Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 299: The Hole(s)
Chapter 299: The Hole(s)
I was getting a bit tired of being looked at like I was crazy. Then again, if the label fit, who was I to question it?
"That’s not how the song goes," announced Evelyn, her right eye twitching as she stared me down.
"Yes, it does," I replied, wrinkling my nose.
"No, it really isn’t," she said, rolling her eyes. "Can’t go over it, can’t go under it, have to go through it."
"Are you crazy?" I demanded, my eyes going wide. "Who in their right mind would look at that wall and think you can go through it! Clearly, you go under it."
"Not according to the song," snapped Evelyn, clearly unable to give up this point.
"Fine," I sighed. This wasn’t the hill I was going to die on. If Evelyn wanted people to go through the wall... then so be it. "But I bet my version was the one he was singing to himself."
"What makes you think he was trying to get to the wall?" asked Jonas, his eyes narrowing on me as if he was trying to catch me with a lie. "I thought he wasn’t able to speak."
"He wasn’t," I sighed. "It was the giant hole behind the bush that clued me into his plan. I followed Blue’s clues, and that was the answer I got."
"What?" demanded the only guy on my team to not have spoken yet.
"Never mind," I sighed. I think I needed to take a page from Salvatore’s book and just keep my mouth shut from now on.
"I don’t see a hole," growled Jonas as he started to stalk toward me. Tank hunched down, his deep snarl the only warning that Jonas was going to get before death. However, the stupid male clearly didn’t realize it. His steps didn’t so much as falter as he kept bearing down on me.
Not wanting to deal with his tantrum, I turned around and walked over to the bush. Pushing past the massive thorns of the raspberry bush, I pulled some of the branches apart, showing an obviously large hole to the outside world.
In fact, the hole was so big, that I was having a really hard time understanding just why no one else was able to see it.
"Tank could probably get through that hole, but if you don’t believe me, feel free to stick your head in it yourself." There was no way I was risking my neck by sticking it in holes that it didn’t belong in.
And if Jonas managed to lose that head... well, I might shed a tear or two.
"How did you know this was here?" demanded Jonas just as two other teams ran over to our section of the wall.
"Lucy!" called out Eric, putting on extra speed until he was standing beside me. "Are you okay? I heard that something happened."
"It was all very boring," I assured him with a pat on the arm. "Tank had the poor guy pinned, and he was so scared he couldn’t utter a single sound. I was kind of hoping for something a bit more... fun."
"There is a giant hole in the wall, compromising every aspect of our Sanctuary, and you are complaining that it wasn’t fun enough?" sputtered Jonas, his face once again going bright red as he tried to find the words. "That’s it. I have reason to suspect that you are the one who created the hole in an attempt to kill everyone here." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
The three teams of people looked at me for a second before stepping back, like I was some sort of threat to them. "That doesn’t make any sense whatsoever," grunted Eric, wrapping his arms around me. "We just came here yesterday; how would she have time to create a hole?"
Jonas waved his hand in the air like he had already figured out all the secrets of the universe, and I was to be blamed for all of them. "If that is the case, then I suppose you won’t need me to point out the other holes?" I said, my voice devoid of any emotion.
Yes, I was here for a reason, but I really didn’t care enough about the MC members who had managed to fall into this trap. I wasn’t going to put myself at risk for them, no matter what the other guys thought.
"Other holes?" whispered Miles as he looked back and forth between Evelyn and the other guys in our unit. "Just how many holes are we talking about?"
"Did you really think this was the only one?" I smirked at Jonas. "Tank had found another six of varying sizes in just our section alone. I wonder how many there might be in the other sections that no one has managed to find? Or am I to be blamed for over a hundred holes?"
Crossing my arms in front of me, I waited for Jonas to reply. "You lie," grunted the human after a moment. "There is no way that there are that many holes that haven’t been discovered."
"Well, the only way to find out for sure is to go check," I invited them.
Did I make the hole that I had found? Nope. I wasn’t that bored.
Did I make over 250 other holes just to be a bitch? Well, I did have a certain reputation to uphold.

Chang Xuefeng bit the inside of his lip as he stared down the guard at the gate. This man was standing between him and his Wish Girl, and that was not a place he wanted to be. Whether he knew it or not.
"Name, power, rank, occupation," sighed the man as he looked down at his clipboard. It was giving Chang Xuefeng flashbacks of the last settlement that he and Hattie had entered, and that hadn’t ended well for anyone.
"Chang Xuefeng, death, the highest, death," grunted Chang Xuefeng. "I’ll be happy to give you a demonstration, but I don’t think that you would enjoy it."
Looking up, the guard sneered at him. "Fighting power user, tier 4, probably worked in construction," he said at last, writing something down on the paper in front of him. "You fighting types always like to think that you are some type of reincarnation of the Grim Reaper when you can barely punch your way through cardboard."
