Married For Now-Chapter 45: CONFESSION TIME (1)
Chapter 45: CONFESSION TIME (1)
"IT’S A BARBECUE party~"
Huh?
Sohee finally understood why Kim Haewon and Kim Hanhae were excited to join their "interrogation" that night.
At first, he wondered why they had to drive all the way to Incheon.
And then their group arrived at a luxury villa with a private pool.
"Welcome," Hong Sera— wearing a sleeveless crop top and a cute skirt, her hair tied into a messy bun— greeted them. "We’ve already started grilling the barbecue~"
"Sera Unnie!"
"Hello, Sera Noona."
The twins greeted Hong Sera excitedly (Kim Haewon) and politely (Kim Hanhae).
Anyways, Yang Jaewon was in the pool— lying down on a giant pink flamingo floatie, half-naked as he was only wearing his swimming trunks.
Nice abs.
But Kim Heedo’s abs were nicer.
Speaking of his husband...
Sohee turned to Kim Heedo— who was walking next to him— with a confused look on his face. "Did we come here for a barbecue party?"
"Of course not, Hyung."
Kim Heedo didn’t say it out loud, but Sohee almost heard the brat call him ’silly’ again.
I really don’t care about the age hierarchy that Koreans are obsessed with, but I don’t want to lose to Kim Heedo for some reason.
"As I explained before, this has to remain a "children’s fight." If we brought Lim Jinwook in a strange place, or if we got the police involved, then the Navi Group would join the fight to protect their next heir," Kim Heedo continued with his explanation. "So, we have to bring Lim Jinwook here instead of a sketchy place. Since Hong Sera is also here, the Navi Group will be assured that we won’t hurt Lim Jinwook."
"I don’t understand."
"Hong Sera’s family made us promise before that we won’t involve Hong Sera in any form of violence again. Daesung Group is scary. So, even if I’m the grandson of Ilsung Group, I’ll still get in trouble if I break the promise."
"I see," Sohee said while nodding. "I honestly thought you’d bring Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin to an abandoned warehouse."
Kim Heedo chuckled while shaking his head. "Hyung, you’ve watched too many dramas."
"Yeah, watching dramas and reading webcomics are my new hobbies these days."
"Shouldn’t you be spending your time drawing since you’re in the Webtoon Animation Department?"
"Hush, child."
"Hyung is procrastinating, huh?"
Tsk.
To be honest, Sohee chose to major in Webtoon Animation since reading webcomics was his hyperfixation during the time he decided to go to college. That and because he was good at drawing when he was in high school.
He only had a few classes that focused on drawing since he was still a freshman.
But the realization had already hit him.
My drawing skill is mid.
"Sohee Oppa!"
It was Hong Sera, walking towards Sohee and Kim Heedo while holding hands with a young man that Sohee had seen for the first time.
The twins were already playing in the pool with Yang Jaewon.
"Sohee Oppa, let me introduce my boyfriend to you," Hong Sera said, blushing as if she was shy. "This is Han Raehyun."
Oh, Sera’s boyfriend is an Alpha.
Han Raehyun was shorter than average Alphas, but he was very handsome like most elite Alphas. Plus, Han Raehyun looked respectful since he immediately bowed to Sohee as a greeting.
In short, Hong Sera had good taste in men.
"And this is Park Sohee Hyung," Kim Heedo, chiming in out of nowhere. "My husband.’
Aigoo.
Sohee felt strange again after Kim Heedo introduced him as his husband.
I think I like it when he does that.
"Oppa, Raehyun is in the Webtoon Animation Department, too," Hong Sera said after Sohee and Han Raehyun exchanged formal greetings. "He’s in his third year."
"Ah, so you’re my sunbae-nim."
Han Raehyun immediately shook his head and waved his hands. "Please speak to me comfortably, Sohee-ssi."
"If that’s what you want, Raehyun-ah," Sohee said, smiling. "You can just address me comfortably then."
"Yes, Hyung."
Sohee was pleased.
I’ve gained a few good dongsaengs ever since I met Heedo.
"Is Gaon with Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin?" Kim Heedo asked Han Raehyun. "You didn’t beat them to a pulp, did you?"
"Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin haven’t tried to escape, so I have no reason to beat them up," Han Raehyun said calmly. "Gaon and his bodyguards are on the second floor."
Hmm?
Sohee was quite bewildered by Han Raehyun’s words.
So, if Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin tried to escape, then Han Raehyun would have beaten them to a pulp?
Did I misjudge the kid?
"Let’s go, Hyung," Kim Heedo said. "Let’s get this done and over with."
***
"HYUNG, I saw your pupils shake earlier when Han Raehyun said he didn’t beat up Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin because they didn’t try to escape. Do you think he’s a violent kid?"
