The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 129: This is only the beginning
Chapter 129: This is only the beginning
It had been days since they got the news, court dragged on like and endless line on deaths door they moved through the nights with an overwhelming sense of numbness. They’ve barely slept. The nights events kept their minds awake. They both tossed and turned all day waiting for the sun to find its way to the horizon. They’d be leaving for home soon.
They could speak of nothing to anyone about Odette’s identity. This would remain a secret in their family, no one but the two of them and the four witches would know the whole truth. Only their family would know of Odette’s abilities, but not the origins.
It broke Violet to know there would be a secret she’d have to keep from some of her closest loved ones. She wasn’t used to such dishonesty; this wasn’t who she was.
But it’s who she had to be. She had to be different to protect her daughter. She had to adapt and change to face new realities.
Because when she went home everything would be different. Even her room would be different.
They decided to stay in America, at the manor and not move to Romania and live in the capital. Even before the prophecy neither of them wanted their daughter to grow up in the eyes of their people. Now after knowing the truth of Odette’s origins, they knew it was the right choice, pretty much the only choice was staying back and raising Odette away from the dangers of the vampire court. They considered it might be away to post-pone things as well. Being closer to the witch’s coven was also reassuring for them.
Violet tried to focus her thoughts on the tasks at hand. She had a nursery to decorate. Ash wanted red and black, Violet wanted white and pink. They settle for black and pink. She planned the color scheme for the room and furniture, she started buying dresses and cute little outfits. It became easier as the return trip grew nearer.
When it was finally time for the goodbyes, Lilith was a in complete distress. Practically throwing herself on the floor with the idea of them separating.
In hysterical sobs she cried holding Violet, "I hate how our time together has come to an end, you must leave and so must I. Oh my darling I’m heartbroken."
Violet giggled inwardly at her grandmother-in-law’s affection. It was motherly and Violet never had a mother to raiser her.
Just like Lilith never got to raise her daughter.
The two were a match. It hurt Violet to leave Lilith, but she had a month, and a half left before her daughter would arrive and still had half a house to shift. And Lilith couldn’t state put for too long, she was a petal that blew with the wind, never a seed to put down roots.
She would be back to meet her great-grand daughter.
Gabriel would be moving downstairs to Riley’s old room. Uncle Hyde was staying behind. Vlad had left to woo Gabriel’s mother. Jeremy was moving in with Rosa in the guest house. Waiting for their new house to be built. They decided having their own home would be better. Leaving just Oliver and Gabriel on the second floor.
Rosa would still be attending school, same with Jeremy and Oliver. But Ash and Violet would stop attending, they had private tutors that would teach them different things than the curriculum at school.
The flight back was calm and quiet. Rosa could tell Violet had a lot on her mind. She wanted to ask about everything what happened, why did Violet close herself off from her. she’s been different ever since their luncheon. But if Rosa really thought about it and was going to be honest with herself. She’s been different since the coronation. Since the night she burned Riley alive. The family told everyone it was a goddess moving through Violet like a vessel. But she didn’t buy it. Something seemed off about the whole story. Especially given the distance her best friend put between them. She wanted to corner Violet and ask her later.
The house felt empty missing 4 people that where here for days together. It felt stale and cold, and not because of the temperatures. But because of loneliness.
Violet felt a cloud of sadness settle over her. Their stuff had already been shifted around, it nice having their own room with a nursery attached. But it was still so much change for her.
"We should go see your midwife, you’ve traveled a lot and experienced a lot recently, we should get you formally checked." Ash said opening up his suitcase to unpack.
"Okay, should we call and schedule for tomorrow?" Violet asked.
"Yeah, I’ll have the housekeeper call during their daytime working hours, so they know we’re coming in after hours, and it won’t be a sudden surprise." Ash mentions.
"Okay."
Violet unpacks with Ash. Things seemed pretty mundane.
The following weeks went by faster than Violet expected. Rosa approached the subject of Violets distant behavior a few times only to be gaslit and dismissed with no explanation. But eventually Violet stopped building the wall and knocked what she had built down. She made it clear she wouldn’t talk about what happened after a while and asked her to leave it alone. After their relationship almost went back to normal.
Arya came over and they redecorated Gabriel’s old office, painting the walls a pale pink color.
The furniture was all black, but the cloth covering and the bassinet was in the middle of the room and the bed sheets were the same tint of pink as the wall. She had brightly colored toys and a white rocking chair with black and pick cushions. A toy box shaped like a Victorian chest.
They decorated their room to look completely different Violet went with a mermaid theme with shells and pearls. Pictures on the wall of their family and friends, in delicate gold frames. Watercolor paintings of a tropical beach and underwater, all in pastel colors. Ash was against the idea at first, but she made a fair point that she’s home more often than him with the baby, she should love where she spends a lot of time. They settled for him designing the bathroom and the closet.
Violet was growing impatient her nesting period was over and was ready to meet her baby girl. She was getting irritable, and she was counting the days like some people count calories. She redecorated the house to look more homely and less like an adult rich man’s bachelor pad. Each room its own theme, the library looked Victorian now. The kitchen was rustic modern, and the staff loved it. The living room looked classy and regal.
None of the brothers cared. They liked what she did, it felt more like a home and the brothers were the happiest they’ve ever been.
The birthing day was closing in. She was stocked on diapers and wipes for all different sizes. The cutest dresses and outfits. She would be the cutest little girl that ever lived. Violet walked around rubbing her belly. Ash read to her and played his little girl music while Violet sang for her.
