The Devil's Good Girl-Chapter 279: What a woman
Chapter 279: What a woman
Thud!
Hearing this sudden thud made Fil shift her eyes to the sound. She barely laid her eyes on Vincent, who was viciously knocked out when a cloth covered her mouth and nose.
"Mhmp!" Fil let out a yell on instinct, but her voice sounded muffled. She instinctively held her breath, knowing whatever was on the cloth could knock her unconscious.
She couldn’t just let that happen.
Keeping an alert mind, Fil gripped the person’s arm tightly. She slipped her feet behind him, kicking it away to make him lose his balance. When he did, she hunched and threw him off of her.
"Urgh!" the man winced as his body landed on the floor.
"You!" the other man — the person who knocked Vincent out — took a large step and reached out to her. Fil quickly twisted her arm around his and launched a kick.
The man fell backward, surprised by the strength she was displaying. However, both men knew they couldn’t just let her be. Hence, recovering from their inflicted blows, they engaged in close combat with her.
The other man punched the emergency stop button on instinct while they tried to seize her. The elevator was very small for three people to be fighting. Fil had the advantage because of her physique.
Every time they made a move, she would counter it.
For the next few minutes, only the clang of the stainless walls was heard as their bodies would bounce off of it.
Fil kicked the other man’s groin when he tried to use more force, making him freeze. His legs closed as they trembled, hunching in pain until he was on his knees.
Taking this opportunity, the other man leaped to her to stop her. Fil quickly sensed the incoming attack, ready to fight him again. But before she could find a good position, the man he kicked in the nuts suddenly grabbed her ankles in place.
"You!" Fil hissed and before she knew it, a painful strike came to the side of her head.
The man pushed her, subsequently making her hit her head against the wall.
Fil felt instantly dizzy, her ears rang, and her vision shook. She felt the wall to give herself some assistance, but in the end, she found herself on the floor with Vincent.
Seeing that she was finally down, the two men quietly heaved a sigh of relief. They looked at each other as if they were in disbelief at how this woman gave them a hard time. This was not what they heard from the person who hired them!
"She’s bleeding," said one of them, gazing at the wall where a smear of blood was left. "What a woman."
"Who knew she could fight so well?" the other one clicked his tongue in irritation. "Get up there. This is not the time to writhe in pain."
The man whose groin was still throbbing painfully clenched his teeth. However, he managed to get up after a moment.
"What are we going to do with this one?"
Both men gazed down at Vincent, sighing.
Their original plan was to ambush Fil while she was alone. After all, the woman came with a man and thus, they knew they only had this chance. Who would have thought that a man harassing her would follow her to the elevator?
While both men were distracted, Fil tried to fight to stay conscious.
’Jack...’ she mentally called, blinking weakly. ’Someone is... someone’s trying to... help.’
Fil closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This time, aware she could only stay conscious for a while and not for long. When she reopened her eyes, her gaze landed on her things on the floor. Her bag fell when the man covered her lower face and then all of her things started to scatter during the fight. freewёbnoνel.com
Fil caught one item just lying among her things.
’That...’ she glanced at the men, who were busy talking. Her vision was blurred, but she could tell they hadn’t paid her attention.
Thus, Fil discreetly reached out to get it.

Suddenly, Michael’s remarks echoed in her ears as she reached out to the small device. Although the voices in the lift were distant, she tried her best to listen."
"Should we get rid of him?" the man asked the other. "We can’t just leave him here."
The other man gazed down again, and Fil quickly froze in her spot. His eyes veered to Fil, wondering if that was the position she fell.
"Is she still conscious?" he wondered, making the other man gaze down at her as well.
Both men assessed her for a while, moving her with their feet to make sure.
"Let’s just take her," the man said after a moment, lifting his eyes to the other. "They’ll know she’s missing anyway, so let’s not take this other guy with us."
The other man pondered, reluctant at the idea. "Are you sure?"
"We’re only told to take her."
"But we’re also told not to make a huge mess while doing so."
"Well... things happen." the other man shrugged, thinking this would be a huge mess, anyway. "Even if we take this guy, he’s the grandson of the Hale Construction. We can’t let the Hale Family in this mess as well or both of us will be doomed."
The two of them went silent while Fil discreetly reached out for the device Michael gave her not long ago. However, she could barely touch the device with her fingertips. For her to get it, she had to make a big move.
Hearing the men’s conversation and how they finally had an agreement, Fil made a timely decision.
"Ugh..." she let out a groan and tried to sit up. As she did, she pushed herself away and covered the device under her palm.
"Tch. She’s really stubborn." One of the men clicked his tongue again. "Knock her unconscious while I move this guy out of the way."
Having said that, both men quickly made a move. One of them dragged Vincent to the corner of the elevator while the other picked up the cloth and covered Fil’s lower face.
As Fil struggled helplessly, she pressed the button while clasping it. When she lost consciousness, her grip on the device loosened.
