Chapter 237: Not the only one who’s full of nonsense

The beginning of the week felt slower with many ups and downs, but halfway through it, Fil almost wanted it to slow down. Once she dealt with those toxic scums and found out about Michael’s plans, everything else went smoothly. Before she knew it, it was her last day in the office. Hence, her friends in the office threw a dinner party.

"Fil, I’ll miss you again!" Elise whimpered, hugging Fil’s arm. "When are you coming back?"

"In three months, I think?" Fil smiled. "Or maybe, after a year."

"A year?!" Elise frowned, casting Olivia who sat across from them a look. "Liv! Why are you giving her a year of leave?!"

"It’s not a leave, Elise," Liv returned nonchalantly. "She’s not going on a vacation, but work."

Elise’s frown deepened while Kenzo shook his head. A warm smile turned on Fil’s face as she studied everyone at the table. All of them were good colleagues who had been a great support.

"By the way, when’s the wedding?" Olivia slowly shifted her eyes to Fil while chewing her food. "You requested for a longer time away. I presumed it’s because of the wedding preparation."

"We hadn’t chosen a wedding date." Fil smiled. "But once I leave, we’ll start our planning."

"Wow..." Elise’s eyes twinkled. "You’re really getting married? Fil, shouldn’t you introduce this guy to us first?"

"Fil will not do that because her fiance might run away once he finds out what sort of lunatics Fil’s friends are," Olivia humored. "Elise, I know someone who is looking for his perfect girl. If you want, I can set you up on a date."

"Liv, do you think I’m bored?" Elise deadpanned, grasping the hidden message behind Olivia’s offer. "I’m just sad I won’t see Fil’s face for a long time. Just looking at her is enough to make my day. She’s my daily dose of happiness!"

Elise continued to prattle while Fil and Olivia could only chuckle.

"You’re so cute, Elise," Olivia remarked, casting Fil a look. "I’ll miss you too, Fil."

"I’ll miss you all too." Fil smacked her lips. "Though, we always see each other in our virtual meeting. It’s still nice to work alongside you and everyone."

"It should be. Otherwise, I’ll be really disheartened if you prefer working with those other people in the Solana." Olivia smirked. "Let’s make a toast. The last time, we didn’t get to eat together. So, let’s have a blast tonight."

Hearing Olivia utter those words, there was this sense of excitement in everyone’s heart. Thus, even before they could finish their meal, they ordered alcoholic beverages. The dinner wasn’t as wild as a real party, but the atmosphere was light and uplifting.

"I can’t... Fil, i sueld aon..." Elise spoke rubbish while Kenzo carried her to the backseat of Olivia’s car. "Missy Fil Fil."

"Ah, goodness! Why do you always drink so much?!" Kenzo grumbled after making sure Elise was safe in the backseat. Straightening his back, he looked at Olivia and Fil. "Fil, why not ride with them, eh?"

"Do you think I am a driver?" Olivia raised a brow.

"Actually, I want to ask you to take Kenzo with you," Fil remarked to Olivia. "My fiance will pick me up. He’s already on the way, so..."

"Eh! I can go home on my own!" Kenzo scrunched up his nose. "I’m not Elise. No need to take me home, Liv."

"Get in." Liv tipped her head in the car’s direction. "Don’t fight anymore and simply and quietly surrender. I mean, go to the driver’s seat. Drive us all home."

Kenzo’s face turned sour, but Olivia already decided. The latter faced Fil, a smile dominating her face.

"I will be disappointed if you get married and I don’t get an invitation," Olivia quipped. "I was hoping to catch the flowers by then."

Fil chuckled. "Don’t worry. You’re the first person I’ll be sending the invitation to."

"Good."

The two of them engaged in an idle chat before Olivia pulled Kenzo’s ear to force him into the driver’s seat. Waving Fil goodbye, Olivia slowly rolled the window as they started to drive away.

"Olivia you do understand that this can be called an abuse of power, hah?" Kenzo grumbled behind the wheel, rubbing his ear because Olivia pinched it harder than she should have.

"What are you gonna do about it?" Olivia smirked as she cast him a quick look. "Don’t tell me you’re going to tell your brother about it?" freewēbnoveℓ.com

Kenzo’s expression died.

"Well, if you do, Cole will surely fire me out." She shrugged. "If not, then I’ll have to send my resignation."

"Liv, you’re full of nonsense sometimes." Kenzo frowned. "Even if I tell my brother about this, he won’t fire out one of his best engineers in the firm."

"Am I the only one who is full of nonsense?" she returned nonsense. "You were offered an administrative position in the company, only to turn it down to be an apprentice."

Kenzo didn’t respond, keeping his attention on the road ahead.

"I’ve used to wonder about it," she continued in the same calm voice. "The youngest son of the chairman and also, the brother of the firm’s CEO is working at their company from the bottom of the ladder. Even when you got promoted, it’s not like I didn’t know the higher-ups wanted you to take part in the administrative work."

"Olivia."

"It’s Fil, isn’t it?" her eyes slid into the corner to where he was. "The reason you want to stay in the department and why even when you didn’t want to work in your family’s company, you still ended up working in it."

Silence followed her remarks as Kenzo didn’t want to say anything. Only a few people knew that the firm he was working in was actually his family’s company.

"Fil is engaged again," she added. "Are you sure you didn’t want to tell her your feelings?"

"For what, Liv?" he returned under his breath. "She’s already engaged and telling her about my feelings for her will only complicate things."
