Chapter 66: confessions before a party

Ash’s gentle gesture and words made Violet blush. Her cheeks heated up and she was turning pink.

"You’re so cute when you blush." Ash chuckled.

"Stop it." Violet giggled shyly.

Even though they’ve been living together for several months, she still felt nervous self conscious around him. Silly as it was it was true for Ash too. No one has ever made him as nervous as she did.

She was his everything and Ash knew if he lost her it would destroy him and he’d burn the world for her.

"Okay, okay, I’ll stop, but I need to nap before we start getting ready for the party. Stay with me?" Ash asked.

"Oh, the party! Viktoria and I were supposed to set up for a slumber party downstairs!" Violet said urgently, "I have to go get her. How

about you come stay with us in my room?"

"Okay." He didn’t argue or insist differently he did as she asked and got up to head to her room "I’ll get a movie picked out."

"Oh I don’t know what she would like to watch." Violet said disappointedly.

"Don’t worry, she likes comedies and horses and believe it or not, she likes cartoons."

Violet felt a small ache of jealousy. How did he know so much about her?

Noticing her change in mood he reassured her "She’s my cousin we grew up together, and vampires don’t tend to change even after 100’s of years. Immortal and stubborn."

"Oh, haha, I never pegged her for the comedy type let alone cartoon." Violet mentioned.

"Yep, I’ll put on a movie for her don’t worry. Go get her and stop her from making a mess." Ash said heading to Violet’s room.

"Kay." Violet rushed downstairs to get Viktoria. She didn’t see her in the living room and she checked Viktoria’s room, and no one. She was worried Viktoria wouldn’t want to do the sleep over with her and changed her

mind. Then Violet heard Viktoria’s voice coming from the kitchen and dining area.

Rushing over she notices the manor was buzzing with activity and chatter. Violet watches for a moment stunned to see so much change happen in such a short time. It was about 8a now and Gabriel was standing with Mrs. Grace the housekeeper and Eugene the Butler. He looked to be giving them directions, glancing over Gabriel spots Violet, dismissing himself from his staff and leaving them to their work he approaches Violet.

"How’s Ash?" Gabriel asked.

"He’s looking almost completely healed thanks to Jeremy and his own healing abilities." Violet said beaming with pride.

"That’s good to hear, where are you headed?" Gabriel said with a voice of authority.

"To the kitchen, I thought I heard Viktoria in there." Violet answered.

Gabriel frowned "Why?"

"Because we’re supposed to watch a movie with Ash, but I kinda forgot about the party and told her to set up in the living room." Violet said laughing off her embarrassment.

Gabriels displeased face smoothed out and relaxed some. "Well that’s good." And then without saying another word just walked away, pulled out his phone and made another phone call.

It bothered Violet none as she skipped over to the kitchen in search of Viktoria.

"Hey, so change of plans." Violet said bragging out the ’S’ in plans.

"Figured. Your room?" Viktoria answered back quickly.

"Yep, Ash is joining us too if that’s okay." Violet said.

Violet felt disappointed, did he not trust her to keep her word? She always kept her word, she might be a bit naughty but she was reliable to a fault.

"It’s because he wanted to be with me, he’s healing." Violet’s voice was happy.

It made Viktoria feel a little better, but she was till looking forward to that bonding time she would have with Violet. She’d never had a girl friend, and though she’d never admit it, she was excited to have a chance at one.

"Don’t worry, it’s just for a nap, he’s got a party to plan for me." Violet reassured her.

Viktoria squinted her eyes some and glared at Violet suspiciously. How did she know what I was thinking?

"Do you just have a way with words or something? You seem to know the answers to questions and thoughts I haven’t said or asked."

"I guess I just, uh, have a way with words?" Violet instantly got nervous and tried to hide and pretend she had no idea what Viktoria was talking about.

"You suck at lying, spill it." Viktoria side eyed her and tapped her foot impatiently.

"I uh, I don’t know what you’re talking about." Violet still trying to deny the obvious.

She was lying.

