Chapter 77: What are you honestly worried about?

Jin-Yeok stared into my eyes after my words, searching for any hesitation but all he saw were firm determination with a hint of guilt.

How’s that? I’m a great actor, right? I can act with my eyes.

"I understand," he said, and I sighed, feeling he would try to make amends, but then he said. "But I assure you, you won’t be the reason if we don’t make amends."

Huh? Then who was?

"For her to doubt me and be so unreasonable, it means she had no plans on looking at the truth. She’ll only believe what she wants to believe, and if that’s how she’s going to be, then..." He sighed.

Wait, that’s all the more reason to blame me for your breakup. I’m the reason she’s being unreasonable.

Seriously, can’t you two just make up?

"Does it bother you?" He asked and I was about to say yes when he asked the rest part of his question. "Does it bother you that I have a girlfriend but still decided to choose you as the one who would bear my child?"

Okay, I did not expect him to ask a question in that direction.

"It doesn’t." I answered. "There are many people out there who would wish they could be able to carry their family line strongly with the help of an Omega like me. Someone with a high breeding rate. And I’m sure you never planned to get involved with me past the point of having me carry your child. But..." I looked up at him. "It seems you’re not going into that route."

"You’re right. Alphas should be able to do anything to get what they want, even if it means hurting their loved one a little bit."

You call that a little bit? You literally told her off and indirectly called her an unreasonable nuisance.

"I did only plan to have you bear my child and be done with you but along the way, I changed my mind." He said and started stirring the lemon water in front of him. "I can’t force things and I will certainly not force it. You’re..." He looked up at me and confessed. "Too precious at this point."

My eyes gradually increased. This man... Did he know what he was saying?

I was precious? What part of me was precious?

"I didn’t expect you would be this kind of person," he said. "I planned to scare you off at the beginning so you wouldn’t have any hopes in the beginning. I planned to do as I pleased and leave but the look in your eyes and the words of intelligence that spill each time you open your mouth changed my mind. The thing I like about you most is the way you convey honesty." He laughed softly as if he had heard a joke and then leaned his head down, dropping his cheek on his palm as he gazed at me. "You have such a fine way with words, Jo-Pil."

And I don’t see how that makes me precious. He just explained to me why he was infatuated with me but not how I was the precious existence he just spoke about.

He’s making me confused.

"Still," I said. "It doesn’t change that you just coldly told off your girlfriend. You saying these words only make it seem like I’m the reason you did that. You’ve found something precious, and thus you don’t need to keep the old treasure you used to find precious. That’s how I interpret your actions, master. So, is it really not my fault?"

I stared deep into his eyes and he stared back at mine. He liked the way I used my words to the point that he was enamored from time to time, unable to understand why he was always falling for my non-fattery remarks.

"Jo-Pil," he called my name and my spine tingled. Why was he doing that here?

He had a way of calling my name that sounded so pleasant and it got me excited.

I looked around, as if scared that someone else heard it but thankfully, no one was paying attention to us.

Jin-Yeok watched me and laughed.

"What are you honestly worried about?" He asked. "I know the fact that I have a girlfriend doesn’t concern you and it most certainly shouldn’t concern you if I break up with her, so why do you want us to make amends?"

"I already told you, master. It makes everything seem like I’m the reason for your fallout. I can’t sleep at night knowing there’s a girl gnashing her teeth in tears because I ’snatched’ her boyfriend." I explained.

"So, you think you ’snatched’ me from her?" He asked.

Look at this guy; I knew he’d emphasize on that. This was no time to be teasing.

"That’s not the point." I said. "That’s her point of view. I did no such thing. My masters chose to save me from my hell and I chose to serve my masters in any way I can. So I didn’t do such a thing. But still, she won’t see it from that perspective."

"You’re right. She’ll look for someone to blame but she won’t look at what she did for things to get to where they are now." Jin-Yeok said and I raised my head.

What she did? What did she do? I don’t remember such a thing happening in the novel.

Wait, did he forgive her in the novel because he was still blinded by his love for her? I wondered.

That made sense. So, if he had already started to see clearly and witnessed what she did then he wouldn’t forgive her blindly like he did in the novel.

"Is her sin so grave that you decided to treat her that way?" I asked and Jin-Yeok’s gaze slightly turned cold.

He glanced away from me and said,

"That’s for me to judge."

I gulped. I have no idea what she did and so I have no idea to appeal.

In that case, the reason he got so cold was because she did something that opened his eyes more than the level it was at after meeting me.

So... It wasn’t my fault then.

"In that case," I smiled. "Shall we order dessert?"

No need to dwell on something that had nothing to do with me. Let’s just eat some dessert and go home.
