Chapter 10: Chapter 10 – Meet Martin Dane

"There is a nice restaurant close to the hospital. Let’s grab lunch for ourselves, Lizzy, and dad. I also have a friend, and a business partner, Martin Dane. I will like you to meet him," Devin revealed when they sat back in the car.

"If you say so, then I don’t have any objection," Sabrina readily agreed. Lizzy had taken her through the first part of training and meeting new acquaintances and business partners were going to be the norm.

They reached the restaurant and just after placing their order, Devin asked seriously, "I hope Robin didn’t hurt you?"

"No. You got there on time and Robin has never been violent towards me. Not even when he’s angry. He has never hit me before," Sabrina said honestly.

"That is good to know. New York City will be too small to contain us if he ever lays a finger on you. Talk of the devil and is Zayla the woman pregnant for him? Why did you not tell me this?" Devin asked after catching sight of Zayla and Robin walking in.

"I did not think it was necessary but does she know you? I mean..." Sabrina did not finish her sentence when Zayla’s voice was heard,

"Darling, your ex-wife was not faithful to you. You just divorced yesterday and she already has a man."

The siblings stared at each other but the comment was so funny, they laughed as Robin continued to explain, "No, she doesn’t. I only saw her at the time you came crying that you saw her with Robin after telling her how you felt about him."

"It’s good she doesn’t know you as my brother," Sabrina pressed her lips together and spoke. She could not deny that being with Devin boosted her confidence very fast and helped her to overcome the pains of the divorce.

"Martin Dane his here." A tall, elegant man walked in and ambled to their table. Seeing Sabrina, his eyes lit as he extended his hand to her. Thinking that he was asking for a hand shake, Sabrina extended her hand as well, only to receive a kiss at the back of it. She smiled from embarrassment.

"Meet my kid sister, Sabrina," Devin smiled and spoke before shaking hands with Martin.

"She’s very beautiful," Martin remarked, his eyes glued on Sabrina.

"Thank you," Sabrina smiled shyly and responded. Martin looked around and frowned at seeing just a jar of orange juice and two bottles of water. Sabrina requested for the orange juice because it helped to ease the strange taste in her mouth.

"Why are you two not eating already?" Martin asked whiles beckoning the waiter over.

"We ordered take outs but it might take longer because of my father’s special diet," Devin explained. Their father was growing old and due to how careless he got after losing his wife, he began to face health challenges. Now, there are so many restrictions on his diet.

The next moment, a voice distracted them. "Darling, that woman took the villa I wanted and you agreed because you saw her as a good wife. This shows she never was and you should take back the villa."

"I should address this," Robin said, his face poker.

"No, let me please," Sabrina said and turned to the direction of the voice. She spoke with elegance and style, in contrast to Zayla’s childishness. "Zayla, if you have a problem with me, then let’s address it right here. I hate for my image to be tarnished. That villa is mine and even though I don’t need it, I will not give it to you."

Martin frowned a little, asking, "Is the woman your rival?" He pretending not to know her story.

"The man is my ex-husband," Sabrina said truthfully. Martin smiled and acknowledged,

"A billionaire."

"With bad character," Sabrina concluded for him. But the way she said it, made both men smile as Martin acknowledged,

"I like the way you put it."

Before Sabrina spoke, Zayla’s voice rang again. "But she was never a good wife. See how she has a man and keeps flirting with the other. You just divorced yesterday so please don’t say that she moved on. These men have been in her life and you were a fool to not notice."

Sabrina was about to speak when Devin said, "It’s my turn." He turned around and addressed the uncouth woman.

"Little woman, I hate for people to have wrong notions about my woman. I have loved Sabrina all my life yet she chose that jerk. I’m just glad her eyes opened after three years and she gave me a chance. As for the villa, just like she said. I can give her a better one but if she does not want to give it to you, I won’t force her."

’Little woman?’ Zayla discerned it was not figurative but rather an insult. She was a standard model size so she was not little. The man was addressing her as nothing. Her eyes reddened and was also teary, as she gazed a Robin pleadingly for help. The waiter arrived with their packed lunch so Robin paid and stood up, "Let’s go."

"Robin, won’t you say anything? He just insulted me, your...."

Robin waited for her to complete the sentence but it did not seem to be happening. He had not proposed yet. Why? He did not know. Zayla looked like a lost child. "I mean, I’m carrying your child, what if a get a miscarriage from worry?" She hit on his weakness.

Robin was thinking about what Devin had said, understanding that Sabrina never cheated on him. It was perhaps the story of unrequited love which was now being requited, thanks to him for letting Sabrina go. His gaze softened as he stared at Zayla and said,

"You won’t have a miscarriage, Zayla. Let’s go. I will buy you a new villa."

Zayla’s eyes were cloudy and liquid filled them. Robin had already grabbed her hand and was dragging her helpless form out of the restaurant. She did not want a new villa but how could she explain it to Robin?
