The Mighty Mage-Chapter 444: Breaking Point
Chapter 444: Chapter 444: Breaking Point
Long Yifan saw that Gu Jin was in a deep thought and didn’t disturb her. His wifey had her own thoughts.
And from what he can conclude of...maybe both of them were related in their past lives.
The mere thought was enough to make Long Yifan thrilled and satisfied. But was he planning to use it to get Gu Jin’s forgiveness?
Nope.
Long Yifan knew how much Gu Jin suffered, and he knew how dangerous it would be if he rushed things.
Instead, he tried to push a little.
His wifey had called him three times a day. It was a huge improvement. Maybe if he played his card well, she would agree to call him daily.
Then, they will chat daily. From 1 minute to 10 minutes and then 1 hour. Soon, she will realize that she still loves him and will forgive him.
Long Yifan thought of how he would propose to her and they would get married.
’Once we get married, I will go to 10 different places for our honeymoon! Each trip will be of 2 months, 1 month for exploring that place while the other would be for tasting my wife.
What should be the name of the kids? Ah...I will prefer if she is girl.’
"Get out." Gu Jin shouted at Long Yifan angrily.
Long Yifan was stunned and then realized that by mistake he had said his inner thoughts right in front of Gu Jin.
Long Yifan froze like a statue. His eyes widened, and his face turned red as a tomato.
"W-wait, Jin... I didn’t mean to say that out loud..." he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Gu Jin’s face was completely blank, but her eyes? Oh, her eyes were burning with cold fury.
"Out." Her tone was sharp and final, like a judge delivering a death sentence.
"But wifey—"
"OUT!" Gu Jin’s voice rose, her patience clearly hanging by a thread.
Long Yifan gulped. He stood up quickly, his movements stiff.
"Okay, okay... I’m leaving." He shuffled towards the door like a guilty puppy, glancing back at her with pitiful eyes.
"Jin... I was just... thinking about our future—"
SLAM.
The door shut right in his face before he could finish.
Long Yifan stared at the door, blinking slowly.
"Ah... I messed up," he murmured, rubbing the back of his neck.
Inside the room, Gu Jin sat down with a heavy sigh.
"Stupid man! I would never marry him!"
"Gu Jin." Long Yifan knocked on the door, "Please let me in, I can explain everything."
Memories of her pathetic self appeared in Gu Jin’s mind.
How she had longed for Long Yifan...how she wished he would leave Gu Aihan and stay beside her.
Did he love her at that time?
Once that question appeared, Gu Jin suddenly felt as if she had overlooked a lot of things.
If he didn’t love her, then why was he claiming that he loved her all along?
Surely, he wasn’t a saint. He claimed that he never kissed Gu Aihan. But if Gu Aihan had taken the initiative, he wouldn’t have pushed her either!
So, after dating another girl for 3 years, he suddenly felt remorse after knowing her identity?
What if her identity was never exposed?
He would have married Gu Aihan when his military training was over.
Not to mention, if he truly loved her at that time, then his action of standing on Gu Aihan’s side all the time and getting engaged to Gu Aihan was truly disgusting.
He loved her but almost married someone else.
Gu Jin suddenly felt angry. She opened the door, and Long Yifan instantly perked up, but before he could say word, he heard Gu Jin’s cold words,
"I would never marry. Do you understand?"
Long Yifan’s smile froze, and his heart seemed to have shattered into pieces.
"Do you think I would love you? Long Yifan, currently you are nothing more than a second hand good to me. You were engaged to someone else and almost married her.
Even though you said no feelings were involved between you and her, do you think that matters?" Gu Jin’s voice was ice-cold, her eyes glaring at him with disdain.
"Feelings or not, Long Yifan, you stood by her side. You chose her over me. For three years!"
Long Yifan’s face turned pale. He opened his mouth to explain, but Gu Jin didn’t give him a chance.
"I was nothing to you back then," she continued, her tone laced with bitterness.