The little princess was loved beyond compare.
When the October 31st finally arrived, she started her day dancing and singing, she moved her way gracefully around the house without a care in the world. Ash couldn’t help but smile at the sight of his beautiful wife, once a scared mousy little girl, now a strong but gentle queen.
She started setting up the bathroom. She planned to do a home water birth. They had it remolded with to have a large family sized bathtub. The bathroom looked like a crystal cave in an undersea cavern. The ceiling was lined with amethyst, crystal, and rose quartz. He has installed an aquarium with rare fish and plant life that could be seen from the other side of the bedroom wall. The sink was shaped like rock bowl with a brass faucet. The bath was also made of stone. Which kept warm water warm and cold water cold. She had an herbal remedy designed by Jeremy to help soothe Violet while she’s in active labor.
Everyone was on their way; the whole family would be there. Waiting for the birth of the crown princess.
Around 9pm her contractions kicked in. 30 seconds long and 7 minutes apart. Violet was screaming hunched over in the bath, gripping the side of the tub and Ash’s hand. Every 7 minutes a painful scream would reverberate through the whole house. Violet felt like she was being kick in her pelvic bone. Like her body was being ripped in half. Beads of sweat built on her forehead and Ash dabbed them away with a soft towel, keeping cool wet rag to dab her face with.
"You’re doing great, baby, keep breathing through it." Ash encouraged her.
With every contraction she took a little energy from Ash, his energy force was the only thing keeping her grounded.
Her contractions getting closer together, her screams getting louder and more frequent.
"I can’t do this please, oh Ash, I can’t I’m done." Violet begged tears streaming down her face.
"Yes you can, you can handle more than anyone I’ve ever met." Ash kept encouraging her, dabbing her face.
30 seconds and 2 minutes apart. The time was passing by slow. Too slow. Violet felt like she was shattering in the tub.
The people waiting downstairs where anxious and nervous. Jeremy and Oliver paced the first floor. Rosa sat down somewhere and rose to set somewhere and repeated over and over. Gabriel checked his phone regularly, looking for a distraction.
Lilith sat in the garden in her dragon form acting as security for any threats.
Vlad sat with Viktoria on a couch drinking and eating. Viktoria wasn’t worried one bit. She trusted Violet to deliver her baby cousin. She trusted Violet to survive, and she trusted Ash to do whatever it took for Violet to make it out. Birthing was risky in the supernatural world.
An ear piercing scream shook the walls of the house. From upstairs.
In the bathroom Violet was pushing, the baby was crowning. With one final grunt, holding her breath Violet pushed with all her might, and a small baby appeared in the tub. The midwife picked up the baby, Violet fell into the tub, collapsing from exhaustion. The tiny life screamed, taking in her breath of air.
Ash grinned the biggest grin he’s ever had. It was ear to ear. Violet and him gazed down at their perfect little girl. Her vibrant short white hair, her eyes barely open, but you could see it. the crimson red. The same color her father had when he was in rage mode.
"She’s as beautiful as you." Ash whispered.
Violet rubbed her babies her with her thumb. "My darling Odette."
EPILOGUE
Rosa and Jeremy had gotten closer, living together was going well. They were falling head over heels in love.
There had been so many changes for everyone it was overwhelming, but they figured it out. They all made it work.
In the begging of October, Rosa and Jeremy announced their engagement and that they were with child. They were delighted to tell everyone about their growing little girl.
Because Rosa was only a half vampire, her pregnancy would be six months long. Giving them more time to prepare and spend time with their niece before their own daughter was born. They married after their daughter was born. With so many events happening back-to-back, they wanted it to be less stressed when they decide to formally tie the knot making Rosa an actual princess. She always laughed about the fact her daughter would be a princess before her. Her mother was elated, Jeremy insisted on moving them closer, which meant into a much nicer home.
But Jeremy, the ever-honest man he is, told them straight up, his in-laws can’t live in a shack, it’s embarrassing. What would they say about prince whose in-laws live in a shack, it’s unacceptable for royal and that’s what their daughter was now, royalty. It was time they looked like their new class bracket. They didn’t like his approach but, in the end, they accept his gesture of good will, even though it was done with selfish reasons. It was quite the adjustment at first. Her little brother, Aiden, loved it and ran around the huge house constantly, he was the happiest he’s ever been with their new home. Especially that he can decorate his room how ever he wanted and his ’Uncle Jeremy’ would ’make it happen’.
At first Rosa’s mother fought against the idea, it felt like accepting charity she wasn’t a charity case, she didn’t want things handed to her.
The day Jeremt became a father was the best day of his life, they named their little girl Delilah. She bad Jeremy’s blonde hair and her mothers bronzed skin. She was beautiful and unique.
Ayra and Roland were engaged since since the moment she got back. He was transferring to a new wizard school and for her to visit him they had to be more than just boyfriend/girlfriend, Arya all to happily excepted his proposal and was already planning their wedding. It was be 20 months later that she would finally marry Roland after he graduated from his wizard school. The night of their wedding Arya conceived, giving birth to a healthy baby boy with copper hair and blue eyes.
"He’s so beautiful Roland; he looks like my mother" where her first words.
The three of them grew up together, best friends. It was almost like the prophecy had been forgotten along with Ash’s and Violet’s secret, it died with the prophecy.
Except, one witch remembered.
She’ll find a wolf in need of her help, and a wolf will find a witch in need of safety.
They both had a vendetta to settle.
