The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse-Chapter 665 - 658 Zombie Transformation
Chapter 665: Chapter 658 Zombie Transformation
Although the explosion took place within a vertical shaft, the depth classified this nuclear detonation as an enclosed underground nuclear explosion. After the explosion, a cavity would form around the blast site, and shockwaves, compression waves, and seismic waves would be transmitted to the surrounding soil medium.
Yang Yi and the others were at a distance from both epicenters which was sufficient to ensure their safety, as the radioactive materials from an enclosed nuclear explosion would be buried deep underground and would not spew out too much.
But the strong tremors were still enough to throw Yang Yi and his companions into the air. Although not very high, it was enough to make him lose his balance.
Yang Yi fell to the ground, then he rolled over to lie on his back, looking up at the Serpent People’s mothership that obscured the sky.
It didn’t seem any different, so did the well cap hit the mothership or not?
Yang Yi frantically searched, his gaze moving to the direction where the nuclear bombs had been placed, and then along that line into the sky.
The mothership was not black, but due to angles and lighting, the whole mothership appeared dark, and then, Yang Yi finally saw the Mars falling from the mothership.
One couldn’t see the holes with the naked eye, but it was apparent that the fire was abnormal. After traveling a great distance, the glow turned into Mars falling from the sky, then disappearing mid-air.
Two nuclear bombs, two tanks, but why was there only one point of damage?
Yang Yi sat up, his head still feeling a bit dizzy, but as he stood up, the intense discomfort quickly faded, replaced by an overwhelming sense of euphoria.
Regardless of whether they could bring down the Serpent People’s mothership, just being able to hit it was enough to bring joy.
"We did it... Hey, we did it!"
Yang Yi clenched his fists, and only when he saw another Mars drop from the mothership did he finally leap up, thrusting his fist passionately into the air.
"Die, Serpent People!"
Yang Yi screamed with all his might.
As a young man who had to be restrained and steady, Yang Yi seldom had the chance to let loose like this, but now it didn’t matter because he didn’t think he’d be able to leave alive.
With the Serpent People’s mothership covering such a vast area, there seemed no way to escape.
Yang Yi first hugged Kate, then he embraced Xiao Ran, after that, he hugged Zhang Yong, and finally celebrated with a high-five with Anton.
It was then that the Serpent People’s mothership finally reacted.
Fleets of tiny-looking flying vessels emerged from the edge of the mothership. These vessels were much smaller than the ones specifically used to deploy monsters and looked much more advanced, with each one emitting a faint blue light from its tail.
"Would you say those are Hall Thrusters?"
With his left hand holding Kate’s and his right hand holding Xiao Ran’s, Yang Yi asked a seemingly nonsensical question.
No one answered his question, but Yang Yi was still happy because now he was holding hands with Kate and Xiao Ran. If it weren’t for the Serpent People’s arrival, if their mothership hadn’t come, making everyone think they were going to die, he would never have had the chance to hold Xiao Ran’s hand.
The chance to hold the hands of two women at the same time was even more impossible.
Xiao Ran was still looking up at the sky, then suddenly she said, "Shouldn’t we be retreating now?"
"What the hell is a Hall Thruster?"
It had been a long while before Zhang Yong suddenly came to his senses and blurted out Yang Yi’s words in a nonsensical fashion, which was why Yang Yi didn’t bother with him. He just asked with a hint of surprise, "Retreat? Where to?"
Xiao Ran took out her hand and then frowned, "I thought we would be dead in an instant, but several minutes have passed, and we’re fine. Since we’re not dead, what are we waiting for? Why not run?"
That made sense.
Although no one believed they could survive, and had not even thought about escaping, the fact was, they were still alive and completely unharmed.
Between the ground and the Mother Ship, there were dozens of spaceships, and at that moment, several gigantic doors opened on the Mother Ship, and the ships were entering one after another.
It seemed that Yang Yi and his group had been forgotten, or were ignored by the Serpent People.
Zhang Yong whispered again, "What is a Hall Thruster? You still haven’t explained, don’t leave me hanging, just tell me."
Yang Yi swallowed, then turned to Grewatov and said, "Hey, why aren’t we dead yet?"
Grewatov replied gravely, "I’m not one of the Serpent People, how would I know why we’re not dead yet. Perhaps the Serpent People don’t think it’s worth it to target us specifically, or maybe... we are definitely going to die?"
Yang Yi was puzzled, but Tarta said, "It’s normal, very normal. Any reaction from the Serpent People is to be expected. They came to exterminate all of mankind. As for a few people like us, do you think the Serpent People would send a special force to wipe us out? I don’t think so. When I want to kill an anthill, I certainly wouldn’t pay any special attention to a few ants inside it."
Finally, these people realized something. Even though they had attacked the Mother Ship with a nuclear bomb, to the Serpent People, they were still nothing more than a few ants in a mound.
In the view of the Serpent People, their focus wouldn’t be on the few people under the spaceship. With the strength of the Serpent People, their targets for eradication were measured in continents.
So, there was no use waiting anymore. Let’s go. Perhaps they still couldn’t escape the Serpent People’s attack range, but at least they had to try and run.
"We retreat, no, we leave this place."
It seemed they didn’t need to sneak away at all; they could just walk out openly.
Yang Yi couldn’t believe he was enjoying the treatment of being completely ignored. However, had he stayed in Shenzhou until now, he certainly wouldn’t be as surprised as he was now.
That’s because the Serpent People’s Mother Ship had always disregarded those scattered humans. Not because they couldn’t see them, but simply because they didn’t care.
"I think we should leave on foot. I’m worried that the Serpent People might attack cars. Um, Larry..."
Yang Yi saw Larry’s corpse, and looking around, everywhere there were people who had died silently, just like Larry.
The Serpent People’s attack had come before the nuclear explosion, meaning Yang Yi had been paranoid for nothing. He didn’t need to think about killing the Sanitation Workers or any plots and tricks because the Serpent People hadn’t intended to spare the Sanitation Workers at all.
After a quick glance, Yang Yi asserted, "The Serpent People didn’t release a virus; they used an even faster method to instantly kill those who had been vaccinated in advance. We should take two bodies with us to analyze the cause of death. No, forget it, it’s not necessary."
Yang Yi beckoned with his hand and said, "We need to gather enough supplies for evacuation before we leave. Hurry, go collect stuff."
At that moment, Grewatov said, "I don’t know if these corpses will turn into zombies. If they will, it’ll be very soon."
Zhang Yong suddenly said, "Stop saying ’maybe.’ It’s definitely going to happen. Look, isn’t that corpse moving?"