"Just some... background character in your life. And now, suddenly, after knowing who I really am, you expect me to believe that you loved me all along?"
Her words cut deeper than any sword. Long Yifan’s heart clenched painfully.
"Jin... I..." His voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes pleading.
"Don’t." Gu Jin raised her hand, stopping him.
"Don’t insult me with your excuses. To think you loved me but still married someone else, I am terrified.
What if one day you suddenly came to know that I wasn’t the true daughter of the Gu family and Gu Aihan and decide to marry her?"
She took a step back as if putting distance between them would ease the ache in her heart.
"I’m not the same Gu Jin who begged for your love," she said softly, but the strength in her tone was undeniable.
"I’ve moved on, Long Yifan. And I suggest... you do the same."
Long Yifan’s world crumbled. His eyes, usually so bright and full of confidence, dimmed as he looked at her.
"Jin..." he whispered, his voice filled with pain.
Gu Jin paused,
"As for marriage...even if I have to marry you because of the bond between us, I will never love you. Neither will I let you touch me."
Long Yifan’s heart stopped.
Her words echoed in his mind like thunder.
Never love me... never let me touch her...
Long Yifan felt like someone had punched him in the stomach. His face turned pale, and his lips trembled.
"Jin... don’t say that..." His voice was barely a whisper, full of pain and desperation.
Gu Jin’s face was cold and distant. She looked at him like a stranger, not the man she once loved.
"I mean it, Long Yifan," she said firmly, her eyes sharp.
"You have touched and kissed Gu Aihan. For me, you have become dirty."
Long Yifan’s face turned even paler. Dirty...
That word echoed in his ears, stabbing his heart like a knife.
"I... I never loved Gu Aihan..." Long Yifan whispered, his voice barely audible.
"But you touched her." Gu Jin’s eyes were cold, filled with disgust.
"Even if it was just once, it’s enough. I can’t forget that."
Long Yifan’s hands trembled. His throat felt dry, and his mind was blank.
"Jin...I...I never kissed her! Truly..."
Gu Jin’s eyes narrowed.
"Never kissed her?" she repeated, her tone full of doubt.
Long Yifan nodded quickly, his eyes filled with desperation.
"Yes! I swear, Jin! I never kissed her!" His voice was shaky, but his words were firm.
"Then what?" Gu Jin crossed her arms, her gaze piercing.
"You expect me to believe that you stayed by her side for three years and never once touched her?"
Long Yifan’s throat felt dry. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
"Speak, Long Yifan." Gu Jin’s voice was sharp. "Or do you have nothing to say?"
"I..." Long Yifan looked down, his hands clenched tightly.
"I never kissed her," he repeated softly, "but... she did try."
Gu Jin’s face darkened.
"She tried?"
Long Yifan nodded, his expression full of guilt.
"She... tried to kiss me once, but I... I turned away. Her lips have never touched even an inch of my body, I swear!" His voice was barely above a whisper.
Gu Jin chuckled,
"So what? Do you think that is only thing that made you dirty? Nope. It’s your thought process of loving me but marrying Gu Aihan. That is what makes me disgusted and know how weak your love is."
Long Yifan’s face turned even paler. His lips trembled, and his heart felt like it had been stabbed a thousand times.
Gu Jin’s eyes were cold and sharp like ice.
"You don’t get it, Long Yifan." She took a step back, her expression full of disappointment.
"Even if you never touched her... even if you never kissed her... the fact is, you stayed by her side." Her words were sharp, hitting Long Yifan straight in the heart.
"You let her stand beside you. You let her act like your fiancée. You let the world think that she was your future wife."
Long Yifan’s hands clenched tightly. His nails dug into his palms, but the pain was nothing compared to the ache in his chest.
"I... I was a fool..." he whispered softly.
"Yes, you were." Gu Jin’s voice was cold, but her heart was aching too.
"But it’s too late now, Long Yifan."
Long Yifan’s eyes widened.
"No... Jin, please..." His voice was full of desperation.