"Tell me or I don’t want to hang out." Viktoria didn’t like being lied to. It really pissed her off.

"Okay, okay, but we have to go upstairs to my room." Violet said quietly and grabbing her hand and dragging her upstairs into her room.

Swiftly shutting the door.

Looking Viktoria dead in the eyes Violet said quietly "I know other peoples thoughts."

"Excuse me but what?" Viktoria shouted "that’s literally impossible."

Violet took a deep breathe bracing her self for this serious reality and scary confession.

"It’s like I know what you’re thinking. Not quiet like reading your thoughts, it’s like seeing a vision of your thoughts. I just know them like I know the sky is blue. I don’t exactly know how to describe it. But its only recently started and I can only do it with Vampires not other species of the night or humans." Violet said quietly and quickly, the words vomited from her mouth, it was a lot for Viktoria to process.

Viktoria was at a loss for words and was utterly stunned with Violet’s confession.

"Well say something." Violet said fearfully.

"Shit hold on, give me a second." Viktoria snapped. A little harsher than she meant too.

Violet’s fear and anxiety rose. And in doing so it disturbed Ash, he was becoming more and more in tunes with her feelings especially when she was near.

"What did you tell her Violet?" Ash sat up his tone was angry and aggressive. A growl was hovering behind his words.

"The truth." Violet admitted.

"We talked about this." Ash growled at her.

Violet whimpered a bit, she knew she messed up, but it’s not her fault she wasn’t really good at lying directly like that.

Ash rose quickly and moved with haste grabbing Viktoria by the throat before she had a chance to blink.

"Don’t open your fucking mouth about this or I’ll do you as bad as I did Riley." Ash’s eyes were glowing red with anger and demand, his

look left no room for misunderstanding or argument.

Clawing at Ash’s hand desperate for oxygen she couldn’t speak with hi crushing her wind pipes.

"Stop it Ash that’s enough." She said aloud, but when he didn’t move or respond she reached inside his mind and commanded him ’STOP. RELEASE HER’.

Instantly Ash let go of Viktoria and she collapsed on to the floor coughing. Violet knelt down rubbing her back. Looking up to Ash giving him a very disappointed look and said "That was too much Ash."

Holding her throat Viktoria heaved as she coughed, choking on her own air.

"Are you okay?" Violet asked tenderly.

Viktoria couldn’t quite speak yet but she nodded.

His eyes narrowed at Viktoria hunched over on the floor, "you’re gonna keep your mouth shut am I clear?"

Viktoria nodded. She definitely did not want to end up like Riley. But she also didn’t want to cause any problems for her friend.

"I’ll see you later Ash, I’m going to spend some time with Viktoria, alone, now." Before turning away and giving her attention to Viktoria comforting her.

Ash felt the sting of her tone, did he mess up? He had to be tough on Viktoria, she needed to know what was at stake.

Ash left feeling upset and slammed the door behind him. No he wasn’t wrong, he needed to protect to her and the only way to do that is

kill anyone who threatens her safety. He wouldn’t hesitate to do what he needed to, to keep Violet safe. Nevertheless he had a party to help set up. Leaving he joined his brothers who were downstairs. Their fathered arrived this morning and was on his way here. In broad daylight. Their father being the first

vampire was able to withstand the low sun with the possession of a ring gifted to him by his demon mother Lilith. She wanted her children to walk the day with her so she had it crafted for both of her sons.

Ash seeing all of his brothers but Riley frowned. What the hell?

"Gabriel where the hell is Riley, why isn’t here." Ash snapped.

"Looking bad in front of dad is his problem not ours." Jeremy stated.

"He’s right. Riley isn’t our problem, he’s lucky he’s allowed to live here with the stunt he pulled." Gabriel announced.

"Can you do that? Kick him out?" Oliver asked with a mischievous grin.

"Of course, I own this house as the current head of the family here." Gabriel commented with clear undeniable authority.

"Fair point" Oliver admitted.

"Your father is arriving, my princes." Eugene announced at the door.
