The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse-Chapter 688 - 681: Capture
Chapter 688: Chapter 681: Capture
Make the decision and move on, no dilly-dallying.
None of that "you go, I’ll stay" or "I’ll stay, you go" nonsense would ever happen with Gao Yuan and his crew. Not a single person present would do such a foolish thing.
The fight had come to such a desperate point; mankind was on the brink of extinction. Who would even be in the mood to nobly stay behind in danger while letting others escape first? To say more is just a waste of time.
Where on this Earth is safe anymore? One misstep is all it would take for total annihilation, and if we’re to die, it wouldn’t be but a few days difference.
It’s that simple. Everyone should just do what they need to do; less talk and more action. As long as the job gets done, that’s all that matters.
Gao Yuan believed that with Ram and Yang Yi there, they would do their best as long as there was the slightest possibility.
Of course, if the Serpent People decided to strike and wipe out everyone below, then no one could do anything about it. It would just mean that the human race had reached its end.
Yang Yi was the first to leave, as his was the most important and most dangerous test,
Carrying the Revelation with him, he sought the valuable knowledge that he had discovered, and it was now his responsibility to remove it from here, coming full circle on his destiny.
Yang Yi successfully left with the Revelation; the Serpent People didn’t intervene, and there were no attacks.
So Satan, with the Ark of the Covenant and including Ram and Nate inside, departed as well.
Since Nate was also in the Ark, the Angels, of course, would leave together— and here, the number of Angels was the greatest.
In the end, only Spark Squad and the Xinghe they were protecting remained.
Xinghe remained important— and the most important, for that matter— because no one was confident in operating the Celestial’s spacecraft. Maybe the leader of the Health Faction considered the Eternals Faction the greatest enemy, but that didn’t mean humans could handle a spacecraft far beyond their understanding.
So of course Xinghe was important, but whether she could play her part depended on how the Serpent People would react.
"It’s our turn to move."
Gao Yuan stayed outside of 59 Modified, giving orders to his troops that were now exclusively his own.
"Everyone sit on the roof of 59 Modified; let’s set off like that."
Like refugees perched on the roofs of their vehicles, or infantry sitting atop tanks, the 59 Modified began to move and the spacecraft in the sky followed in motion.
Gao Yuan was now, of course, fully dressed, albeit in just a pair of trousers and a jacket— but at least he no longer felt embarrassed.
This was no longer a situation fraught with peril on all sides, but rather one where mighty forces bore down upon them. With the Serpent People looming ominously up close in the sky, it was unclear what they intended to do.
Now, there were only two Mecha left, and they walked alongside the 59 Modified. As the vehicle’s speed gradually increased, the Mecha also began to run, but once they left the desert and reached ground firm enough, wheels would appear on the feet of the Mecha, and they would skate across the earth like on rollerblades.
Their speed was around sixty kilometers per hour— not too fast, but it felt like lightning speeding across off-road terrain, and the wide body of 59 Modified reduced the jolting. However, sitting on the roof was still uncomfortable and quite dangerous.
The whooshing of the wind meant you had to raise your voice to talk, so Yu Shunzhou shouted out, "King Kong, why didn’t you leave with your brother?"
Li Jingang, who had agreed to mischievously accompany Li Jinfang, looked utterly exhausted and despondent. He glanced at Yu Shunzhou and replied, "I’m with Spark Squad. Where would I go?"
Yu Shunzhou made a punching gesture and shouted at Li Jingang, "So did you guys fight the zombies?"
Li Jingang was hit where it hurt.
The Li brothers did indeed plan to make a stand, to go crazy with battle, but no one would give them the chance.
When Gao Yuan charged forward, only the mechas could barely keep up; it was as impossible for the others to follow as it was for a person to catch up with a speeding car on foot.
Gao Yuan and the mechas surged forward, the tanks followed, and then the battle group with the zombies started to move in one direction, so what Li Jingang and his brother ended up doing was charging over, then having to continue running just when they were about to come into contact with the zombies.
By the time Gao Yuan stopped, Li Jingang was able to catch up with him, but the zombies were already gone.
However, Yu Shunzhou wasn’t trying to mock Li Jingang because if Li Jingang couldn’t keep up, neither could he and Song Qian, and certainly not Nie Erlong. freewёbnoνel.com
They had hoped to wave their flag and have a glorious battle, but as it turned out, the flag bearers were left behind.
Li Jingang gave Yu Shunzhou a gloomy look, and then Yu Shunzhou wisely shut his mouth.
But Yu Shunzhou really couldn’t keep his mouth shut, so he simply lay down, looking at the spaceship in the sky. After a jolt from the improved Type 59 going over a dirt mound sent Yu Shunzhou bouncing up, he yelled in annoyance, "Serpent People, I just..."
Yu Shunzhou definitely wanted to curse out loud, but he didn’t manage to. Instead, his mouth hung open as if he had turned into a carved wooden statue.
Everyone in the vehicle seemed to freeze instantly, maintaining their previous actions and postures, their entire bodies becoming rigid. If it weren’t for the bumps of the improved Type 59 causing them to move slightly, the people on the roof would have looked as though they were dead or had turned into statues.
Gao Yuan noticed something was wrong, but before he could ask, he saw two mechas lose balance almost simultaneously and then almost simultaneously fall to the ground.
Gao Yuan’s thinking was still clear. He tried to move his limbs and found that when he did, it was like in slow motion. He didn’t feel any resistance, yet his limbs moved extremely slowly.
It was as if his mind and body had separated, as though his brain had lost control over his body. Forget making movements; even breathing seemed like it wouldn’t continue.
Gao Yuan was affected, but clearly, everyone else was completely immobile, including Luo Xingyu inside the mecha. However, he could still move, though very slowly.
"Xing... he!"
Gao Yuan tried to shout, but his cry was also very slow, while the speed of the improved Type 59 remained unchanged. However, the improved Type 59, which had been constantly adjusting direction, had now lost that ability and continued straight in one direction.
Luckily, the speed of the improved Type 59 was slowing down.
Xinghe emerged; she jumped out of the hatch, completely unaffected by the Serpent People, moving as freely as ever.
When the Serpent People finally made a move, Xinghe had also left the improved Type 59, standing on the still-moving roof. Gao Yuan immediately felt his body regain freedom, but the others still appeared petrified.
The improved Type 59 began to stop, and Xinghe said in a deep voice, "The Serpent People are coming. They release microwaves. Those exposed to the radiation will lose control over their bodies, resulting in a temporary paralysis of the nervous system. They will be unable to breathe or move, until they die."
Gao Yuan wanted to speak, and two seconds after he had the thought, his mouth finally regained control abruptly, then he urgently asked, "What about them?"
Xinghe replied indifferently, "Take out that attacking spaceship."
