Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1479: Sealed magic
Chapter 1479: Sealed magic
Before long, Rain passed through the first layer of the enemy’s base, and while he wanted to keep going and reach where Rain was supposed to be, he was forced to stop since the second layer was very different from the first one.... While the first layer was filled with life and had those giant trees as well, the second layer looked different. It made Rain recall the metallic bases where he found the giant mana cannons.
"Passing through these should be possible, but..." Rain thought when he stopped spinning and began to fall.
In the next moment, all of Rain’s senses began to warn him of danger. Then, all of a sudden, a reverse rain of light began to head toward him. Rain was unable to pinpoint the direction the attacks came from, but he began to get hit by a barrage of mana cannons.
At first, Rain stopped them with the ominous sword and used his hands to absorb some of the other attacks, but soon, he began to receive too much damage. After clicking his tongue in annoyance, Rain activated Light Speed and then began to fly away from the barrage by moving to the side... the skill wasn’t fast enough to deserve that title, but at least Rain was able to avoid the attacks and see the second layer.
"A layer that only serves to hide a sea of mana cannons..." Rain thought.
There were countless holes in the ground where the mana blasts were coming from. They weren’t as big as the ones that could destroy entire planets, but they were big enough to fight any invaders and a massive army of them. Rain looked upward and saw some mirrors absorbing the mana cannons, so it was clear that Rais wasn’t just wasting energy...
The enemy this time was even more methodical than the others... so Rain wondered what he should do... showing his best techniques could come back to bite him in the ass later, but he wasn’t planning to let things go the way the enemy planned.
After deactivating the Light Speed technique, Rain used his own technique, and then a barrage of rain droplets began to fall and crack the giant mirrors above. As the pieces of glass began to fall, the mana cannons that missed him began to hit the ceiling and make the area shake.
The mana cannons stopped being fired and then the area got silent... before long, Rain began to hear a weird noise that felt like the sound of insects and then he saw the fragments of the mirrors above falling... but the mirrors were repaired.
"What the fuck..." Rain said.
"Now he is using Ateros power to immediately rebuild the mirrors. "I bet that they also lead to the dimension where all of his energy to maintain this whole space up and running is."
That wasn’t good... much more like the other machine gods, Rais was testing Rain... he was only using the aspects that he knew that Rain could use or had experience facing, all in order to not make him get used to the others in case he ends up losing. Rais was truly quite cautious...
Rain’s unease and anger deepened as he sensed that Rais was holding back in their encounter. The realization left a bitter taste in his mouth, stirring a sense of frustration and annoyance within him. He despised it when enemies underestimated him, treating him as though he were unworthy of their full strength.
In fiction, the moment when adversaries revealed their true might after acknowledging their strength was often portrayed as thrilling and triumphant. But in reality, Rain found it far from exhilarating. Instead, he felt a simmering anger at being constantly underestimated and undervalued. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Throughout their interaction, Rain had been keenly aware of Rais’s restraint. His actions and words calculated to keep Rain in his most natural state. And with each passing moment, Rain’s irritation grew, fueled by the knowledge that Rais’s true power remained a mystery to him.
Despite the surprises, the mana cannons suddenly stopped attacking, and then, in the next moment, Rain began to feel a weird sound inside his head. At the same time, he began to fall.
"What the hell is going on now?" Rain asked nervously while looking around.
The sound resembled static, or the weird insect-like sound people would hear for no apparent reason in their ears. The phenomenon is commonly known as tinnitus. Tinnitus is the perception of noise or ringing in the ears when no external sound is present. It can manifest as various sounds, such as ringing, buzzing, humming, or hissing, and can occur intermittently or persistently. While it is often not a serious condition, persistent or severe tinnitus can be bothersome and may require medical evaluation and treatment.
"... I can’t use my magic?" Rain thought.
Rain tried to use his spells to prevent his fall, but that didn’t work. At the same time, he saw an army of giant robots emerge from the ground. They were spheres and large and sharp circles moved and spun around them. Their material was dark steel... so destroying them would be bothersome...
The monsters began to float, and Rain still kept hearing the noise, so he grabbed the ominous sword... However, he couldn’t hear Elisabetha’s voice anymore. It was the same thing that happened when they were teleported to the prison.
"Fuck..." Rain said.
The monsters surrounded Rain and tried to slice him apart, but he blocked their charge with the sword... they kept pushing him to one side to the other... but at least they failed to reach him... while sparks were falling from the sword like a rain, he analyzed the creatures with his keen eyes.
All of a sudden, Rain kicked the air and passed through the spheric blades of one of the monsters and made the ominous sword pierce the sphere... for a moment, Rain stopped hearing the noise, but soon it returned again.
"I get it now..." Rain smirked.
