good at recommending jobs to people, it’s a waste not to be a headhunter!"
"Hurry up, Man, I’m waiting for you downstairs."
His voice had barely ended when Jiang Man heard the continuous honking.
Looking out the floor-to-ceiling window, well, he had indeed driven up to her building and was waiting for her!
One hour later, Jiang Man and Wu Yingfan arrived at the city criminal police squad.
After stating their purpose and verifying their identities, an officer led them towards the autopsy room.
The squad leader, Chen, had been waiting for a while and was observing the scene inside through a one-way mirror.
It was Wu Yingfan’s first time witnessing such a sight.
It was already frightening on television.
Seeing it in reality now, an inexplicable fear arose in his heart.
"Are you Dr. Jiang?"
Chen couldn’t believe his eyes, looking at the person in front of him who resembled a female college student.
Jiang Man’s expression was indifferent as she extended her hand, "Commander Chen, don’t you remember me?"
Commander Chen was stunned for a moment.
When he first saw Jiang Man’s name, it felt very familiar to him.
But when he heard she was a doctor from the scientific research institute, he thought it couldn’t be the same person.
"Thank you, Commander Chen, for helping me find my family." Jiang Man’s tone was still undisturbed.
Commander Chen’s mouth hung open, finding it hard to accept for a moment.
But his actions were honest as he reached out both hands and shook hands with Jiang Man firmly.
"Dr. Jiang, Little Wu told me you have a lot of experience in this area, we’ll be relying on you shortly."
Jiang Man gave Wu Yingfan a sidelong glance.
This kid really could spin a yarn; what experience did she have?
The most experience she had was using her anatomy professor as practice.
In terms of actual operations, her experience was zero.
But she did not voice these thoughts out loud; when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Saying it would only spoil the morale.
"I’ll do my best," Jiang Man nodded slightly.
Commander Chen no longer dawdled and made an inviting gesture, "Let’s go in then, Little Wu, you wait outside."
"You guys go ahead." Wu Yingfan didn’t dare to look inside.
As Jiang Man and Commander Chen stepped into the autopsy room, he turned and bolted away.
Inside the autopsy room, two young coroners were re-examining a corpse.
When Jiang Man, the stranger, walked in, the two coroners immediately ceased what they were doing.
"Commander Chen, is this the exceptional coroner you were talking about?"
"Are you kidding? She looks like a medical student who hasn’t even graduated."
"Should we call the master back?"
"The master has honorably retired, how could we call him? Do you want him to be disappointed in us? If the first case we handle has us calling him back, what would that do to our reputation?"
"But this case is complicated..."
One male, one female; the man in his thirties, the woman probably not even thirty.
No wonder such young coroners lacked experience.
"Commander Chen, give us two more days. This is the squad’s case, letting an outsider of unclear background get involved isn’t proper," said Xu Liang, the male coroner, quickly glancing at Jiang Man with a guarded look in his eyes.
When Commander Chen heard his words, he got angry, "You want two more days? This case has been open for seven days, don’t you know how much public attention it’s getting? The higher-ups want us to solve it within a week, give the public an answer. Where do I get the extra two days for you!"
"Then go catch the killer. You haven’t caught the killer either, why are you so hung up on our end, focusing on the cause of death..." the female coroner muttered under her breath.
Jiang Man, as a bystander, could clearly see the dissatisfaction between the two parties.
"Senior, please tell me about the current autopsy findings," Jiang Man said, nodding respectfully to the male coroner and asking humbly.
The male coroner scoffed disdainfully and rolled his eyes at her.
"Xu Liang, this is something I’ve discussed with superiors; she is a researcher from the research institute! I expect you two to collaborate with her!"
"So we’re dealing with a scientist from the research institute?" Xu Liang sneered, "Fine."
"Different fields, different skills, if a researcher thinks they can perform an autopsy, then what can we say?"
The female coroner’s face turned sour when she heard him, "We’re already in over our heads, and now someone comes to bother us, delaying our progress..."
She complained quietly.
Jiang Man felt a headache brewing.
If only they would talk less nonsense, there would be significant progress on the case.
"I don’t guarantee I can definitively find the cause, but from what Commander Chen seems to imply, he has requested specialized coroner personnel from above. However, due to procedures and processes, that will take at least two days. Public opinion is immense and time won’t wait. I can handle things here while procedures and processes are underway on that end. Why not work together on the case, isn’t that better?"
Her words rendered the two coroners speechless.
Then the male coroner calmed down and detailed their autopsy results to Jiang Man.
"Three victims, Victim 1 and Victim 2 died of the same cause – potassium chloride poisoning. Victim 3, though also poisoned, was clearly a copycat killing."
After he finished, Commander Chen handed a stack of documents to Jiang Man.
"Currently, we can’t determine how Victim 1 and Victim 2 were poisoned."
Commander Chen added, "We checked the bar, and we didn’t find anything related to potassium chloride, including the drinks the victims had – no problems whatsoever."
"It’s even stranger for Victim 2, dying in an alley, with even less chance of coming into contact with anything related to potassium chloride, and there were no traces at the scene."
"And Victim 3 was lethally poisoned with paraquat!"
The three bodies, Victim 3’s flesh turned black, the poison clearly penetrated to the bone.
Victim 1 and Victim 2 were a bit strange, their lividity, body color mostly normal.
Only the lividity at the heart was a deeper color.
"Victim 1 and Victim 2’s hearts stopped abruptly, instant death, consistent with potassium chloride poisoning characteristics. Now we just wonder how the poisoner did it?"
Jiang Man glanced at the bar’s surveillance again, it was pitch black, nothing visible.
But from the video, the reactions of Wen Jingya, Jiang Man, and the others indicated the murderer acted very quickly.
In just a matter of seconds, they had poisoned someone to death!
Jiang Man put down the documents and put on medical gloves.
"Let me try."
