"I have long awaited another opportunity for the two of us to speak. This was not how I imagined we would be for our next talk, but it will do. You are a remarkable dancer. When did you learn how to dance?" Helena asked.

"I cannot remember the age. I’ve learned a lot perhaps from the moment I could talk," Tobias answered.

"I see. You didn’t answer me last night about your time out at war. I am interested in knowing the stories you have to share. I wish to hear it from you instead of guards or other men who will add to the story or try to make you sound weak," Helena said, trying once more to spark a conversation with him.

Tobias peered down at Helena. "Why do you continue to question me about war when you have no interest in it? Do you think that is all I want to talk about?"

"But I heard you love being out at war," Helena replied, confused as to why he didn’t just share stories.

"There is nothing for me to share with you about going out to a place where my life could be taken. Your father wouldn’t be too happy if I were to give you war stories. They will be very detailed and I doubt you would be able to handle it. Speak about what you are truly interested in," Tobias advised Helena.

He was long bored of all of them asking about what they thought he wanted to speak about. Most of the women he came across since he returned wanted to talk about war. There was so much more to him that they could use to carry a conversation. He learned things about them so he could flirt, why couldn’t they put in some effort to find more about him other than war?

Helena was stumped on what to ask him about since he didn’t want to speak of war.

"Don’t tell me there is nothing you want to ask the prince? My mother is watching us, but she cannot hear. Ask what you want now," said Tobias, giving her the chance to ask anything.

Helena bit her lip. She didn’t expect him to answer what she wanted to know, but if he did, she had a feeling he would be more truthful than Hazel. "My sister claims that you asked her for a dance at the ball-"

"Claims?" Tobias chuckled, unintentionally interrupting Helena. "Do you not believe what your sister said?"

"I do, but I also believe that there is more left out of the story because you picked her before me and I was the one to accept your invitation to dance. From what Hazel told me before we entered the palace, the two of you never got along so why now are you picking her over me?" Helena asked, desperately needing the answer. "She didn’t like you."

Tobias was tempted to come out clean to let her know that it was Hazel he wanted to dance with all along and she was the second thought, but as he moved around with Helena and his eyes went to the other women for a moment, he could not.

He could not find it in his heart to reveal the truth when Hazel wanted it hidden. He didn’t want to be the reason Hazel had to be bothered by her sister and who knew when a better time to share the truth would come.

"I would not hold onto sharing a dance with me at the ball. Despite what everyone thinks, it means nothing so I would let it go. You’ll be disappointed in the future if you do not. As for my time with your sister at the ball, there was nothing special for you to need to know. Do you plan to go around, questioning what I did with others as if you are my wife?" Tobias asked.

Being possessive when there was nothing between them was something he did not enjoy. There was nothing between him and Helena and there never will be. Tobias failed to see why his mother thought he would go after the younger Wallace.

"I only wanted to know because my sister has been acting strangely since that night. She is not the Hazel that I know and love. She is more secretive and has been keeping to herself. I want to know if something happened so I can protect her," Helena said, genuinely wanting to know about the night at the ball so she could help Hazel.

Tobias was amused by how Helena thought she could lie to him. He lived in a palace surrounded by a lot of liars. It was easy to pick up that she was not being truthful with him. Helena only wanted to know what happened between him and Hazel to know if her sister had ’stolen’ him. Have something to be upset with her sister about.

Tobias didn’t think Helena stood outside last night to have a friendly chat with Hazel. Not when Helena had been pleading with her eyes to be picked and she was not. Again, Helena was holding onto the dance they shared, acting like it made her special.

"Let me give you some advice Helena. The palace isn’t anywhere special for you to ruin your relationship with your sister over. Becoming queen is not worth it because you will need your family in the future, should you become queen, to help you when you realise that the palace is nothing like you imagine. Hold her close," Tobias said, giving this advice though Helena would not become his wife.

She should take this advice and repair her relationship with Hazel if something had already happened between them. If Hazel were to become queen, she would also need her sister. Tobias was set to become king and didn’t see the throne as something he would desire so much that he would be at odds with his little sister.

"Hazel and I are fine. I was only a little concerned about her behaviour these days. Sisters tend to argue, but we still love each other when the day comes to an end. We argued over what dresses we wanted to wear in the palace, but then I spent the night before the selection started in bed with Hazel," Helena said, trying to rid Tobias of thinking she hated Hazel.

"Perhaps we should not speak of my sister anymore. I will ask about something better than war. What do you enjoy doing to pass the time in the palace and where is your favourite place to be?" Helena asked, moving on from war since it got her nowhere.

The prince was going to be more interested in her again by the time the dance was finished.
