Chapter 199: Wedding Day (3)

Hannah and Martha stared at Abigail. They waited for her to answer, but she seemed silent, adding to their curiosity. They both exchange glances in confusion.

After a few moments of waiting, Hannah asked again, "Abigail, are we in Solhaven? Or in another city?"

Abigail slightly clenched her hands. She was puzzled about whether to answer honestly about this house’s location in the middle of the city or pretend she didn’t know its location.

"Is this the house you and Sawyer will live in happily ever after, or is this just a place where you will get married?" Martha asked, adding pressure on Abigail.

’Geez, Sawyer Jones! Why don’t you just be honest with them? They love you so much they won’t reveal your secret to anyone else if you ask them to, right? You know, put some trust in them?’ She silently vented her frustration to Sawyer in her mind.

She wishes Sawyer would come to rescue her while trying to distract them. But after a few moments of trying to distract them, these two ladies still wait for her to reveal the location of this place.

Abigail smiled as she observed Grandma Martha and her mother-in-law’s happiness. Unable to resist their pleading gazes, she decided to be honest with them. She knew Sawyer couldn’t be mad at her, and she vividly remembered Him allowing her to help him fix his relationship with his parents.

"Auntie, Grandma, you already know that Sawyer doesn’t want his residence to be known by some people in his family, right?"

They nodded in unison, knowing how secret Sawyer was about his life. They knew he had a house near the beach, but the worker said he traveled to another city every time they came there. Over time, they no longer visited him, knowing he might be staying elsewhere.

She has no choice but to tell them the truth: "Aunty, Grandma, I will tell you this place’s location. But I hope no one knows about it, including Grandpa or Uncle Walter." She smiles apologetically at them, waiting for their confirmation.

"Yes, I promise!" Martha nodded in agreement.

"I have no intention of becoming my son’s enemy. I will definitely keep it a secret—even from his father. I won’t tell, I promise you..." Hannah also makes her vow. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

In relief, Abigail looks at them in return before saying, "Sawyer and I stay in this house, and we will also stay in this place in the future."

"I knew it..." Marha smiles widely. "It’s impossible Sawyer will disclose his residence to us."

"Mother, please let Abigail finish her words," Hannah chuckled, looking at how happy her mother-in-law was now. Martha closed her mouth while gesturing to Abigail to continue.

"This house is actually not outside the city; it’s in the Garden Hill Complex," Abigail explained. She smiled when she noticed Hannah and Martha’s shocked expressions. They immediately stood up and hurried to the window to look outside. After a few moments, they returned and joined her in the seating area, doubt flashing in their eyes.

"Abigail, are you sure this house is in the middle of the city? Why don’t I see any high-rise buildings?" asked Martha, confused.

"Yes, I agree with you mother. I’m also not convinced this is in the Garden Hill Complex..." Hannah chimed in, looking at Abigail curiously.

Abigail smiled at them before explaining patiently, "Grandma, Aunty, this place is in the city’s heart. You can’t see the buildings in the distance because of the towering trees surrounding this house, and we are currently on the second floor. If you were on the third or fourth floor, you could see the city skyline in the distance."

Suddenly, Martha laughed joyfully. She was thrilled to learn that Abigail’s house was just a forty-minute drive away from her house. She could come here every time she missed Abigail.

"Abigail, I’m so glad you told us you and Sawyer will live here. And if Sawyer doesn’t take you to visit us next time, I will come to visit you," Martha said, her smile widening as she learned the location of Sawyer’s house.

Hearing her mother-in-law’s words, Hannah’s eyes lit up. She couldn’t let this opportunity slip away.

"Daughter-in-law..." When Hannah caught Abigail’s attention, she continued, "I will also come here to visit you. I hope you don’t mind." She expressed her excitement and happiness.

Hannah no longer cared if Sawyer ignored her in the future; now, she had Abigail on her side.

...

Later, Abigail was stunned when Hannah abruptly stood from her seat.

"Daughter-in-law, because you will be part of our family, I must give you a gift. Wait a moment..." Hannah smiled mysteriously. She takes her bag from the corner of the study table.

A few moments later, Hannah returned with a small purse-sized box and handed it to Abigail.

Though confused, Abigail accepted the box. Looking at Hannah, she asked, "W-What is this, Aunty?"

Instead of answering Abigail’s question, Hannah gazed at her gently and said, "Abigail, you will soon marry my son. I hope you can call me ’Mom,’ like Sawyer does. Can you do that, dear?"

Abigail was taken aback. This wasn’t the first time Hannah had asked her to call her "Mom." Previously, she had been too shy to agree and had called her Aunty instead.

However, seeing Hannah’s pleading eyes and remembering how kind this woman had been to her despite this being the first time they met warmed Abigail’s heart. Hannah’s kindness and motherly love reminded Abigail of her mother, whom she missed dearly. In a way, Hannah filled the void left by her mother’s absence.

Slowly shaking her head with a smile, Abigail finally mustered the courage to say, "Mom..." She called out shyly, lowering her gaze, too shy to meet Hannah’s beautiful gaze.

Hannah couldn’t hide her happiness after hearing Abigail call her "Mom," her eyes blurred as she held back happy tears. This was one of her dreams: to have a daughter-in-law.

"Thank you, Abigail. Alright, hurry up and open the gift before the ceremony begins," Hannah urged Abigail to open the box.

Abigail was stunned beyond words.
