The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 211: Questioning (3)
Chapter 211: Questioning (3)
"You’ve come here to tell me to stop my wife from mourning the loss of someone dear to her? Is that what you said or am I so tired that I misunderstood it? I hope it is the latter for your sake."
Arlo’s palms started to sweat as he had to repeat himself. "I say this out of concern for the queen. It is quite early and we have not heard news of a child yet. From what I heard, she has been devastated and is staying inside her room. I wish that she would think of herself and not stress her body with this matter."
Arlo now wished he had gone to the queen as she was less scary and listened to him though there were moments that she was against what he said. "It is my job to do what I can to prevent the queen from losing an heir. I speak with her well-being in mind."
"You want me to allow you to tell my wife that she should stop mourning her maid. Are you a fool, Arlo? Wouldn’t upsetting her be as bad as whatever you think mourning will do? She is in her room sitting around. I don’t think she could lose an heir that way," said Tobias.
Annoying her with these ridiculous theories might stress her body more than mourning for Lynn.
"She is already drinking that awful remedy you put together though she hates it. Don’t ask her to do anything more. You want her to be pregnant but all you do is put so much pressure on her. Not just you," Tobias said as Arlo looked scared out of his mind. "The court. The people. I will not disturb her now."
Arlo was surprised once again to hear this as he was expecting that the king would be willing to do anything to have an heir as soon as possible and try everything being suggested.
"Why are you still standing before me?" Tobias asked as the doctor’s presence was an eyesore.
"Oh." Arlo didn’t know that he was dismissed. "Before I go, I must inform you that should the queen not show signs of having a child in the next few weeks-"
"Get out of my sight before I have you hung," Tobias interjected.
Arlo stepped back as the king grabbed a rock on his desk. "Excuse me."
Tobias wished for one day without a fool in the palace coming to him about Hazel or a child. He wanted a child but not by adding pressure to Hazel to get it. How could anyone think of telling her about a baby now when she was dealing with the loss of someone close to her?
"Your Majesty."
Tobias looked to the door as that greeting could only mean one thing. "I would have come to you."
Hazel entered Tobias’s private study and looked around at all the books just thrown anywhere. It was a horror for Hazel as the books should be neatly tucked somewhere. "I thought of visiting you. What are you doing to these books, Tobias? Do you hate them?"
Tobias stared in wonder as Hazel started to pick up the books instead of coming to him. "I do hate them. They are filled with things I have to look over. Some with cases around the palace, laws we need to put in place, and foolish things. Would it hurt to give your husband more attention? This mess will be cleaned up."
"You could have brought some to me so that I can read them and make a summary for you. I need something to do these days. I need a good distraction. Have you heard the lies going around about you having a lover and it is Linda?"
Tobias laughed as it sounded nothing more than a load of crap. "That is not funny Hazel. As if I would ever get involved with that family. You have met her brothers, haven’t you? Besides, I picked you for a reason."
Tobias got up from his seat to help Hazel clean up the room. "Who is spreading this lie?"
"The maids. They must have seen the two of you speaking and thought something of it. First Lynn and now I had to tell Linda that I know she isn’t your lover. She was more concerned about me than herself. I don’t want her called anyone’s lover so please do what you can to stop it," said Hazel. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Hazel spoke to Valerie on the way here but Tobias stepping in would also be helpful.
"I must before her family comes to question me about it. They’ll attack first then think about it later. Where is Linda now?" Tobias asked as he was well aware that she was to meet with Hazel today.
"I sent her off earlier than we planned. I think you can expect a little awkwardness the next time you are around Linda as she would like to avoid any more misunderstandings. My husband and my best friend, two people I trust, can’t be around each other without rumours starting. It is ridiculous. I am at my end and this is only the beginning," Hazel said, taking a seat as her body suddenly felt weak.
"Are you alright?" Tobias asked, stooping down before her. "You look a little pale. Do you want me to call the doctor?"
Hazel shook her head as then she would have to hear about being better for a child. "I am fine. Maybe it was from moping around all day and the weather is a little warm. I promise you that if I feel something is off I will tell you. Sit with me," she patted beside her.
"I told you that it would be fine to leave the palace to visit your family or to stay with the Hensons. Don’t think about who might dislike it. Wouldn’t you like to be around to help Helena plan her wedding?" Tobias asked.
"I would. It would be like I got to plan mine in a way. I just can’t bring myself to leave you here in the palace. You need a break from this palace more than I do. You’ve been here with it far longer than me and I applaud you for not losing your mind," Hazel replied, resting her head on Tobias’s shoulder.
"I am good at sneaking out of here. Go to your parents and I will come to visit you. I’ll try to make this better for you soon," Tobias said, lifting her hand to kiss it. He thought there was something wrong with Hazel again as she was more warm than usual. "Promise me to have a doctor look at you before you leave."
"Okay," Hazel agreed.
