Chapter 311: And the world kept turning

The school bell rang and most students still crowded the hallway. When Latrice opened her locker, something immediately fell out of it.

"Hmm?" She gazed down and picked up the folded pink letter.

Opening it, it says:

[Just a few words to brighten your day and let you know that someone out here admires you deeply. Your smile is like sunshine, and your kindness warms my heart.

Yours secretly,

A Secret Admirer.]

Her lips curled up as she read the beautiful cursive handwriting with a very small flower inside.

For years now, she had been receiving a letter from this secret admirer. Initially, she chose to ignore it and would just go by her day. But as days, weeks, and years go by, this person earned her intrigued.

Anyone would be intrigued if they were in her position.

’He’s been giving these letters to me since freshman year,’ she mumbled. ’That means whoever this guy is... is someone in my batch.’

Latrice hummed a long tune before another bell echoed in the hallway. She glanced up and inevitably caught the wall clock on the wall.

"Shoot!" she panicked, shoving the letter and some books in the locker before taking out those she needed for her next class. In a hurry, she slammed the locker and ran as fast as she could.

"Oh, no!" Latrice skidded on her steps when someone suddenly came out at the end of the hallway. Subsequently bumping into her and both of them falling on their body.

"Ouch..." Latrice winced in pain, rubbing her back as if that would soothe her rear. Glancing up, she saw another young lady on the floor. "Oh, my god! I’m so, so, sorry!"

She disregarded her pain and scooted to the other person, picking up their things to make amends.

"I’m really sorry about that," she expressed once more when she was able to segregate her things and the other person’s stuff. "I wasn’t looking. Are you hurt?"

When the other person lifted her eyes, Latrice furrowed her brows a little. They had a bit of similarity, but she didn’t dwell on it, as she was mesmerized by her pair of amethyst eyes. It was like looking at a pure gem.

"I’m alright," Fil smiled subtly and grabbed her things.

Latrice watched Fil stand up and walk away. Even when Fil’s figure was going farther away, Latrice was still in a daze.

"She’s so pretty," she whispered. "How come I never saw her at the university? Is she a freshman?"

Seeing someone with purple eyes was rare and for her, someone like Fil would easily gain popularity with her astounding beauty. Or was Fil already popular, but Latrice was just too busy with her preparation since it was her last year at the university?

RINGGG!

"Oh, shoot!" Latrice snapped back to her senses, picked up her things, and hurried to her class.

"You’re late," Kenzo pointed out as soon as Latrice sat down next to him.

Latrice glared at him and hissed, placing her index in front of her mouth. Kenzo casually smirked at her and watched her scramble at her things.

"What happened to you?" he asked, but Latrice chose to ignore him. Hence, he had nothing else to do but stare at her. As he did so, he noticed a slight bruise on her wrist, causing his lips to curve down.

"You’re bruised," he pointed out, watching her look back at him before checking her wrist.

The bruise was just small with redness around it. When she fell earlier, she used her hand on instinct to reduce the impact.

"Heh. It’s nothing," she said and didn’t mind it.

Latrice was a little delicate despite her somewhat mischievous character. Hence, she would easily bruise which would usually worry her parents. But it was alright. It wouldn’t kill her.

She easily diverted her attention, but not Kenzo. He was bothered by the bruise on her wrist — worried, even. Throughout the class, he would glance at her wrist from time to time, barely listening to the class and even forgetting to take down some important notes.

Little did they know, that just outside the classroom, Fil was standing in front of the door and watching the two through the glass.

"I wonder how she ended up still resembling me?" she wondered, but when her eyes veered in Kenzo’s direction, she smiled.

In this lifetime, Rebecca was able to give birth without dying at childbirth. It didn’t surprise Fil because Rebecca only died because the one she gave birth to in the first life was not entirely human. So, Fil was able to watch Latrice grow up.

Not just Latrice, but she also watched her parents — Irene and Simon — pick up Elijah. Sadly, Irene and Simon were still not blessed with a child of their own. However, with Elijah’s arrival, they were still a happy family of three.

Latrice was also close to the Lovin Family, and she treated Elijah as somewhat of the little brother.

Now Fil was a little curious about Latrice and Kenzo.

Would Latrice find out that her secret admirer for years was actually her best friend? Would Kenzo ever confess?

