Chapter 76: A crack in his feelings

They say love blinds a man. Literally.

So, when a man is in love, he often doesn’t see anything else besides the smile and tears of his lover and that’s all he cares about.

He doesn’t see the bad things their lover does. They might see but are very tolerant and even learn to live with it.

Their lover might be unreasonable but because he loves them so much, he bears with all of it.

And the stronger his love becomes, the blinder he gets to the point he would even try to cover up murder for his lover.

He doesn’t try to take a step back to see the light of what his lover does. If it’s wrong or right. None of that matters. What matters is the comfort and happiness of his love.

Nothing else matters.

What I am trying to say is if that man who was so deeply in love that he was so blind to his lover’s wrongdoing decides to take a step back and take a closer look at what their lover is doing... They will start to see their wrongdoing and start wondering why he had loved them to be with.

And the more steps he takes back, the brighter everything becomes, and the scale in his eyes falls. He sees his lover for who they really are and the sins they have committed.

The same goes for when that man starts to get interested in another.

Let’s use my case as an example.

Jin-Yeok loved Su-Yeon so much that he would do anything for her. He would even kill for her and yet she had never done anything for him.

But then he met someone else, he met me, Jo-Pil and he began to see different things and different lights.

He began to notice Su-Yeon’s abnormal demands and wishes. How she talked to him and how she ’showed’ her feelings.

Subconsciously, he began to compare the both of us. He got fed up, even though it had only been a few days of knowing me.

’If it were Jo-Pil, what would he say?’ he would think. ’If it were Jo-Pil, I’m sure he would smile so broadly and not complain.’ these sorts of thoughts kept coming. ’If it were Jo-Pil, he would eat as much as he can and not worry about gaining weight.’

Little things like this got his interest in me increasing and his feelings for Su-Yeon quickly declining.

Su-Yeon had an obnoxious and overbearing character which steamed as a result of how Jin-Yeok always pampered her. He elevated her so high that she believed everything and everyone else was beneath her.

She believed there would be no one to take her place... Until Jin-Yeok came up to her and told her he had bought an Omega with a high breeding rate and he would use that Omega to get a child so she didn’t need to worry about her future.

Of course, it sounded like it was a good thing. It was just a breeder. And if she could get the child of that breeder, raise it as her own, and marry Jin-Yeok, her life would be perfect forever.

But then little thoughts started seeping into her mind, feeding her insecurities and doubts. She had never doubted Jin-Yeok before but she was suddenly feeling like things weren’t as simple as he said.

In any case, my point is that all of these changes happened far too quickly. And if it’s as I guessed then Jin-Yeok’s feelings might have had a crack all along.

And by a crack, I mean, it wasn’t authentic. And it was just looking for a replacement. Something that would feel more real, more authentic, and more doable. Thus, the feelings with a crack shattered completely before Jin-Yeok even knew it, and what replaced it was a bud that had just germinated from the soil of his heart.

I should probably reduce the amount of sunlight and water I expose that bud to.

Jin-Yeok might not understand why he suddenly lost feelings for Su-Yeon but he might think of it as a relief and would keep Su-Yeon with him for a while longer, wondering if maybe the feelings would come back as quickly as they disappeared.

If things go the way I imagined then I don’t think that’s going to happen. His feelings will never come back and Su-Yeon would start being a thorn in his flesh, leading him to want to kill her because she would definitely start scheming against me, who took her lover from her.

I gulped.

If Su-Yeon was out of the picture early on then who would end up dying during Jin-Yeok’s madness?

Just thinking about it made me sweat.

’I have to stop him from taking that drug. When will he fully trust me? Only when he trusts me fully can he tell me stuff. And then I can bring up the topic of him possibly going mad with the drug.’

This was driving me insane.

"Chew slowly," Jin-Yeok said, brushing the corner of my lips with his gloved thumb and I nodded.

My cheeks were full but I didn’t stop and kept stuffing my mouth. I was stress eating.

This novel was stressing the hell out of me, I tell ya.

"Master," I called as I gulped down completely, but he suddenly handed me water and I drank it. "Thank you," I said but that was not what I wanted. "Master," I called again but then he said,

"Do you want to order dessert now?"

Why did it seem like he was intentionally interrupting me? Did he know what I was going to say?

"I’m fine, but first..."

"Do you want seconds?" He asked and I furrowed my eyebrows. I had just finished what was on the table and Jin-Yeok ate only a little. So, did he want me to explode or something? He was too much.

I shook my head and asked right away to prevent him from interrupting me further.

"Master, was that your girlfriend?" I asked and he paused. His smile seemed to be frozen and he did not say anything.

As I thought, he knew what I was going to ask and was preventing me from saying anything because he didn’t want to answer.

"I dare to assume that she is," I said. "She said all those things earlier, so how could I not?"

"Do not mind her words." He said but how could I not?

That was the expression I displayed but I honestly didn’t mind them. She was just a character in a novel whose actions were very predictable. I didn’t need to worry about her.

What I was more worried about was that Jin-Yeok tore away from his feelings far too quickly.

Everything was happening so fast and I was getting worried.

"I don’t mind them, but..." I raised my gaze and looked him in the eye. "I feel like this shouldn’t happen. You... Should make up with her." I said. "If you two don’t patch things up, I’ll feel guilty for being the reason this happened. So please, make up with your girlfriend."
