She crawled toward the door with difficulty and opened the door.

Long Yifan who was about to knock again, was surprised to see no one, then his eyes traveled down and when he saw Gu Jin on the floor he was surprised,

"Jin? What happened to you?"

He crouched down and hurriedly held her in his arms.

The moment his arms wrapped around her, Gu Jin felt a strange kind of warmth traveling through her body.

The pain suddenly vanished into thin air.

Gu Jin was pleasantly surprised, even her mind which was shrouded with fog seemed to have cleared at the moment.

A strange kind of relaxation overtook her body.

"I...I am going to self-awaken an element. I don’t know which element it is. And if I don’t know the element, I won’t know which environment should I be in. Until and unless the element is awakened, I will feel a constant pain in my body, but the pain disappeared the moment you held me." Gu Jin explained.

Long Yifan didn’t feel any happiness, hearing Gu Jin’s explanation.

She was in his arms like he had wished, but...she was in pain. This was not what he wanted.

However, what mattered most now was to ensure Gu Jin wasn’t in pain.

He remembered how the Aunt of the Gu family had died. Just like Gu Jin she had died during a self-awakening.

What was even more cruel was her situation was quiet similar to Gu Jin’s

She didn’t know which element was to be awakened and his father(Mr. Long) wasn’t near her...

In the end, she lay in her research room, her veins which had swollen due to the pain, burst open and she died a horrible death.

Just then Luo Meng arrived too.

When he saw Long Yifan holding Gu Jin, and Gu Jin looking in pain, he misunderstood and instantly attacked Long Yifan.

Just as Long Yifan was lost in his thoughts, a strong gust of wind came rushing toward him. His instincts kicked in, and he swiftly dodged to the side, still holding Gu Jin tightly in his arms.

Boom!

A small crater formed on the floor where he had been just a moment ago.

Long Yifan’s face darkened as he looked up to see Luo Meng standing there, his fist still glowing with energy.

His eyes were filled with rage and misunderstanding.

"You bastard! What did you do to Master?!" Luo Meng growled, his entire body radiating killing intent.

Gu Jin, still in Long Yifan’s arms, frowned. She was already in pain, and now this idiot wanted to pick a fight?

"Luo Meng... stop," she managed to say, her voice weak but firm.

Luo Meng froze, his fists clenching tightly. "Master, I—"

"He didn’t do anything to me," Gu Jin interrupted. "I am self-awakening an element, and I was in pain. But the moment he touched me, the pain vanished."

Luo Meng blinked in surprise, his anger instantly fading. "What?"

Long Yifan glared at him. "If you’re done attacking me, help me figure this out instead of acting like a brainless fool."

Luo Meng coughed awkwardly and stepped forward.

"Master, if his touch makes the pain disappear, maybe it’s related to the element you’re awakening."

Gu Jin thought for a moment. "That’s possible... but how do we figure out which element it is?"

Luo Meng glanced at Long Yifan, then back at Gu Jin.

"We need to test it. Try letting go of him."

Gu Jin hesitated but nodded. She took a deep breath and pushed herself away from Long Yifan’s arms.

The moment she lost contact, a sharp pain shot through her body again.

It was even worse than before. Gu Jin’s vision blurred, and she almost collapsed.

Long Yifan immediately caught her again. The pain disappeared instantly.

Luo Meng narrowed his eyes.

"Master, I think someone has done black magic on you, maybe they have done it so that they can hug you..."

"Shut up." Long Yifan growled. His darkened face and cold aura were enough to intimidate Luo Meng a bit.

Gu Jin gritted her teeth and felt it was a waste to explain Luo Meng everything.

"I have ten awakening stones with me, try and see if you match energy with either of them." Long Yifan said gently and with a wave of his hand, took out a suitcase containing small crystals.

Luo Meng’s eyes widened when he saw the crystals. All of them were SSS-Rank Awakening Crystals.