There were so many questions Fil had in mind and the only way she would get them was to watch their lives unfold.

Meanwhile, in the same university...

Shanaiah and Marcus were sitting in the library while waiting for someone.

"What’s taking her so long?" Marcus frowned deeply. "You said your tutor will come today. How come she hadn’t come here?"

Shanaiah glared at Marcus with irritation. "Do you think I would be in this mood if she’s answering my calls?"

"Tsk." Marcus clicked his tongue, and they waited for another fifteen minutes. When the fifteen minutes mark passed, he straightened his back. "That’s it. I’m not waiting here anymore. Fire her."

"Are you crazy? She’s probably confused since I changed the meeting location at the last minute — thanks to you."

"Shanaiah, this tutor you’re talking about isn’t worth it. Didn’t you say she’s around the same age as us? What do you think we’ll learn from someone like that kind of person? Not to mention, she doesn’t even have the decency to come on time. Aren’t you paying her to make us wait?"

Shanaiah rolled her eyes and leaned back. "So, what do you want to do?"

"I’ll just get us a new one. Someone with more experience," he suggested. "Let’s go out of here first. I’m hungry and bored."

"Fine..." Shanaiah took out her phone and sent a short message to Alicia, before taking her handbag to follow wherever Marcus was headed.

In this lifetime, Marcus and Shanaiah were still friends. However, they weren’t friends with Vincent because Vincent’s life took a different turn. Felix and Juliet’s divorce changed Rosalind’s (Vincent’s mother) life. Instead of being part of the elites, they were more of a lower rich people on the social ladder.

They were still rich, but not in the same league as his friends in the previous lifetime.

DING!

Inside the same library, a phone notification was heard. The sound made everyone in the quiet library turn to look.

Kim smiled awkwardly. "Sorry," she whispered and checked the message.

[From: Shanaiah

You’re fired.]

The corner of her lips curled up upon seeing the message from Shanaiah. Kim didn’t waste a second as she took out another phone and sent a short message to Dustin. Once the message was sent, Kim lazily leaned up in satisfaction.

"Mission success," she muttered.

Just like how Fil would sometimes ask Kim and Dustin for some favors, she asked them again after a long time. This time, Kim and Dustin had to watch over Alicia. Like always, the two didn’t ask many questions. They just do what they usually do.

After watching Alicia get scolded by Shanaiah on the first day of their tutoring, Kim and Dustin already concocted a plan. Shanaiah was a walking red flag and it wouldn’t take long for her to display violence. Therefore, they acted before anything like that could happen.

Acting like a normal stranger in the street, Kim purposely bumped into Alicia on her way to the meeting place. After the brief apology, Kim already got a hold of Alicia’s phone.

So, now Alicia was probably waiting for Shanaiah and Marcus in a different place.

In a cafe where Alicia was supposed to meet Shanaiah, Alicia waited patiently. At first, she didn’t mind the wait. But after thirty minutes, she couldn’t help but check the time and then the entrance.

"This is strange. I still have a part-time in thirty minutes." Her lips curved down as her shoulders lowered.

This tutoring would pay her well, even though Shanaiah had a bad temper. If Alicia could only save up a little, she could let go some other part times so she could have time for herself. Which explained her anxiety.

"Excuse me?" Suddenly, a young lady approached her table. "Are you the person in this ad?"

Alicia furrowed her brows and shifted her eyes at the ad. It was a tutoring services ad that had her number, time and place for the meet up, and even her face.

"Uh." Confused, Alicia was about to deny that she did that ad when the young lady smiled.

"I would like to avail the tutoring services. Can you help me?"

Alicia forced a smile. "I’m sorry, but I think there’s a mistake. I didn’t put up that ad. I don’t know who or why, but I’m no longer offering tutoring services because I’m already hired." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Is that so?" the young lady frowned a bit. "Is there no more slot?"

With Shanaiah’s temper? Alicia was certain there weren’t any slots.

"I’m sorry."

"I can pay!"

Alicia sighed and repeated, "I’m sorry."

"Well." the young lady pursed her lips before she wrote something on the piece of paper. "If you change your mind, here’s my number. I really need someone to help me, but I don’t want an old person to tutor me. They’re scary."

"Ha... ha... really?"

The young lady smiled. "My name’s Elise. Please tell me if there are any slots opened!"

"Sure."
