I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 129 – A Meteor Named Sofia
Chapter 129: Chapter 129 – A Meteor Named Sofia
The next morning, Sylvia woke from her unnecessary sleep a habit she maintained more out of nostalgia than need. Morning sunlight streamed through the glass windows of the castle, casting a silver sheen on the polished stone floor. Without saying a word, she slipped into her favorite black dress and stepped out of her room, heading toward the throne room at the heart of her new castle a grand structure built in silence by thousands of worker zombies as a tribute from Zark.
Inside the throne room, Zark was already waiting. The Tyrant stood tall in his battle suit, exuding an air both proud and majestic. As Sylvia sat on her throne, Zark bowed deeply, holding a rolled-up scroll in his hand.
"My Queen," he greeted firmly. "A report has arrived from the scout zombies deployed outside. It’s still a preliminary summary, but important enough to share."
Sylvia gave a slight nod. "Report."
Zark unrolled the scroll and began to read in his deep voice.
"Several portals continue to appear randomly across different locations, but so far, no humans have dared to enter them. Our undead scouts tried entering just as expected, most of them lead to minor worlds. Fragments of reality, not full-fledged realms like the one you explored before."
Sylvia leaned back slightly, eyes narrowing with interest, though not yet satisfied. "Continue."
Zark nodded and continued, his tone more serious now.
"Because the humans failed to close those portals, foreign creatures have started slipping into this world. From the reports gathered so far, we’ve identified a spread of various monsters in several regions: goblins, kobolds, orcs, ogres, even cyclopes."
Sylvia touched her chin. "Interesting... this world is becoming quite the hunting ground."
"That’s not all," Zark continued. "We’ve also detected a few humanoid entities. Elves and dwarves from the other side of the portals. They appear intelligent and capable of communication, though their motives remain unknown."
Hearing that, Sylvia stood. She suddenly remembered she still had a few troops stored in her dimensional inventory. The throne room was too cramped for a dragon, so she only summoned three beings: two towering werewolves, a cold-eyed female dark elf, and a dark-scaled drake with wild eyes.
They emerged in a muted flash of light and immediately knelt before her. Sylvia gestured toward Zark with her chin.
"Go with him. Join the front lines."
They nodded and followed Zark out of the room. Before leaving, Zark handed her an old map marked with dark red ink.
"What’s this?" Sylvia asked, eyeing the large red X stamped on it.
"That... is the location of currently active Zombie Kings. At least three have been confirmed so far. They haven’t joined our forces."
Sylvia gave a small nod. "Good. Keep up the work. Take them to the army."
Zark saluted, then left with the trio of summoned beings.
Once they were gone, Sylvia strolled out of the castle toward the newly built training grounds in the back courtyard. She raised her hand, and with a short chant, her massive zombie dragon around five meters long emerged from her dimensional space.
The dragon let out a soft snort, clearly sulking.
"Sorry, I forgot," Sylvia said, patting its head. "Let’s go for a walk."
Upon hearing that, the dragon’s eyes lit up and it flapped its wings. Sylvia climbed onto its sturdy back, then pointed westward.
"Fly. Head to Celes’ base."
About ten minutes later, a massive shadow passed over the sky. The undead dragon soared above Celes’ base, causing minor panic. Guards shouted in alarm, some even raised their weapons but when they saw Sylvia calmly seated atop the beast, the chaos slowly subsided.
Celes, who had been sitting at an outdoor dining table, looked up with a long sigh.
"Sylvia... you keep getting weirder and scarier. Good thing you’re still sane. If not, this world would already be hell." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
After landing, Sylvia dismounted with grace. The dragon immediately flopped onto the ground like a giant cat and went to sleep.
"Long time no see, Celes," Sylvia said.
Celes glared at her. "And you’re getting more terrifying by the day. If we were enemies, I’d probably be ash by now."
Sylvia chuckled softly. "Relax. I don’t attack without reason."
"Come in. I just finished making breakfast."
Breakfast turned out to be hard wheat bread and cheese, with no meat an increasingly rare commodity in this apocalyptic world. Still, the scent of toasted cheese and warm bread was comforting.
As they ate, Celes studied Sylvia. "So, what’s the reason for this visit?"
"No reason. I was just bored. Also, it’s been a while since I fought. My body’s itching for battle." She smiled and added, "Oh, and thanks for your blood. Sofia survived because of it. Want me to repay the favor?"
Celes laughed. "You maniac. No need. But if I ever need help, don’t you dare refuse."
"Of course," Sylvia replied.
They chatted for a long while, like old friends reuniting. As noon approached, Sylvia stood and stretched her arms.
"Time for me to go. My body is screaming for combat."
"Don’t forget to drop by again," Celes called, waving.
Outside, Sylvia patted her sleeping dragon’s head. Its eyes slowly opened, looking annoyed.
"Let’s go home. Let’s bring Sofia to battle."
At the word battle, the dragon perked up immediately, shooting into the air with incredible speed. Five minutes later, they were back at the castle. People nearby screamed in panic as the dragon suddenly descended from the sky but seeing Sylvia, their panic subsided.
Sofia was there, standing in the yard, looking up at the sky.
When she saw Sylvia, she smiled.
Without warning, Sylvia threw a chain that wrapped around Sofia’s waist and yanked her up onto the dragon’s back.
"Waaah! Sylvia, what the hell?!"
But the dragon was already airborne. The wind whipped past Sofia’s face, and she trembled from her unsteady position atop the undead beast.
"This is... this really is a dragon..." Sofia muttered, resigned. She clung to Sylvia from behind. "Where are we going?"
"Hunting for strong enemies. I believe there are still a few Zombie Kings to deal with."
Sofia sighed. "At least let me get on properly. Being dragged up here like that is embarrassing..."
Sylvia simply smiled and said nothing.
They arrived at a vast area ruins of a city now overrun by thousands of zombies. At the center of the horde stood a grimy brick tower the stronghold of one of the Zombie Kings.
Sofia stared down. "That’s... way too many..."
Sylvia turned and looked at her deeply. "Didn’t you say you wanted to get stronger?"
"Don’t tell me you’re—"
Sylvia pushed Sofia off the dragon.
"SYLVIAAAA—!"
Sofia’s body shot down like a meteor, her spear drawn, its tip burning with the purifying fire of the Blessing granted by the Goddess Hestia. Her eyes blazed with power.
"YOU’RE DEAD AFTER THIS!!!"
BOOM!!!
An explosion of dust and light burst as Sofia slammed into the horde. The ground shook. The air trembled.
From afar, Sylvia smiled as she watched from above. "Show me your strength, Sofia..."
And the battle began.