Awakening Stones has ranks too.

The higher the rank is, the more it increases the chances of awakening that element. There were also some additional benefits of awakening an element with a higher-rank awakening stone.

Gu Jin looked at the glowing awakening stones in the suitcase.

Each one had a different color, representing a different element. If she could match with one of them, she would finally know which element she was awakening.

She reached out with a slightly trembling hand and touched the first stone, a deep blue one for the water element.

Nothing happened.

She moved to the next, a fiery red stone for fire element. Again, there was no reaction.

One by one, she touched each stone—earth, wind, lightning, darkness, light—but none of them responded to her.

Luo Meng frowned. "Master, why is nothing working? This doesn’t make sense."

Long Yifan’s face was serious. "Try the last one."

Gu Jin hesitated before placing her hand on the final stone. It was a strange golden color, unlike any normal awakening stone.

The moment her fingers touched it, the stone lit up brightly.

A powerful surge of energy burst from the stone, surrounding her body.

Her golden mana ball vibrated violently, and a warm, unknown energy flowed through her veins.

"This is a summoning element." Long Yifan informed.

Gu Jin was surprised.

Long Yifan carefully picked up the glowing golden awakening stone and placed it in Gu Jin’s trembling hands.

"Absorb it," he said softly. "Let the energy merge with your mana ball. This will fully awaken your element."

Gu Jin nodded, though she felt nervous.

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and focused on the golden stone in her hands. Slowly, she channeled her mana toward it, guiding the energy into her body.

The stone shone even brighter, its golden light wrapping around her fingers and traveling up her arms. Warmth spread through her, like sunlight on a cold day.

It was not painful, nor overwhelming—just steady and powerful.

As she absorbed the energy, the stone began to shrink.

Bit by bit, it dissolved into golden particles that flowed into her body, entering her mana space.

Inside her mana space, the golden energy moved toward her mana ball, which was also golden but slightly dull.

The moment the awakening energy touched it, the mana ball trembled and pulsed with light.

Then, something strange happened.

A small, semi-circular golden orb started to form.

It hovered near her mana ball, glowing softly. At first, it was faint, like a mirage, but as more of the golden energy from the stone merged into her, the orb became clearer and more solid.

Outside, Long Yifan and Luo Meng watched with serious expressions.

The golden light surrounding Gu Jin slowly faded, and the awakening stone in her hands completely disappeared.

Luo Meng gulped. "Master... what just happened?"

Long Yifan’s eyes remained fixed on Gu Jin.

Just then, Gu Jin opened her eyes. They shone with a golden hue for a brief moment before returning to normal.

"I... I did it," she whispered. "I have awakened the element."

After saying so, she pulled herself away from Long Yifan,

"Thanks. I will repay you later."

"No need." Long Yifan shook his head, "Just count it as me taking your advantage, after all, I get to hold you."

He flashed her a grin, but Gu Jin knew it wasn’t true.

From the moment, Long Yifan held her he wasn’t happy. It was clear that he was distressed and even though he wanted to enjoy, he was too worried about her condition to even think about the intimate action.

However...

Gu Jin nodded. "Alright."

She didn’t want to be soft-hearted toward Long Yifan. Her past life loved him too much...

So much so...she felt pathetic.

Yet for some reason, she couldn’t pull herself out of those emotions.

It took her 4 years to move on.

4 freaking years to become herself again.

A part of her feels a strange kind of emptiness because of the absence of those emotions, but...now she thinks she is doing great on her own.

There was no place for Long Yifan in her life. And she can’t forget her grudges and the things she suffered for the past 4 years.

If she doesn’t make Long Yifan suffer for the next 8 years, her heart won’t be settled.

That was...how much petty she was.

A part of her though...do remember all the things he had done for her. But that was it.

Luo Meng heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Gu Jin nod.

Gu Jin doesn’t love Long Yifan anymore...and she proved it with that nod.
