The Devil's Good Girl-Chapter 229: Thought so
Chapter 229: Thought so
"Unfortunately, I am that foolish co-worker. I can’t believe I fell for his lies and nearly cost me a friend. Just a couple of nights ago, he told me how much he loved Fil and earned my sympathy. I had to beg Fil to give him a chance — what a pathetic trash!"
Silence hung in the air right after Elise’s revelation. It took a full minute for everyone to process what they heard. Some laughed in surprise while others simply found how this unfolding entertaining. A few, however, couldn’t believe their ears and didn’t share the same amusement just like everybody else.
"You did, what?" Vincent scoffed.
For a moment, his mind just went blank. Marianne also furrowed her brows, confused as she never heard of this before. But then again, she immediately realized that Marcus had shown interest in Vincent, Fil, and Marianne’s relationship before Fil left.
Anton, on the other hand, furrowed his brows and glanced at Fil. Just then, he was reminded that on the day of the filming of his music video, Marcus suddenly showed interest right after Anton told him Fil was in it.
Did Marcus come that day not to support him, but to harass Fil? And Anton had no idea what was going on right under his nose.
"You fucking son of a bitch!" Anton growled and without thinking twice, he threw a jab straight into Marcus’s cheek.
Anton’s action subsequently loosened Marcus’s grip on Fil as the latter fell back on his bottom. He wanted to throw another one, just like how Marcus beat up Kenzo that night without mercy. But alas, Fil grabbed his arm to stop him.
"Fil," he called as he looked back, only to see Fil quietly shake her head.
"You fucker..." Marcus touched the corner of his mouth while looking up at Anton. "Do you think I don’t know what you’re doing?"
"No one cares about what he’s doing, you sneaky son of a bitch!" Vincent roared as he marched toward Marcus, his fist balled into a tight fist. "I knew it! You wanted her for yourself, hah!?"
"Vincent — kyah!" Marianne yelled but was unable to do anything as Vincent had already thrown a punch at Marcus. As Vincent lashed out at his friend, whom he found out taking advantage of Fil behind his back, Marcus only received a few blows before throwing a successful punch back.
"Oh, no!" Michael gasped while taking his phone out. "Someone’s fighting here. Somebody stop them!" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Yet, Michael’s phone flashed, contradicting his ’panicking’ voice and his action for filming this brawl.
As for Fil, Anton simply took her away to a safer spot.
"Let’s get out of here, Fil," he said, but Fil simply watched Marcus and Vincent throw punches at each other.
Her eyes were still cold as ice, thinking that this was what she wanted before. When she heard what Marcus did to Kenzo, Fil knew exactly how to hurt Marcus the same way he did to Kenzo. Although things happened in between and changed her mind, it still gave her this sense of satisfaction seeing this happen.
"Fil." Another call from Anton snapped Fil from her thoughts. "Let’s get out of here. They can fight all night for all they want, but it’s not worthy of your time anymore."
She looked up at him and smiled. "You’re right. Let’s go, Anton. I want to go home."’
With that being said, Anton, Elise, and Fil left the scene while Marcus and Vincent fought fiercely while Marianne screamed for help. Unfortunately, this was Michael’s party. In other words, this fight was mere entertainment for everyone until it became life-threatening.
Both of them would end up in the hospital, the same way Kenzo ended up in the emergency room months ago.

"This is still frustrating! I knew it! I knew something was going on when I saw that dating article before! Those shitty — how can such a pretty face be so poisonous?! Do you call that a friend? I would’ve grabbed her hair if a chance arose!" Elise couldn’t help but express her frustrations on their way out. But noticing that Fil was just quiet, she cleared her throat.
"Fil, do you know how cool you were back there when you twisted that scum’s arm behind him?" she leaned closer to Fil’s side. "I didn’t know you can do that."
Fil offered a weak smile but said nothing.
"I’m sorry, Fil," Elise expressed with a deep sigh. "And thank you for letting me see why you won’t date a guy like him. He’s a trash, a scum, and even if he’s the last man on earth, I’d rather you’d be a nun."
"Are you okay?" asked Fil as this was most important for her. Just yesterday, Elise was crying and begging her for Marcus. Hence, she would understand if Elise wouldn’t be okay.
"To be honest?"
"Mhm."
"I’m not, but... I feel a lot better after slapping him."
"You did?"
"Four times and right now, that’s all I can think of." Elise grinned from ear to ear, recalling how she confronted Marcus without getting a word out.

[How things went down for Elise.]
"Fil."
The second Marcus heard Marianne call Fil, his entire body froze. Marianne and Vincent were just seated close to him. Therefore, the chances of Fil noticing him and this irritating woman clinging to him were at an all-time high.
"Baby, still going home?" the woman giggled coquettishly. "You can, but you got to take me with you."
This time, the coldness in his eyes grew even more chilly. Looking at the woman, the latter pursed her lips and knew that was her cue to leave him alone. Men like him were always the scariest and most violent, based on her experience.
’I should’ve done that earlier,’ he thought as he intuitively shifted his eyes to Vincent. There, Vincent was already being confronted by Fil. Thinking Fil hadn’t noticed him yet, Marcus slowly rose from his seat. But the second he did, he caught sight of the person standing a few steps from him.
When he moved his gaze, Marcus furrowed his brows the second he met Elise’s eyes.
"Hah." Elise scoffed as she closed the distance between them.
"Elise, I can explain —" His eyes went wide when a palm landed on his cheek, tossing his face to the side. Slowly, Marcus looked back at her and rocked his head. "I understand you are —"
Again, Elise landed on his cheek. However, Marcus let it go. Elise was frustrated and even though her slaps stings, he knew he had to make her listen. This was a misunderstanding.
"It’s —"
For the third time, Elise’s hand landed on his cheek again.
"I swear —"
SLAP!
Marcus touched his face with the back of his hand, looking back at her, but this time, he didn’t say anything. Elise just raised her brows before she nodded in satisfaction, saying;
"Thought so."