"Can you blame me?" Sohee asked Kim Heedo while they were walking in the hallway. "Han Raehyun looks like a calm kid. But I guess everyone has a dark side."
"Han Raehyun is just the type who’ll punch you first before asking questions if he thinks you’re a threat," Kim Heedo explained. "That kid is traumatized since he kind of failed to protect Hong Sera and his best friend in the past. Ever since then, he became like that."
"I don’t think that’s a normal reaction, but that’s none of my business."
"Hyung, it’s alright to be curious about the people around us."
Sohee just shrugged.
Kim Heedo shrugged back, and then he opened the door in front of them. "We’ll be interrogating Lim Jinwook first."
Oh.
So, they separated Lim Jinwook and Ho Changmin.
"Sohee Hyung, how’s your wound?"
It was Kwon Gaon.
So, Gaon is in charge of guarding Lim Jinwook.
"I had a minor surgery, but aside from a little discomfort, I’m totally fine," Sohee said, gently patting Kwon Gaon’s shoulder when he noticed the guy was looking at his bandaged ear worriedly. "Thank you for worrying about me, Gaon-ah."
Kwon Gaon just nodded politely.
"Wake up, Lim Jinwook."
"You’re really rude, Kim Heedo."
Sohee turned to Kim Heedo.
His husband was already standing in front of the bed— his arms crossed over his chest while looking down at Lim Jinwook who was lying down on the bed lazily.
"You know why we dragged you here, right?"
"I know," Lim Jinwook said, getting up slowly before leaning against the headboard. "And I’m willing to confess now: I was the one who erased all of Ho Changmin’s traces when he beat up your former hook-ups. Aside from that, I also paid a huge compensation to the victims so they would pretend they didn’t see their attacker’s face. Only two or three people saw Ho Changmin’s face. Fortunately, all of them accepted the bribe and kept their mouths shut."
Kim Heedo raised an eyebrow. "You did a great job protecting Ho Changmin all this time. So, why are you suddenly throwing him under the bus?"
"My father is the first son of my grandfather, so he’s supposed to be the successor," Lim Jinwook said, suddenly bringing up his family. "But my father is losing the succession war to his younger brother. I was stressed out about since my father kept lashing out at me. At that time, I met Ho Changmin again."
Kim Heedo let out a frustrated sigh. "Lim Jinwook, your sob story better answer my questions."
"Yes, so just shut up and listen to my story first," Lim Jinwook assured Kim Heedo. "Anyway, when I met Ho Changmin, he asked me if I wanted him to share his luck with me. Apparently, if I helped him again, I could extend the luck I’d get to my family."
"And you believe that?"
"Kim Heedo, your grandfather is known in the business world as Shaman Jung’s most devoted follower."
"Right."
"I was at my wits’ end, so I agreed with Ho Changmin’s plan," Lim Jinwook said. "He asked me to steal Park Sohee’s earring and pretend to be the stalker. And he even gave me a script to say to make it sound like I was obsessed with you, Kim Heedo."
"You tried to kill me, though," Sohee complained. "You smothered me with a pillow."
"It was just to scare you," Lim Jinwook said defensively. "I had no intention of killing you, Park Sohee."
"Kim Heedo told me we can’t get the police involved," Sohee said while walking towards the bed, and then he stopped next to his husband. "Heedo-ya, can I smother him with a pillow later as revenge?" He then turned to Lim Jinwook who suddenly went pale. "An eye for an eye, you bastard. Don’t worry— I have no intention of killing you."
Lim Jinwook flinched, but he couldn’t say anything back.
Is it because I’m the grandson-in-law of Ilsung Group?
Hah.
The taste of power is great.
"I’ll let you have your revenge later, Hyung," Kim Heedo assured Sohee, his glare still focused on Lim Jinwook. "If you made a deal with Ho Changmin, why did you suddenly betray him?"
"If the Ilsung Group has Shaman Jung-nim, then the Navi Group has Shaman Inha-nim."
Oh?
Are the rich easy to fool? Or are the shamans in our country really that powerful?
To be fair, Sohee couldn’t complain since he benefitted from Chairman Kim Hyungsik’s deep faith in Shaman Jung.
"I know," Kim Heedo said. "Did Shaman Inha-nim say something to you?"
"While I was in hiding, Shaman Inha-nim called me. She somehow found out that I hurt Park Sohee— the grandson-in-law of Ilsung Group," Lim Jinwook said awkwardly. "She scolded me, and told me that if Park Sohee got hurt again because of me, what little luck my father had would completely disappear. And it might cause my father to lose the succession war. So, I decided to correct my mistake by surrendering."
It would have sounded outrageous.
Well, it is.
Sohee noticed the similarities between Shaman Jung and Shaman Inha.
They both operate around luck, huh?
