The Devil's Good Girl-Chapter 310: Once the sun sets
Chapter 310: Once the sun sets
Centuries later...
In the Hale Household, two loud voices rang in the mansion. All the servants only wanted to leave for a moment and avoid this inevitable confrontation.
"Felix Hale!" a middle-aged woman yelled angrily. "Where do you think you’re going, huh!? No, you cannot leave! You’ve always been absent all this time and now, you want to leave?! You just came home!"
She hurriedly went to stop Felix from leaving, holding his arm to stop him from packing his stuff. "No, you cannot! I said —"
"Enough!" Felix, currently fifty, flung his arm away. His action caused the woman to fall onto the floor.
"Juliet, enough," he repeated under his breath, his voice laced with a tinge of suppressed anger. "Enough. We’re done. It’s over for the both of us."
The middle-aged woman scoffed. "No, it’s not over for us yet!"
"It is!" this time, he raised his voice. "Juliet, I might’ve been absent and hadn’t been on your side. However, do not forget who had been causing me problems just because you cannot control yourself!"
"I almost lost all of our family’s hard work because of you! And now that everything had settled, I’m coming home to my wife whom I hadn’t seen for months in the embrace of another man!? Worst, pregnant?!" Felix tossed the clothes on the luggage on the bed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I’m done, Juliet. I can no longer do this. I’m exhausted and drained."
Juliet’s lips quivered while shaking her head. "No, you can’t leave me."
"Yes, I can." He stressed. "You and I never loved each other, Juliet. Even at the beginning, we both knew we would never love each other. However, I had been faithful to you. I will not make excuses for how I neglected you and how I’m an absent husband. Even so, I was faithful."
He bit his lips as he felt this lump in his throat. "This marriage is over. Raise that child, but she or he is not mine. I can’t and I will not love it — no matter how much I try. That child doesn’t deserve a cruel father who would never love him for the rest of his life."
After saying his piece, Felix shoved the remaining clothes on the bed to his luggage. He hurriedly closed the luggage and carried it up. Once he did, he and his wife locked eyes with each other again.
"My lawyers will soon send you a letter of our separation. I don’t want to see you again, Juliet."
With that, Felix marched away without any intention of looking back.
"You can’t do this to me!" Juliet screamed as he walked away. "I wasted my youth on you, Felix! You took away my happiness! You and the entire Hale Family are the reason I’m miserably from the day I married you until this very second! You can’t leave me! I am your wife and if I am miserable, you have to be miserable as well!"
But alas, no matter how much yelling and begging Juliet did, Felix left without looking back.

In the first lifetime, Felix chooses to stay with Juliet despite her infidelity. Initially, he only left the house and recovered in the mansion he built on a far away outskirts. But now, he somewhat changed his decision.
Fil didn’t know if it was an instinct of the old Felix Hale to correct his mistake of the past. But what she was sure of was that, Felix Hale made the right decision.
Since Jackson’s passing hundreds of years ago, Fil had watched some people she had interacted with in the past. She watched their lives from the distance. Although she never personally meddled, her children (Kim and Dustin) would sometimes help those who deserved help indirectly.
In that way, she had watched how many of the good people she met in all the lifetimes she had lived previously lived a better life.
This time, she was watching her biological father.
After leaving the mansion, Felix Hale didn’t idle and called for his lawyers. The next day, his lawyers arrived at his mansion in Fil’s hometown. From then on, they worked on the settlements and the long process of Felix and Juliet’s divorce. Juliet’s pregnancy didn’t help her at all and ended up getting just a tiny bit of Felix’s hard-earned money.
Once this was all over, Felix chose to live in his little sacred place far away from the city. Although he still had a company to run, he managed to juggle his busy life in the city and the peaceful life at home.
Amidst all of this, she met a young woman named Rebecca.
Fil got to watch how a fifty-year-old man gets dazzled by a late-thirty-year-old woman. During this time, their relationship was still frowned upon. Criticism for the two of them was thrown: people would say Rebecca was simply using Felix because of his money while Felix was a fool to think a young woman like Rebecca would love him genuinely.
Despite the odds, the two of them proved that love knows no bounds.
Eventually, only after a year of their relationship, they got married and were blessed to have a child together.
"This man lives a fast life." Kim hugged her knees, watching the couple from under a tree in a neighboring town. "In one year, he was able to get divorced and get remarried. Now, they’re expecting."
Dustin, who was also idling under the same tree, smiled. He cupped his face. "He looked a lot younger, somehow. Is this what love is?"
"That’s love," Fil, who was sitting between them, smiled in satisfaction. "I like their love story."
Kim and Dustin looked at each other before their eyes fell on their mother. They had been watching Felix Hale since he was a child. Well, they didn’t really have a choice because Fil liked some individual’s lives. So, they were used to it.
"You didn’t help him," Dustin pointed out, referring to Fil usually asking a request to help the person they were watching and rooting for. Although their help wasn’t direct, it was able to change lives.
"He doesn’t need help," Fil muttered, keeping her eyes on the faraway mansion. "I’m sure he would have done the right thing and eventually lived a good life. After all, he’s a man with a pure heart and integrity. If it’s only him, he’d make a decision that would benefit him."
In the past, she had to choose where to live and she chose Rebecca’s womb. It wasn’t like Fil intended to ruin everything. She chose Rebecca simply because she seemed to be a good woman, someone who might be a good mother for her.
However, because Fil was born an omen, Rebecca and Felix’s lives were also affected. Not just their lives, but their judgment, their actions, and everything, leading to a complicated family tree and dynamic.
"Latrice."
"Huh?" Kim and Dustin furrowed their brows when they heard this faint voice.
Fil also furrowed her brows and squinted her eyes. Not long after, the twins also turned their heads to see what was happening in the mansion.
Currently, Rebecca and Felix are in the garden. Rebecca’s stomach was already huge and anytime, she would give birth. She sat on the rocking chair while Felix was on her side. While rocking her chair with her hands on her bulging stomach, she suddenly whispered.
"Latrice."
Felix slowly faced her, confused. "Latrice?"
"Mhm. Latrice." Rebecca smiled in satisfaction while nodding. "You said I can choose our daughter’s name since she’s a girl. So, I want to call her Latrice."
"Ahh..." Felix chuckled. "But why did you choose that name?"
"I don’t know?" she shrugged, snapping her eyes up at the clear sky. "It just crossed me and it sounds beautiful, isn’t it?"
She cast him another look and Felix nodded.
"It does sound beautiful and noble," he said. "Latrice."
Felix lowered his head and gently placed his hand on her tummy. His eyes squinted as he called, "Latrice, my daughter. Do you like your name?"
Rebecca chuckled as Felix started squeezing his voice. He was already fifty, but in her eyes, he was still a young man who could be silly at times.
The couple playfully talked to their stillborn child until Felix suddenly felt a kick. He and Rebecca jolted in surprise before another kick was felt.
"Oh!" Rebecca chuckled nervously. "Darling, I think she likes the name."
Felix’s eyes were still wide, darting his eyes between his wife and her tummy. "That’s the first time I felt her kick!" he blurted out, making her laugh more.
However, Rebecca’s laughter suddenly turned into a squeal as she intuitively sat up.
"Ah!"
"Becca, what’s going on?" he panicked. "What – why?"
Rebecca clenched her teeth and forced herself to look up at him. "I think today’s the day."
As soon as those words flew out of her mouth, Felix shouted. His voice was so loud everyone inside the mansion rushed outside. Including the people who came was Fil’s grandfather. And when they saw what was happening, it was chaos.
That same day, once the sun set, the first cry of Latrice was heard.
